  1. I am a newbie when it comes to Ethernet/IP communication and Allen Bradley PLC setup. I have written a program in PLC to communicate with my device over Ethernet/IP communication. Communication is work fine for 1-2 hours, but later class 3 communication stops.  I captured wireshark log to debug the error. But on wireshark, I see the communication between IP address of PLC and PC port only. There is no device IP captured in wireshark.  My first question is - Is there any setting in PLC and wiresahrk to capture class 3 packets? Also, in wireshark, I see error packets "Embedded service error" when I connect two devices in line topology. When checked on Studio5000, Module shows ring fault status.  I am not sure why it took as ring topology, while my device is connected in line topology. I am not able to change it from ring to any other topology.  Can someone guide me here, how can I remove this ring fault? and what does this "Embedded service error" means? Thanks in advance!!!
  2. NX1P2 conection a CJ2M

I made an Ethernet connection between an NX1P2 and a CJ2M using network configurator and I already have a real-time data input and output connection in the memory of both plcs. I need to send a 20-byte word and when the NX1P2 is modified in the CJ2M using Sysmac Studio, it receives that string of bits, decompresses each bit to be able to activate the NX1P2 outputs.
  3. I have a setup the contains the following components that are locally connected through an Ethernet switch: FX5U PLC ------------------------ IP: GOT GS2107 -------------------- IP: 2x DAQ LabJack T7 pro ------ IP:     and My laptop ------------------------- IP: I am using the DAQs to be able to read many Analog signals. The DAQs working as servers, while the PLC is the client. They are connected through Simple CPU Communication function in Gx Works3. The PLC is reading the holding registers in the DAQs at a specific timing rate (100ms default). I tested the communication and it is working good. Here is the problem: If the laptop is directly connected to the network through the Ethernet switch, the communication times out after some time (few minutes up to like 30 minutes). I checked this through the Simple CPU Communication Diagnostics as shown in the photo. I don't know why this happening. I tried many things including: 1. Reduce the communication execution interval. Instead of 100ms, I changed it to be 200ms. Still have the same issue. 2. I tried to avoid connecting the laptop to the Ethernet network by connecting the PLC through the GOT which has a USB port. The connects the PC to the GOT USB port. It is working without timeout. I mean I can program, monitor, and watch the PLC by the laptop through the USB connection to the GOT. However, I want to log some data using the CPU Module Configuration Tool software, which supports only Ethernet connection to the PLC. Also, I want to use the real time monitoring through the GX Logviewer software, which also supports Ethernet connection only. 3. I have setup the External Device configuration to have MELSOFT Connection module and two active connection module, but still have the same issue. Another annoying point is that I cannot detect the status of the connection. I have to keep watching the Simple CPU Communication diagnostics. Could you please help me to solve this issue. 4. Hi, has anyone tried to get a Mitsubishi iQ-R to communicate with the Keyence IV3 series cameras over Ethernet/IP?  There are videos about how to use the IV3 with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLCs but Rockwell's implementation of EIP is completely different from Mitsubishi's implementation. I am using an existing system with the RJ71EIP91, I have the IV3 EDS file added to the Ethernet/IP Configuration Toll for RJ71EIP91 software, I know I need to add the IV3, set the IP address and connection number. But how do I access the data, and send the trigger for the IV3? The instruction videos for Allen-Bradley uses the I/O tree to create tags and pre-made AOI's to create the logic to do all of the communication work in the PLC code, which is a process that I am familiar with. However, none of that is relevant to the Mitsubishi PLCs.  I figure I have to use somethning like Uxx\Gxxxxxxx in my logic to access the data for the IV3 from the RJ71EIP91 module but not sure how to get that to and from the actual IV3. Does anyone have any ideas? (sorry my initial post was blank, accidentally prematurely posted).
  5. Hello! I have TIA portal V19 version installed and I have a project with CPU 1513 PN and KTP900 panel. Connection between panel and CPU is not working. With older version, V18 it is working fine. Any ideas?
  6. Pilz & FX5U communication

Hello, I am relatively new to gxworks and I am struggling to find any help online regarding communicating between a pilz and fx5u. I am trying to communicate between a pilz m b0 & m ES Eth to a FX5U PLC. I am not having any luck with them communicating with each other. On the ethernet configuration on GX works 3 I am getting a constant ‘connecting’ in the TCP status section. I have function blocks setup in the code. The ip address is correctly set on the pilz unit. The PLC and pilz are connected to each other with an ethernet switch, when I am connected to the switch from my laptop I can go online with them both at the same time. If you require anymore information please ask, I understand I am may be missing something. Any help would be very much appreciated
  7. Hi everyone , I need your help !!! I am currently working on a project where I have to control a stepper motor (oriental motor AZD CEP) with a proface HMI. To do this I use implicit Ethernet IP messaging. The problem is this: when I change screens, I lose the connection between the two devices. After 20-30 seconds, the connection is reestablished. I've already spent two days on it and I can't figure out where the problem is coming from. Does anyone have any idea what's wrong? If you need additional information or screenshots to understand, let me know. Thank you in advance for your help.
  8. Hi all , I have been using MELSEC - Q series plc for the past two project i dont find any issue with that but for the third project  used same PLC same model but there is issue which I found unable to resolve  The issue is when i try to communicate PLC using LAN cable by direct ethernet connection it works normally but by communicating using HUB network I cannot communicate, I checked all the parameters setting, I dont know what is the issue even contacted mitshubshi service to troubleshoot but they are not responding  So here i am for your guidence to solve this issue   see the images below to analyse this issue This connection is direct ethernet connection which works normally    The parameters are set and writed to PLC The IP is set to my PC for communication  When i try to find the cpu in the network it shows the cpu IP  After that I checked for connection Test it show error I have also attached the Network route which i used to communicate  Network Drawing.pdf I hope someone will help me to solve this issue Thank you , madhan ravichandran
  9. Hi there! I've been looking for some fault codes table for the 1734-AENTR adapters, since I'd like to show a message in HMI with some information when there is a faulty adapter, but I haven't found anything on the internet. So my question is, is there any type of table like this for these adapters? Right now I have a PLC with some AENTR adapters in the program for testing, and since there is actually no adapter connected to it, I can see a 16#2024 error in the module properties, but can't seem to find that info in the module variables.   Do you guys have any clue on how to find this information in order to show it?   Thanks in advance!
  10. Good afternoon, I've done a bit of research in regards to running a Zebra printer via ethernet from an Omron PLC but there's not much info out there. Has anyone had much success printing barcodes to a Zebra printer from PLC via ethernet? I'm using an Omron NA5 (HMI) which I've designed to displays 12 different buttons indicating different barcodes, but I'm unsure how to link these buttons to the specific barcode files that I've created in Zebra Designer.. Would anyone know how I might be able to accomplish this?
  11. Hi All, I am working on a project using and NJ101 to communicate via CIP Ethernet to a PC based vision system. The vendor that makes the vision software has previously only worked with Allan Bradley PLC's and only knows how to setup communication using the Generic Ethernet Bridge. From what I can see this Generic Ethernet Bridge is essentially a generic EDS file that you are adding some parameters to (Input Instance, Output Instance, Configuration Instance) and it takes care of the setup. Is there any way to do this with Omron Sysmac Studio or Network Configurator? I have had some success CIPOpen, CIPSend, CIPClose function blocks but it is pretty clunky, I would prefer to have something more cyclic running in the background more like a standard Ethernet IP device.
  12. Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to get a click PLC to communicate with a Fanuc robot over ethernet/IP when the robot has the ethernet/IP adapter package.  I am a little new to this, but I am worried that I might have to have a scanner / master in order to be able to communicate over ethernet/IP.  Thanks in advance for the assistance.

  15. Hello, I'm a little experienced, a little new with (I hope) a fairly beginner question. I've got a customer that has a pre-existing HMI running a Factorytalk View SE - Network program.  The customer would like to make some changes to the HMI, and I feel pretty confident that I could do this; the only problem is I'm having difficulty connecting to their system and downloading a version of the program that I can edit. Almost every How to video and instructional PDF that I can find appears to start from the premise that I created the program and have an existing copy on my computer or am starting from scratch, but that is not the case.  I know the IP address of the Networked PC that is running the HMI and can ping it etc, but I do not know how to connect to it.  I even have a copy of almost all of the files that the PC is running from the customer, but do not have a file that I can open in FTView to edit or change then download; I think I'm missing the .cli file or somesuch? Do I have to be directly logged on to the PC or can I be on my programming laptop and connect via Ethernet->switch->PC (I think I need FactoryTalk Linx for that, which I have a licensed copy of)?  I know that Machine Edition requires a .mer file to be able to open and edit an HMI program, is the network edition the same? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  16. Hello! I'm currently using NB designer v1.531 (Build 210511) and I'm having compilation errors. It states: Connecting... Connection Error PT HMI0 Compilation error! Cannot create pkg files! I'm have trouble understanding, what does this error mean? I'm not connecting to any HMI, I just want to compile the program and test it offline. The weirdest thing is that if i click "Compile" enough times, it will eventually compile, but this is really interrupting the workflow. Does anybody else have this issue?
  17. I currently have two NX1P2 PLCs communicating back and forth over ethernet IP. However, I am looking to expand this project across multiple PLCs and I need a way for one PLC to see all other PLCs that are connected to the LAN network via Ethernet IP. I can use the _EIP_EstbTargetSta[255] function which is a boolean value that returns true if there is an established connection  to a device where the last octet of the IP is specified in the array [255].  This function works well but my PLCs are configured with the subnet And I need to see the connection status based on the third octet. Is there an existing function that I can use, or is there a way to view the full structured text for the _EIP_EstbTargetSta[255] function and modify it to suite my specific application?
  18. Hi everyone! I am attempting to read EIP tags from an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix from an Omron NX1P2 using the Sysmac Studio function block "CIPUCMMRead." I have been successful in reading arrays and single variables no problem. However, when I want to read arrays from a structure in the Allen-Bradley PLC, I always get an error code in the CIPUCMMRead ErrorID of either 0400 or 1C00 for ErrorID and ErrorIDEx is FF00 2105 depending on what I enter in for Size on the function block (attaching screenshots with both error codes).   The errors show on multiple "read" function blocks at once but it only affects data coming out of the function block where I try to read in a BOOL array from a structure in the ControlLogix PLC. If I enter a UINT#1 for the Size, I get ErrorID 0400. If I enter UINT#2, 3, or 4, I get ErrorID 1C00 with ErrorIDEx being FF00 2105. I've been digging for a while and can't find that specific combo of codes, but it looks like it's a size issue. From what I can tell, the Size is in Bytes. So if I have 32 Bools it should be a Size of UINT#4 max, right? Any help would be greatly appreciated! The function block having issues is setup the exact same as the other two that read from the same structure; I even copied and pasted them from each other and just changed the FB name and the postfix in the SrcDat string (from MyBools to MyDints/MyReals). Here are the screenshot: 1. Allen-Bradley Structure 2. CIPUCMMRead Function Block with size 4 3. CIPUCMMRead Function Block with size 1
  19. S7 300

    Hallo, I have two operational S7 PLC's : 1 x  S7-300 and 1 x S7-1200. Both PLC's I want access in our internal netwerk, but S7-300 have only a MPI-connection and not a RJ45-connection (profibus) What can I do to access both in the same network ?
  20. Omron FINS/TCP Reconnecting

Hey I'm trying to implement reconnecting for FINS/TCP protocol, according to W421 Omron documentation (link: ), but it not working. According to diagram in 7-4 section at 183 page, after connection lost and restore connection to the Internet, Client(PC) should again connect with PLC using the same Client(PC) FINS Node Id. PLC should detect connection error and response with error code 00000021 hexadecimal: Specified node is already connected. It works. After this should I close socket (created after restore connection) or this socket should be closed automatically by PLC? Then I should create new socket (third) and connect with the same Client(PC) FINS Node Id should be possible. But i've got "Specified node is already connected" error again. PLC dosn't forget before connection. Why? What I'am doing wrong?   // Client FINS Node id = 50, Server FINS Node id = 10. Standard communication works public void TestReconnect() { // connect on TCP Layer this.tcpClient.Connect(base.ipEndpoint); // NADS Frame - finsClientNode = 0 - autoallocation this.SendNodeAddressDataSend(); // Power interruption!!! // creating new socket, old socket is unavailable this.tcpClient = new TcpClient(); // connect on TCP Layer this.tcpClient.Connect(base.ipEndpoint); // NADS Frame - use finsClientNode autoallocated before // should return error "The specified node is already connected." this.SendNodeAddressDataSend(); // disconnect on TCP Layer, should i do this? this.tcpClient.Close(); // creating new socket, old socket was closed this.tcpClient = new TcpClient(); // connect on TCP Layer this.tcpClient.Connect(base.ipEndpoint); // NADS Frame - use finsClientNode autoallocated before // shouldn't return error "The specified node is already connected." // because connection with this node was closed before this.SendNodeAddressDataSend(); } private NodeAddressDataSendResponse SendNodeAddressDataSend() { /* byte clientNodeId = finsRequestDataProvider.GetClientNodeId(); byte[] header = new byte[] { F, I, N, S, // 'F' 'I' 'N' 'S' 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x0C, // 12 Bytes expected 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, // NADS Command (0 Client to server, 1 server to client) 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, // Error code (Not used) 0x00, 0x00, 0x00, clientNodeId // Client node address, 0 = auto assigned };*/ var nodeAddressDataSendRequest = this.finsRequestFactory.CreateNodeAddressDataSendRequest(); var nodeAddressDataSendResponse = this.Execute(nodeAddressDataSendRequest); this.finsRequestDataProvider.StoreAutoallocatedNodeId(nodeAddressDataSendResponse.ClientNodeId, nodeAddressDataSendResponse.ServerNodeId); return nodeAddressDataSendResponse; }   Thanks for any help
  21. Hi gentlemen, I have I bottle capping machine and I'm reading the torque value from one of the Sureservo2 drives. As the bottles pass through the machine, I need to display the peak torque value and hold it until the next bottle passes through. This machine could run up to 100 bottles a minute. I would also like to display a 10 bottle peak torque average. Does anyone know of a good way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
  22. Hello everyone, I want to use my own computer as plc. I have a molex brand SST-PB3-PCU SST card. I will connect my I/O modules to the profibus adapter, then I will connect the adapter to the SST card. Can Codesys see this SST card and if so how do I make the connection. I can connect this type of connection in the InControl (an old software) program that I used before.  Please Help Me!! The Board I use to connect the I/Os to the computer: SST-PB3-PCU  Profibus Adapter to which I connect I/Os: 1794-APB | Allen Bradley PROFIBUS Adapter Module My I/O Modules: Allen Bradley 1794-IB16 and 1794-OB16 My OS: Win10 64 bit Codesys Version: CODESYS V3.5 SP18 Patch 3
  23. Dear all, I'd like to get your support on the issue with OPC UA certificate. My OPC UA server has been built with Node.js. The PLC S7-1500 (firmware v2.9) acts as OPC UA client. It's working well without certificate but when I use certificate, there are 2 situations: 1. When connecting using "Online access" (as attachment) in the "OPCUA Communication >> Client interfaces", I can connect with certificate (after I export and copy the PLC's certificate to the trusted folder of the server). --> server is ok. 2. When coding and running with real PLC: can't connect, there is even no PLC's certificate on the rejected folder of the server and there is no any error, the Status of block "OPC UA Connect DB" is still 16#0000_0000. So, what I did with certificate in TIA Portal (V17) are: - Enable the Global security setting for certificate manager - Created (and tested) with both self-signed certificate and CA certificate for PLC - Added server's certificate to trusted list in "Certificate manager" of TIA Portal (also added to the "Certificate of the partner devices" in  Device config) - In "OPCUA Communication >> Client interfaces", chose the Security Mode/Policy and PLC's certificate (already tried with and without this setting) In my point of view, the problem is that the PLC received the certificate but somehow it didn't read correctly or didn't compare with the certificate in the trusted list because if the PLC does this step, it should send its certificate to (the rejected folder of) server. Could anyone help me to solve this issue? Thank you in advance.   [Update] 1.The PLC throw the error code 16#8016_0000 (BadCertificateHostNameInvalid/The HostName used to connect to a Server does not match a HostName in the Certificate - as I searched in google) but it's very quick so I could not see this behavior at the beginning. 2. I have tested with UA Expert, I can connect without any problem/warning. So, the high confidence that problem comes from PLC. ----------  Best regards, Danh Vo
  24.  We have been tasked with saving money on equipment within our 4 plants here in the USA. I would like to investigate using low cost HMI's, I've had great success using C-more in the past. Has anyone had any of the several low cost HMI's attached to Emerson PAC (AKA GE Prophecy) PLC's? has there been any connectivity issues? I'd like to try one to replace the Emerson HMI's which are hard to source, and expensive. I believe any time setting up a low cost option would offset the cost of the Emerson, and open up our choices of HMI's and not be boxed in to one brand. We also use Profinet along with Ethernet connection, I believe the Emerson HMI only uses Ethernet (for us) but if there is a Profinet version that is easy to set up, that would make it an easy sale for me.   This HMI would also have to work with the older 90-30 series PLC's, but i'm pretty sure the communications have not changed much from the to the stand alone RSTi-EP and RX3i PLC's. Any advice would be appreciated.  Have a great week.
  25. Hi. what i've gathered, i need an EDS-file for the siemens s7-1200-system to be able to specify an ethernet connection in sysmac from the omron plc side to connect to the siemens ethernet/ip server. Anyone know where or how to get an EDS file for the siemens plc so i can import it into EIPprofiles in sysmac?
