  1. Device monitor in GX-Works 2

Hi everyone. Is there any setting or trick in GX-Works2 that prevents us from monitoring device value? I have a PLC  program (Q series) and  I can't monitor some device value (D register) via Watch (device value not changes), Sampling trace or even MX-component (error notification appears). I write a small C# program to monitor and the value remains 0 (when monitoring via Watch, the value <> 0). Please give me some advices if you know. Thank you.

  4. Hi all:   Hope somebody will help me with the below error encounter on the NA. I mapped a external device (NJ PLC) variable (which is a structure) to a NA Global variable and the structure is automatically created in the NA data type as expected. I then create a new NA global variable and defined its data type as the auto created structure. However i observe the created new NA global variable is highlighted with an error "a data type cannot be used by both mapped and unmapped variable ....." ( pls refer to the attached screen).  I have found and view on the Youtube this video :"Introduction To The NA DataTypes" (link: that clearly show the "imported" structure can be used for unmapped NA global variable even there is some variable already mapped to external device variable (starting from the 3:50minutes mark of the video). In my NA program i would need to create such unmapped variable for my logic use. Also i observe that i was unable to delete the auto created structure from the NA Data Types even after i deleted all variables that are defined with that specific structure. How can i delete such auto created structure in case i want to clear off some of those unused data types. I am using Sysmac Studio version The HMI Device created is the NA5-9W00 (version 1.11)
  5. Unrecognized Device

Hey all - I am stumped and looking for some assistance. I have a project in studio 5000, v.32 where I have some ABB drives that are not recognized. I've installed the EDS files, exact same one my co-worker besides me did, and mine will not go recognized and it is driving me crazy! I've done it while online with the PLC and offline, still to no avail. I've also installed the EDS files by going through Tools>EDS Hardware Installation and by right-clicking on the ABB drive in the controller organization tree and registering EDS file. Thanks for any assistance, -k
  6. I can debug my plc app with simulator. I created some function block, and inside functionblock I can inspect in and out parameters, as well as local variables. But in/out parameters values are not shown. Any solution? Im using Sysmac Studio 1.29.2 and selected a NX PLC in my project.
  7. Hello! I am beginner in PLC world, also in SIEMENS PLCs. I managed communication over private network. Now I have a problem that I get same values on all inputs. Picture below shows my configuration of driver and data monitor. First picture shows values when input I0.0 is in state 0. Second picture shows values when input I0.0 is in state 1. Physically on PLC only input I0.0 is forced to 1, input I0.1 stays 0. But data monitor shows both inputs as state 1. Where is problem? Is problem in PLC program, TIA portal? I saw some guys using DataBlocks but I am not skilled enough to use it. Third picture shows simple PLC program on my PLC. Please help. Thanks in advance!
  8. Device point error between Parameter and PLC

Hello all, I am a beginner with PLCs programming. I have an issue on GX Developer programming software from Melsoft trying to program my Mitsubishi Q-series PLC. CPU is Q03UDCPU. When the program is written and I try to upload it to the PLC, with the write to PLC window, I check -Program -- MAIN and -Prameter -- PLC/Network/Remote, click EXECUTE and a message appears : "Device point that is set in parameter is not match the device point in PLC". I can't fix it. In Parameter - PLC Parameter - Q parameter setting (window) - I/O assignment tab : I have (see image). Whe I use CHECK button it says there is no error. The X41 input device is plugged on slot 1/00. I am making this folowing the instructions a PDF I found on the Mitsubishi electric's wesite : Q-series basic course (for GX Developer). Thanks for the help, A. S.
  9. Hey everyone! New member here, and this site has always been a big help!  I try to help other folks too, but a lot of guys are super quick on here.   I've got a problem using some obscure components. I inherited a sensor network at work that uses Panasonic S-Link and I need to read them from a Q-Series. Panasonic makes a module that slots into the Q Series called an SL-VMEL-Q that I have.   My question is:  Did I do everything correctly on my Mitsubishi side? I put it into the parameters as an intelligent module with 64 points and I put the correct address in for the start I/O. Is that all I have to do?  This is the first time I used a module that wasn't on the drop down list when you add one in GX Works 2.   I can read and write to the buffer memory, but I can't get the unit to send to or receive from the sensors. I think the problem is that there is no end unit on the S-Link line (I don't know if it's just a terminating resistor or what), but it previously worked without one, so I can't be certain.
  10. GX Works 2

Hello everyone! Can anyone suggest to take all the Input and Output (digital) status at a time in a single file for backup in gx works2 in FX2N PLC. I need to confirm that all required IO are in perfect condition before start operating the machine. Also I plan to design a troubleshooter to find problem.
  11. Hi, I have some trouble with a CJ2M-CPU33. My client did a backup to memory card earlier today, and after this we did some changes through remote link. Now the client wanted to restore the previous backup to the PLC and has done so, but the system would not function correctly. After going online on the PLC it seems like the PLC is stuck in "Stop/Programming Mode". When trying to change to "Monitor" or "Run" mode a dialog comes up containing the following message: "Failed to change the operating mode. The operating mode may be still changing in the PLC."  - All the dip switches are set to off after restoring backup - The PLC has been rebooted  - I have downloaded the application again through CX-programmer  - Verified that the PLC is set to start up in "Monitor mode" But nothing helps. The same message comes up when trying to change the operating mode.  Hoping anyone can help to resolve this issue as it is very critical for us and the client. In advance, thanks for any tips or help received. Best regards Stian

  15. GOT1000&CompactLogix Tags

Hello Im new using HMI got1000, Im trying to connect using Ethernet this HMI to a compactlogix, i already imported the tags, but i can't use any of them, because the gtworks3 says "you have to map the tags for set a device", i dont know what means map the tags, some one can help me please?
  16. EMS provides low cost analog sensors useful for PLC analog inputs. For example the $25 temperature sensor (+/- 2%) is a useful and inexpensive way to monitor for an over temperature condition in a panel cabinet. AC voltage and current transmitters can be a useful way to monitor motor performance. Even the sound level sensor can be a good way to generate an alarm condition for a bearing failure.
  17. PAROCK1 for HMI/SCADA View File Now a software solution is available for your Modbus (MB) needs in Rockwell/Allen-Bradley Control Logix or Compact Logix (Clgx) family processors, instead of a traditional 3rd party hardware like Prosoft MVI-56, Molex SST-SR4-CLX-RLL etc.  It is an Add-on instruction (AOI) for PLC/PAC firmware v16 or later, (other solutions are available for pre v16 systems).  For hardware interface, use PLC’s channel 0 (serial) or TCP/IP Interface module(s) to have as many MB TCP/IP devices or serial devices.  (Some limits apply based on system configurations, Comm. settings depending on HW used.) 18. Rotary input device

I am looking for some sort of rotary input device which could be used for fine adjustment. Ideally it would have to two output pins, if turned clockwise it would send pulses on one of the pins and when turned counterclockwise it would sent pulses on the other pin. These could be connected to two inputs on PLC and a value in a given variable could be incremented and decremented depending on the direction of rotation. Almost like using potentiometer with analog signal. I guess if I can not find anything I could use incremental encoder and look at the phase of the output to decide which way it is being turned but hopefully simpler and maybe more cost effective solution is out there? Thanks.

  20. DIY CO2 Controller

Guys, I find CO2 controllers to be too expansive and ugly at 500 $ How can I Take a CO2 sensing chip read it it's signal compare the signal to equal or above a value turn on an AC plug (Type B) when below value, OFF when above valueBaiscally, I want to make a CO2 controller myself (soldering on board, buy individual components, put in a box) This will release CO2 in the room through a solenoid when below 1200 ppm, and shut off the solenoid when above 1200 ppm IF I'm on the wrong forum, could you advice where to ask ? Thank you ! Dominique
