  1. UDTs to Custom Data Structure

I have a reference HMI project that has many variables that have an Invalid data type. We are one by one trying to re-create the data types that are missing, but so far there is no easy way that I know of. Currently I re-create the UDT from scratch in a scrap offline project. (based on just looking at the variable elements in the ref project. Export the UDT to .XML file Import the UDT as a new custom structure into the toolbox At this point I can drag the structure from the toolbox into my variable list, and it creates a variable with what looks like a good structure. What I cant figure out is how to easily re-assign the old variable the new custom data type. Since the old variable is used all over the place, it cant be deleted, and if I rename it it changes every reference to it that exists, so that doesnt help either. The image posted shows the old variable "H_Header" and its properties as invalid type (also shows red X in the icon). below that is a new variable with the new data type. (no Red X). If I could delete H_Header I could then just rename the new variable to the same, but I cant because of its use. If I could change the data type from Invalid to H_Header, that would work, but its greyed out and wont let me change it. Any help appreciated
  2. Hi everyone ! I have a little project wich involves communication between two Micro820 controllers via TCP/IP. To do that, I started to work with TCP/IP socket. Within CCW (Connected Components Workbench), I tried to create a new socket instance using the instruction SOCKET_CREATE and set the socket address to 127.0.0.1:21. Basically, my computer through the FTP port. The problem was that it couldn't create a new socket instance (error variable is set to TRUE and status is set to 4, wich I don't know the meaning) because I didn't have a server-side application that listens to TCP/IP socket requests. That said, I found an open source application called SocketTest that listens for TCP/IP socket requests on a specified IP address and port. So, I started a listener on the following address : 127.0.0.1:21, but the error variable is still set to TRUE and status is still set to 4. So, my questions are : Is my IP address OK ? Is my port number OK ? What means the status code 4 ? Is SocketTest doing what I think it does ? Do I need to do something else before using the SOCKET_CREATE instruction ? Thank you in advance for your help !
  3. Hie, I am from a power utility company with almost 100% SCADA-ready facilities. the next challenge is trying to convert all these overwhelming site information into ACTIONABLE infos. The idea is to establish a dedicated centre (NOT a control centre) as a Monitoring Master Station and also as the Real-Time Asset Management and Predictive Maintenance tool. Question: Anyone can share experience/review on suitable Software and Hardware for such Master Station? If possible, inclusive of Front End module/ Historian/ Database Server/ Intelligent Software for input logics, etc.
  4. NB Designer V1.4

I found NB Designer really struggled running on Windoze 10 Pro x 64 bit - bloody painful to be honest - on both the massively fast desktop and very fast laptop - no time to wait around - likes my horse power. Selected it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode - way better - quite nippy actually. Highly recommended - it appears the NB Designer team may have not quite caught up with the latest Windoze OS.
  5. Hi.  I'm running a Windows 7, 64-bit machine.  I have NB Designer 1.4 installed.  when I plug in the nb7w-tw00b, it shows up as "MTP USB device", and that the driver install failed. so I opened Device manager and find the item, I right-click "MTP USB device", and "update drivers".  I click "Browse for my drivers" and navigate to "C:\programfiles (x86)\omron\nb-designer\driver".  I check "Include subfolders".  then click next.  it does not find the drivers.  says "MTP drivers are the best" So I try again: right click the "MTP USB device" but this time I click "browse for drivers", then "Let me pick from my device drivers...".  i navigate to C:\programfiles (x86)\omron\nb-designer\driver.  I select the bulksub.INF file, and i get this error: "The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device.  If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with WIndows for x64-based systems" NOTE: I just tried this on a Windows 7 32bit machine. same problem.  Except the message says "Make sure it is designed to work with Windows for x32-based systems"   Any thoughts to get this to work?
  6. I'm looking for some general information about different types of vibration/temperature sensors. What type, brand, model number, etc. will best fit my application.  Scenario: I want to monitor the vibration and temperature of multiple motors and gearboxes for a large overhead conveyor system. If an oil leak occurs and temperature increases, I want to see a temp. alert via a HMI. If a something mechanical fails, I want to see a vibration alert via a HMI.  I've looked into sensors that stick to the outside housing of the motors or gearboxes via a magnet. My concern is justifying the temperature readings. How accurate would a sensor that reads an "ambient" temperature be (compared to a thermocouple on the motor coil itself or some sort of probe)? Also, would the location of the magnet  on the motor or gearbox drastically affect the temp. or vib. readings? Has anyone had success with a similar setup? If so, what devices did you utilize? Are these systems truly beneficial?  I'm currently considering Banner's wireless products...
  7. Hi all,   This may sound like silly questions but I'm not sure whats best way to approach this apologies if it has been answered already I tried searching but didn't find anything related. What I want to do is : 1.)Add multiple bitmaps to picture in IFIX (Adding bitmap isn't problem. I'm worried that if I add 6 bitmaps to picture at once and layer them it may slow up system ??) 2.) Is there option for calling a bitmap from location in a picture and resizing bitmap when a certain tag is True ? 3.) The job I'm trying to achieve is, operator has choice of 6 axis to select on machine . They can download one axis at time to manually move axis on machine. What I want do is when the axis is loaded I want to load bitmap on screen show picture of the axis there going to move basically photo of axis physically on machine . And when they load new axis a new picture of that axis is displayed.   Any suggestion would be great.   Thanks in advance,
  8. iFix alarms all at once

Just after midnight last night a site received EVERY alarm on the HMI but nothing had shutdown.  Has anyone ever seen this?  Does anyone know why this happened or how to prevent this from happening again?  The site is not manned around the clock and the operator received a call out that the whole plant went down.  Thanks!
  9. Good day  I require some assistance with the configuration setup (GX Works 3) for FX5u PLC inter-communication (PLC to PLC), over Ethernet (using the built-in Ethernet port). The purpose of the inter-connection is data exchange. (Values stored within the PLC storage registers such as words and bits).  Does anyone perhaps support files on this such as a procedure or example? Thanks

  16. I have an application in the Visu+ Scada System, from Phoenix Contact, which makes a query in the SQL Server 2014 database. While the database was empty, queries were made perfectly, after 4 months the database grew up absurdly and then stopped running the query, returning the following error: Query timeout exceeded. I have a general table with 210 variables being written every 20 seconds. The query is made by updating the parameters in another single row table, it generates a trigger that copies the requested query to a third table and it is plotted on a chart in the supervisory system. The error occurs when Visu+ sends the parameters to be updated in the second table, returning "Query timeout exceeded.". However, when I update directly through SQL Server, it updates, generates the trigger and performs the requested query. Could someone help me solve this timeout problem, please? Thank you very much in advance!!

  20. I would like to use the actual Cycle Time (in seconds) of the NJ101 CPU in a Structured Text  math equation.  You might also call it the Task Period... However it's called, It needs to be the amount of time that has elapsed from the last calculation of the ST math equation.  It must be a variable that also satisfies this looping equation: Time:= Time +cycle time .. so that the master equation, which is calculating position information, based on TIME .. is up to date with each calculation in the loop. How do I insert that cycle-time, which might not be identical for each loop, (or, is it) ?  Thanks, Regards, Michael

  22. Quick Panel (TCP model) Upload

Hello All, I have an older Total Control Quick Panel QPI2D100L2P 10.4 inch Monochrome that I am trying to retrieve the program on. The original programmer is unknown and we do not have a copy of the program. The screen has gone out on this panel.I am using quickdesigner on an XP virtual machine. I have the correct programming cable the 8 pin DIN connector HMI-CAB-C49-JWhen I connect to the HMI, The software "sees" that the HMI is connected and says "waiting for the Display to be ready" then times out and tells me "the display is Hung" and another message "Turn display OFF" when I turn it off the software gives me the message "Turn Display ON" then when I turn it on, the software goes to "waiting for the Display device to be ready" and just sit there. Nothing more. I have waited for 20 mins for it to progress and nothing. At first I thought maybe the Panel that I am working on is just bad. However I get the same indications on another, same model, quick panel that IS working just fine. I know this is older stuff. And ProFace Support (who took over making the replacements from TCP) wont support using quick designer on anything other than a Win 2K machine or older. Anyone have experience with these panels?
  23. Is there an built in function in iFix or VB script to export tags from an offline .grf graphics file? Thanks.
