  1. This is a bizarre one... CompactLogix, 1769-IF8 with 1492-AIFM8-F-5 wiring system. My client has reported several instances where one of his flow rate displays is frozen at its maximum value.  Each time, I have gone to the site, found that the value in the analog input tag is at full scale, and measured more than 20mA at the input - as much as 28mA!  I measure it using a clamp-on meter and I measure it at the input module (1769-IF8) and the external, pre-wired terminal block (1492-AIFM8-F-5).  I cycle power to the PLC.  No change.  I cycle power on the transmitting device.  No change.  I disconnect and reconnect the input (signal wire at the module or the terminal block) and everything goes back to normal.  This has happened on multiple channels on multiple input modules and with two different types of transmitters. I didn't install this system, but it seems to have been done properly and it had been running fine for many years.  These problems just started happening out of the blue. Has anyone out there had any similar experience?  This is a new one for me after more than 25 years in the business.

We have a carwash automatic controller board with an Eagle Signal Micro 190 PLC.  The program has been reloaded after power outages from a MX207l1 EEPROM Memory Transport Module for over 20 years.  Suddenly the reload isn't working -- either the MTM lost it's program or the socket has worn out over the years.  Anyway, the program can also be loaded via a 9-pin serial cable from a PC.  In trying that, we've found that the program the vendor gave us on the PC doesn't match that on the MTM.  Testing shows that only one output is incorrect.  We simply need to change output on O22 (broken trace on the board 20 years ago) to O20 (which would then match the MTM code).  I am a software engineer, but have never used ladder logic in a PLC.  I *think* I have changed the output, but maybe I just changed a comment.  [Testing requires powering off the carwash, with loss of $$ if we can't get it back up, and $80K expense for total failure, so trial-n-error isn't feasible.]  (1) Can anyone discuss what I did with me so I have a better idea if it will work or not?  (2) Is there anyone in the Atlanta area willing to look at this?  Thanks for reading!
  4. Is there any reason not to have input and output modules on the same rack as the processor and Ethernet cards? We have RIO’s and sometimes have networking outages, I want to move critical IO to Rack0 the same rack as the processor, is this bad practice?  I've seen architecture for BMS that only have Ethernet cards and processors in Rack 0... 
  5. PLC Not fast enough?

    Hello, I used a Schneider Electric SR3B261B PLC to create a trivia machine (as I call it).  Basically 20 buttons that let contestants ring in to trivia.  There is a display that shows the number of the person who rang in.  It works pretty well unless people press the buttons at exactly the same time.  Then it shows 2 results at the same time.  Usually resulting in a display of 18 when really it was 12 and 14 that rang in, for example. The PLC has options for: "Adjustment of the basic cycle time of the module."   and "Type of Hardware Input Filtering." Which I assume would make the PLC operate faster and avoid two inputs triggering at the same time.  If I change the setting and update the changes do not keep.  I appear unable to change it past 20 x2 ms  and slow (3ms). Is that a correct assumption that changing this would fix it? Why can I not change this?  Is it because I have so many inputs (14 or so) and Outputs (16 or so)? or because my program uses nearly all 240 lines of ladder logic allowed? What can I do to fix this?   Emerald
  6. Control Panel

    Is it possible to view the values / states of all inputs, outputs and workbits (e.g. 64.00 through 64.15 on Omron CQM1 PLC) on a single screen or control panel within CX-Programmer software?  I'm trying to troubleshoot some ladder logic that I wrote and need to know the values of 5 or 6 inputs/outputs/workbits simultaneously.  Having to scroll up and down through my ladder logic repeatedly does not work well with code that changes state every 5-10 seconds or so. Any help is welcome.

Anyone have experience with the Peak to Peak hold function on Keyence IL-1000 amplifier?  I have an IL-030 lase head running off it and I want to utilize the peak to peak hold function.   I connected the red wire from a generic 24VDC, 1A, power supply to the IL-1000 Pink/Purple (timing input wire) and the black wire from the power supply to IL-1000 Blue (0V).   I have a 24VDC, 5A, power supply connected to IL-1000 Brown (10-30V) and IL-1000 Blue (0V) to power the IL-1000.   What I thought might work is to plug the 24VDC, 1A power supply in and out of an outlet to trigger the timing input for the P-P hold (similar to an on/off button).  But it's not doing anything.   I am not an electrical guy.  Any tips here?  Thanks,

I'm try to make a function empressed Button's input command that still running forever until the user press the Button again .. so if i press the Button at first the function inside Button will be running , But i wonder to terminate that function by press same button second time or don't mind if you suppose other Button for stop running the function ... plz help to make a code or something else to stop running of my function.

HI I'm using PlC5/20 when I click on setup screen on the BTR block (to view the analog input configuration) i find the following message: No modules exist in the IOconfiguration for this R/G/M however the analog input signals is running properly....i just want enter the setup screen for configuration. I'm assuming that I need to enter I/O module in the I/O configuration? Can I do this without taking PLC to Program mode?  
  11. Help needed with MM430

    Hi everyone, Now I used Micromaster 430 controlled by a PLC. I set parameters as follows: P0010: 0  P0100: 0 P0700: 2 (using BOP-2) P0701: 1 (start) P0702:12 Terminal 3+4: Connected to Analog output of the PLC  Terminal 5: connected to 24V via a relay which is controlled by the PLC DIP switch1 on (analog input1 with 0-20mA) When I turn on the relay to power to terminal 5, the inverter runs about 5 seconds, then stop automatically while terminal 5 is still powered. There are no fault and no alarm. I checked the parameter P0947 and P2110 with value 0. Especially, when I set P0700 = 1 (using Start button in Panel), the inverter runs well without stop automatically. Please give me some solutions.  
  12. Remote Run/stop on FX0

    Hello, I'm working on a project where I'm trying to create Remote Acces to old PLC's. The Mitsubishi FX0-20MR-ES is one of those PLC's. I got the remote access working by using a Serial to Ethernet converter, but I just found out that FX0 serie can only be put in Run or Stop mode by manually flipping the RUN/STOP switch on the PLC. I was wondering if there is any software solution that enables me to "simulate" the stop function while the switch is still set on RUN. That way I can still program the PLC from a remote location. I know this is possible with some PLC's by turning off a whole registry in the software, that way the PLC thinks it is in STOP while it's actually still running. I just don't know how this would work with the FX0. I hope someone can give me the solution I'm looking for. I'm looking forward to the reactions, Jimmy
  13. Hi All, I am doing an application that use servo motor to feed plastic film to a target length (set by operator), and it need to stop immediately if marker sensor is ON. This application is control by Omron CP1E PLC. It will feed plastic film in 500-1000mm/s depends on the target length set by operator. It is require to stop immediately if the servo feed length more than 90% of the target length and the marker sensor is ON. However, is there any possibility for the servo to stop immediately once the condition is meet? As I am using PLS2(887) to feed with target length, and INI(880) to stop immediately, however, it cannot get the desired result as servo not able to stop immediately after marker sensor is ON, I am not sure is because of the PLC scan time, or servo need time to deceleration (deceleration rate assigned to #FFFF). Appreciate anyone able to assist on this. Thank you.

    Hi, I working on reading impulse from the input. I am using M8000 as a contact, on the coil [C235 K9999] and it is working fine on the lad, but the problem is I need to applicate sth like that in structure ladder but I dont know how. I found function on the image below but it is for FX3U. I know that 2-phase 2-count input use OUT_C(for example EN True| CCoil CC251| CValue K0) and then DMOV(for example EN True| s CN251| d D100), so is there any method to read impulses from the input? .Thanks in advance. PS I have Mitsubishi FX3G series.  
  15. QJ71C24N INPUT PROBLEM

    I am using QJ71C24N to communicate with my devices, ASCII mode. I can send my output to the device by using non-protocol method ( G.output). However,  when I using G.input to try to receive the feedback from my device. The signal seen not stable to receive by my PLC. Sometime can get the full signal sometime can't and sometime I get some messy signal. Is there any setting I need to set to get the stable feedback from my device? Please anyone can help me to solve this problem? 
  16. Hi, I have some trouble with a CJ2M-CPU33. My client did a backup to memory card earlier today, and after this we did some changes through remote link. Now the client wanted to restore the previous backup to the PLC and has done so, but the system would not function correctly. After going online on the PLC it seems like the PLC is stuck in "Stop/Programming Mode". When trying to change to "Monitor" or "Run" mode a dialog comes up containing the following message: "Failed to change the operating mode. The operating mode may be still changing in the PLC."  - All the dip switches are set to off after restoring backup - The PLC has been rebooted  - I have downloaded the application again through CX-programmer  - Verified that the PLC is set to start up in "Monitor mode" But nothing helps. The same message comes up when trying to change the operating mode.  Hoping anyone can help to resolve this issue as it is very critical for us and the client. I’m using a Omron NJ to manage a LinMot linear motor .. all is going very well; however, there have been a few times during this development phase when the actuator, or programming creates a fault, perhaps from a following error, or exceeding a limit.  The result is sometimes scary.  The actuator might accelerate into a hard stop.  Not a big deal, the ends are protected with Sorbothane, so it isn’t a big problem .. yet.  Once the system is correctly programmed, it shouldn’t ever accelerate an actuator into the hard stops. In spite of my newbie-ness  to Omron programming I’m aware of the need to employ error & fault action that will stop a run-away actuator in closed-loop control, rather quickly. Just how to do that.. has evaded my research. I’ve noticed:  “FaultHandler”  in the W507 & W508 Manuals. And, been quite frustrated to not find any reference to FaultHandler or FaultHandeler()  .. which kinda suggests it’s a program?… and also expected to get some clues in the "NJ Programming Best Practices V1.1”   so far… no luck. Perhaps I’m going about this all wrong..  The LinMot Driver Controller might be the way to go.. An error message from the NJ to the LinMot drive would quickly shut down movement in closed loop .. instead of turning the motor into a rail gun… Any suggestions at how to do it with the NJ,  would be greatly appreciated..   18. Urgent help CS1 CPU Stop

    Hello all, Require some urgent help on a project, apologies if poor explanation.... When CS1 CPU goes into stop mode in fault condition, eg fatal cycle time error, outputs retain in the state they were when CPU was stopped. In code we monitor CPU status and turn output high to pull in relay to indicate CPU status normal to wiring circuit. But if CPU goes into stop mode relay remains energise as code is not running to turn output off?? Therfore for examples conveyors keep running... How can we prevent this, can outputs be configured to go low if cpu stops? Any other ideas? Any help will be appreciate, thanks.

    I need some help with G.input and g.output commands. I have a Q04UDEHCPU and my slots are as follow: slot 0 - QJ61BT11N cclink slot 1 - QJ61BT11N cclink slot 2 - QJ71C24N-R4  2-channel RS4222/RS485   I need to have 2 separate RS485 stings going to different devices. I cannot find the way of setting up the g.output command. G.Output "Un" (s1) (s2) (d) "Un" says it is the start I/O signal of the module, but I am not sure what that means. What there be a different "Un" number for each channel?   
  20. Hi,   I am using Omron CP1E NA 20DTD with built-in ANALOG inputs and output. I know how to deal with digital inputs. But I have no idea about analogue input wiring and programming. I tried connecting gefran LVDT PY2 directly to an analogue input of plc. But the indicator light did not turn on. Do I need to use any signal conditioner or converter? The output of lvdt is 0 to 25volts. I HAVE ATTACHED THE DATASHEET OF LVDT. DTS_PY2_06-2016_ENG.pdf
  21. For some background information, I am in the process of converting a Mitsubishi FX2N to a Siemens S7-1200. I am viewing the Mitsubishi program with GX Developer Version 8.116W. There is this subroutine in the Mitsubishi program that appears like it will never run. I think the purpose of this subroutine is to clear the status of the devices in the PLC. I have attached a picture that demonstrates what I am dealing with. Can anyone tell if the subroutine P7 will run at any point? Thanks! For those who are not used to the Mitsubishi world or want to brush up on their Mitsubishi knowledge, below is some information regarding the devices and functions used in my example: M8000 - Always on bit (turns on when PLC is running and turns off when PLC is stopped). M500 - Just some random memory bit I chose. FEND - Indicates end of main routine program (everything below this rung is either a subroutine or interrupt routine, so it will only be processed if called from somewhere). P7 on left side of power rail - This is a label that indicates the beginning of the subroutine called P7. M8031 and M8032 - Special memory bits that, when set, tells the PLC to clear certain devices. SRET - Indicates end of subroutine.

  24. Hi, Iam new to schneider electric PLC drive programming and also to canOpen communication. I have an LMC058 PLC and there are three Lexium 32A drives connected via canOpen which inturn controls three servomotors. My question is how to find/ read hardware limit status of the axis in which limit is connected to a digital input pin of the drive. Even though the axis is properly working by configuring the digital input pins we are unable to get the digital input status of the drive. In the drive manual its given that the digital input status can be read from canOpen address 3008:F(hex) we dont know how to read the status during run time in the program . Can any one advise me how to read that address. I tried SDO_read function but its giving me error(canOpen network id Unknown). Thanks in advance.

    I'm working on a project that reads an RF - TAG via RS232. It uses the G.INPUT command. I need some help to see if I understand clearly how it works. Now it reads a maximum of 16 digits but in the future i want to pass it to 32 bits. The command line is |G.INPUT    U5    D6500    D6800    M7922| If I understood correctly I load in D6500 either 1 or 2 to tell it which channel to read from. It stores the 16 digits in words starting from D6800 and goes on till D6815 if I am correct. My questions are: - did I understand correctly how to use the command and is there anything else i need to take care of while using it? - do I need to do additional settings to it in order to read 32 digits or does it automatically read (if the RF reader is compatible with 32 digits)?
