  1. We have a Panelview Plus 600. One of our panels is labeled "Motor Control," in charge of turning on/off different pumps. The problem is while the system is running, clicking the on/off button will not turn any pump off. When the system is shut down, the pumps can be turned on and off but not when the system is running. I'm trying to shut off one pump without shutting the whole line down. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  7. S7-300 CPU is in STOP due to a Profibus failure. We have a facility with a Profibus master CPU and multiple modules with Profibus interface and when we insert the memory card with the CPU program does not change to RUN, it stays in STOP. 8. I hope to be able to provide more information, but for now this is what I have. I have a SLC5/05 that faults whenever a graphic display is pulled up from a Cimplicity HMI. So, the PLC is not faulted while all harnesses are connected to the I/O modules, and while the Ethernet cable is plugged in, but it appears to fault when a corresponding graphic is called up that includes tags from the particular processor. There are two PLCs on the network, and I am not certain if they share data between each other or not, or if the data is just being shared to a common Cimplicity HMI. Another strange thing is that one of the PLCs on the network is using a MSG instruction to pull data from what appears to be the PLC that continues to fault, but the IP address configured in the MSG instruction does not match.
  9. DC motor with encoder

Hello, The company that I work for wanted me to design and build a FIFO loader. For those who do not know what a FIFO loader is, it's basically a lift that runs up and down and filling up the magazine slots with pcb's. After I finish the mechanical part i'll try to program it by using a CPM2C - 20. I have already played with CX-programmer and learned my self a bit, for example how to program simple things such as AND and OR gates for controlling motors and lights. Really hard part for me was figuring out how to create a program that reads data from the encoder and use it to create positions which the motor will stop at, and i have not yet figured it out. I've been trying to google it without any luck, the only thing of real info i've got is a 650 page long pdf file or CX-Programmer manual which is hard for me to read since i'm new to all of this. Would be great if any of you people got any source or maybe a manual which are easy to understand for new beginner like myself. A bit about the program i would like to make: The FIFO loader will have some buttons for selecting different programs, lets say you press first button to select "program 1". Then the machine should move up and stop at posision "50" (there are 50 slots on PCB magazine) after it gets signal from pneumatic actuator (which will be used to shove pcb inside the slot) its should move to position "49" and so on.. If FIFO loader is located at "home" position and you press second button to choose "program 2", then it will move to slot "49", wait until it gets loaded, and continue to slot "47" and so on.. The meaning of this is to make a loader which can select a program to fit pcb's with different size of components.
  10. Hi, I have a ControlLogix L63 processor. We had a power outage the other day and the PLC went into Major Fault (Type 6, Code1). It is quite easy to find out what these mean (from vendor manual). However the major fault was reset before i looked at it, so i couldnt find any specific details on what routine faulted. There is GSV instruction in the fault handler to get the details of the Major Fault (MAJORFAULTRECORD). This recorded the TimeHigh, TimeLow, Code, Type and Info. I am now trying to determine what the date in the ".info" records mean (8 registers). I cant find this in any manual. Can someone help?
  11. How can I do a hardware 'factory reset' on a Q UDE CPU .... NOT using any software such as GX Developer or Works? I understand in the 'Write to PLC' menu it's possbile to Clear / Format / Arrange PLC memory - this isn't what I'm asking for. Under normal circumstances we routinely reload the PLC code / parameters / intelligent function data all remotely from our offices to our customers facilities and all works well. With the newer Q UDE CPUs it is possible to scan the network and effectively do a remote bare-metal recover to a new CPU. If the Q UDE CPU became unresponsive I would like to know how to reset the CPU back to factory defaults. In this scenario we would be asking local site electricians to carry out this reset procedure - after which we would reload the code remotely from the office. Documentation says power down CPU remove BAT for > 10 mins. I’ve powered down, left in STOP state and removed BAT for 16hours - then tested this morning – IP / program perfect and online immediately without battery connected. This retention is a wonderful feature – but if I want to deliberately do a hardware factory reset how do I do it ?
  12. Hi All, Thanks to all who helped with my first post - how to get started with a second-hand CPM1A PLC.  Thought I should now start a more specific thread. I now have Syswin 3.4 running in Windows xp mode in Windows Virtual PC, I think I have a Chinese USB-CIF02 comms cable/adapter and drivers correctly installed in Win xp mode.  The PLC powers up with the PWR and RUN LEDs lit.  The USB adapter TX LED flickers when I use the Syswin comms test function, indicating that Syswin is talking to the adapter.  But having tried 128 combinations of comms protocol and unit address at 9600 baud without success, I believe there are now two possibilities. First, while Syswin is sending something to the USB adapter, it may not be 'talking' correctly to the PLC .OR. the PLC is set for some unusual communications settings for reasons unknown, that I may never be able to stumble upon.  Both possibilities could be eliminated if I could return the PLC to the factory default state, with a known comms setup. However, it seems the comms settings in DM words are stored in Flash memory and can only be changed if I can 'talk' to the PLC - Catch 22?  I can find no sign of any DIP switches or hardware reset button etc.  Surely there must be some way to clear the flash memory to return the device to the factory default state?  All suggestions gratefully received. Ian
  13. Hi All, Anybody have used this Powerflex 755 option card( 20-750-UFB-1 )?.. im using an SEW absolute encoder with sin cos config. my question is how to Home or zero the reading, which encoder parameter should i call. Big thanks for help... Cheers
  14. Dear All!!! Please tell me the way how can i delete recipe from Runtime. There are only save and restore options in the inbuild recipe function. I am using inbuild recipe function. Factory Talk View SE v8.0 (all the patches till date are installed) I have RSView32 VBA code but i am not able to use it in FTV SE Please help me with it!!! Private Sub Display_AnymationStart() Dim sRecipes As StringList Dim vRecipe As Variant On Error GoTo ErrHandler Set sRecipes = gProject.GetComponents("recipe;files") For Each vRecipe In sRecipes LstRecipeNames.AddItem vRecipe Next vRecipe ErrHandler: If Err.Number Then gActivity.Log Err.Description Err.Clear End If Set sRecipes = Nothing Set vEachRecipe = Nothing End Sub 'user selects the recipe name in the list box, and then presses delete button Private Sub cmdDeleteRcp_Click() On Error GoTo ErrHandler If LstRecipeNames.ListIndex = -1 Then MsgBox "Select a recipe to delete" Else 'delete the recipe file, and remove from the project gProject.DeleteComponent "Recipe;files", LstRecipeNames.Text 'remove the item from the listbox LstRecipeNames.RemoveItem LstRecipeNames.ListIndex End If ErrHandler: If Err.Number Then gActivity.Log Err.Description Err.Clear End If End Sub The bolded points are problem, Bypased the error handler , but please lemme know how can use use this commands in FTV SE, as VBA in SE is client based blah blah... gProject.DeleteComponent "Recipe;files", LstRecipeNames.Text

  16. Dear  Experts!!! I want to log each and every tag if its value changes from the SCADA. Please help me. Please be clear about all the things. I don't wan to write all the tags in the event server in deviation tab. Its a very long time taking process.   Is there any other way to do it efficiently.
  17. Hi!!! Could anyone please tell me how can i make my recipe function working having : 1. SQL database linkage 2. VBA programme 3. Without making new recipe tags (want to use actual plc tags only, no new recipe tags) I am new to factory talk so please tell me from the scratch. It would be highly appreciable. Thank You.
  18. Hi!!! Could anyone tell me how can i log a single single event happening in Scada like login/logout, any tag changes value, operator input etc. I don't have any historian. 1. without making event list of every tag in development 2. using VBA 3. with the help of SQL It would be highly appreciable. Thank You.
  19. Hello, I tried to download a .mer file. I have never seen this error before and how to fix this error. This is what I found from panel view plus compact manual. "Error: Unable to load non-Compact Machine Edition application. Please load a compact Machine Edition application." How do I load a compact machine edition application?? 20. Hello! I am programming with FT view studio version 8. In the program, when I make numeric display, I can not input values for this tag I am using in the display. Then I decided to make 'invisible button' for enabling the input for this tag which is shown in the numeric display. This is okey for me, only if there is other ways to do this please tell me. Now when I have created this numeric display with input enabling -'group', I have a problem, how can I use security levels for this group, so that only logging in values can be set? I have found that there is security code selection for this in the screen displays, but not for the buttons.
  21. Hello, I am Er. Nirav M. Madhvani Can you please me tell me about How Stepper Motor Controlling using Allen Bradley PLC Micro logix 1000 and also tell me about Which Instruction I can used in this topic and also tell me about how speed Vary and Pulse vary ?
  22. Hey All, I am trying to do some data storing on a PanelView+ and the built in data logging doesn't quite fit my needs. I was looking into the possibility of creating my own ActiveX control for doing this. Is it possible to create custom ActiveX controls for Factory Talk? If so, are there any tutorials for doing so you recommend? Also, are there any sites that have custom ActiveX controls to download? I realize this may not be the easiest thing to do, but if I could create my own I could use it for various machines and would make things a lot simpler in the long run. Thanks
  23. All CPU led falshing

  24. Induction Motor with encoder

Hello, I am not sure if this topic is too far from what the forum concerns, but any advice is greatly appreciated including reference to other reference. I want to know if any induction motor has internal encoder equipped. We are using servo motors, and additionally an encoder for position check. Because the position control resolution requirement is about 1 degree, I am thinking about abandoning servo motor, and to use induction instead. Servo motor has internal encoders for outputting pulse information. And I wonder, if there are induction motors with internal encoders. Thanks in advance. Ting
  25. We are currently using a SureStep STP-DRV-4850 stepper drive from Automation Direct with their bipolar STPMTR23079D Stepper motor rated at 1.1 ohm, 2.8 amp per phase and 1.8 degree per step. The setup is a 24 volt rotary encoder 600 PPR AB quad that is turned 1 revolution per 6” of measured travel of the machine. We have a large “clock” dial that shows 24” of travel that the stepper motor directly turns. It has been programmed for 9600 pulse per revolution AB quadrature following and seems to follow the movement quite well. The issue that we having is several times a day the power is shut off to the machine and the stepper upon startup moves to the closest full step which looks to be about 3/8”. We need to save its location or at least keep the dial close to its current mircostep if possible. Do I have something set-up wrong? Should I be using a different drive? Thanks in advance!
