  1. Hi.  My name is Jim, and I am brand new to this forum.  I see posts related to ProSoft Gateways, and hoped there might be some here that could advise me on setting up a test station that will use ENET/IP to control a WeldTechCorp Anybus Profinet control using the PLX32-EIP-PND gateway.   1769-L32E CompactLogix A-B PLC (ENET-IP) to PLX32-EIP-PND to MW6000 Anybus Profinet MFDC Weld Control.   The concept is to do away with our SIEMENS S7-300 PLC that would connect to the welder.  This is a closed network for a test process, and  hopefully very simple, essentially only involving these three components.  A-B PLC to gateway to Welder. Am I missing any key things?  I read a few posts, many 8 years or older,  I appreciate any who can take the time, if you have the experience.  Also, if you know other resources about ProSoft, or should I be asking ProSoft directly?

  8. I have a Siemens HMI 6AV2 124-0MC01-0AX0 in my machine. I want to clone the display on the HMI to PC/Laptop. My question is: 1. What software that I need for this task? 2. What kind of interface that I need between the HMI and PC/Laptop (for example ethernet cable, etc)? 3. Do I need to communicate with PLC connected with HMI or can I just connect with the HMI? Thanks in advance for the answer.
  9. Omron CJ1M CPU11 - ProfiNet - Siemens

Hello guys, newbie here. Wait, where are you all going...? Don't go! I've got *some* experience. And a job on my hands. I've got an Omron CJ1M with a CPU11. Attached, is a PNT21 Profinet IOController. At the other end, it is going to be a Siemens SIMATIC ET 200AL, PROFINET interface module IM 157-1 PN with a couple of digital input and output modules attached. The hardware isn't here yet, otherwise I'd just jump straight into trouble. Probably. I've got it mostly setup in ConfiguratorFDT with the GSD files from Siemens. The question: How do I map the Symbols to the digital IO at the other end of the profinet? Can I just set the symbol address to the IO areas that ConfiguratorFDT show me, ie, 3300 for the inputs, etc? Thanks!

  12. GX Configurator 2.01B

Hello all,  I'm have an issue with GX configurator, I have a project which includes devices connected to plc (R08) and when I add them manually in GX Configurator and then load to PLC I'm getting connection. But when I want to run diagnostic or detect devices through network detection I'm always getting timeout error: status 33. Anyone got the same problem or know how to solve it?
  13. Hi, to start, I'm very new to Siemens PLCs, but quite experienced on others (mainly ABB). I'm looking to set up a profinet network between an ABB AC500 PLC and an S7-1200. The goal is to transfer variables from an existing S7-1200 (owned by the customer) to my new AC500. It is required that I do this without having to stop the S7-1200. I can set up the AC500 as a profinet device, and have the S7-1200 remain as the controller, but this requires a config change on the S7-1200, which means I'd have to stop the PLC. I tried setting up the ABB as a profinet controller, but I'm having trouble finding a GSDML for the S7-1200 to allow me to do this.  Can anyone advise me on the best route to take to solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
  14. I'm trying to setup some interlock signals between a CompactLogix L33ERMS and an optical gauge.  The gauge only offers PROFINET as the fieldbus for interlock signals (hard-wiring is not an option).  The PROFINET connection for interlocks in the gauge is supplied via a Beckhoff EL6631-0010 PROFINET RT device terminal (connected to a Beckhoff CX8010 bus coupler, but I assume that is not relevant). The PROFINET connection on the CompactLogix side is supplied via ProSoft PLX31-EIP-PND "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET® IO Device Gateway". My PROFINET experience is zero, and the ProSoft gateway was selected before my involvement in the project.  It seems to me that one of the PROFINET devices needs to be a controller or "master" on the network.  Right now, both the ProSoft and Beckhoff devices appear to be devices or "slaves", but the terminology is fuzzy to me (PROFINET IO vs PROFINET RT, etc.). Should I be able to make the connection using current ProSoft Device gateway, or do I need to upgrade to a PLX82-EIP-PNC "EtherNet/IP™ to PROFINET Controller Gateway" or equivalent?  Does at least one of the devices on the network need to be controller-level? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I am needing some guidance on an application I'm working on. I'm trying to obtain data from a profinet slave device to an Allen Bradley compactlogix PLC. I am using a Prosoft PLX82-EIP-PNC profinet-/ethernet-ip gateway as a median to allow me to access the profinet data. In RSlogix5000, I have created an EIP Class 1 connection for the profinet controller and AB PLC (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The same structure is created in the profinet controller (248 words of input data, 248 words of output data). The profinet gateway and PLC are communicating properly. From my profinet slave device, I have a specification that the data is structured within a 23 byte format. Connecting to my profinet gateway, I can see this data. I have attached an image that shows the specification of the profinet data and the data values displayed inside the profinet controller. From the PLC side, I'm needing to be able to see this data and put it in meaningful values. I am using the profinet slave device's internal temperature as an example to work towards. I'm not sure the best way to be able to handle this data and structure it to a meaningful value inside the PLC. (I am using the device's internal temperature as an example to try and get into the PLC).   Thanks,

  17. All, I am using Keyence CV-X422A vision controller for my application. It is interfaced with Siemens S7-1500 PLC on PROFINET. I am able to communicate with Vision controller through PLC logic command and status IOs. There is some communication issue in updating the o/p values from Camera Controller. I have tried with & w/o Handshake Mode with these settings. The camera display shows the reject but camera never turns ON the NG Status o/p. I tried different things told by Keyence Tech support but none of them worked.  He told me to have you enable the “Result ACK Flag” in the bit allocation area and send  a signal to it. Then trigger it again with a no good part and see if that fixes the issue. I tried setting the “Result ACK Flag” to 1 after I get the “Command Complete Flag” for the trigger signal that I sent. Sometimes this works but still it is not reliable. Do I need to send only a pulse to “Result ACK Flag”? Anyone here has ever faced similar issue?  Thanks for your help. AP
  18. The OPC Server for Siemens Controllers

Good day to all forum members. I think many engineers are faced with the need to connect Siemens controllers to various SCADA systems. In most cases, the OPC technology is used to make such a connection. We want to offer participants to try our product, the OPC server for the Profinet protocol applied in Siemens controllers. Our OPC server supports the following standards: OPC DA 2.05, OPC HDA 1.2 and OPC UA (transfer of archives is supported too). Controllers of the following series are supported: S7-200, S7-300, S7-400, S7-1200 and S7-1500. The OPC server provides the interactive import of tags from the Tia Portal environment, and this simplifies configuring the server. The OPC server contains the built-in client for monitoring values, and this simplifies communication debug. There are the following modifications of the OPC server: - Demo version (full-featured, 1 hour continuous operation in the runtime mode) - Free version (32 tags at the most) You can download the trial version here: http://opc-server.com/catalog/mullti-protocol/profinet/ In addition to the OPC server for the Profinet protocol, we also support such protocols as Modbus, Omron FINS, Bacnet, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC61850 and SNMP.   We would love to hear feedback and feature requests to our products.

  20. Hi all, I will be starting on my MSc in automation in a couple of days so for that reason i have obtained a S7-1200 series 1211AC/DC/RLY PLC. This is a new area for me as i have been working in offshore since i graduated from my BSc a couple of years ago. I watched some Youtube tutorials on how the programming is done and i am ready to try it out for myself, but i have encountered a little problem.   Problem: I am using the X1 P1 PROFINET (LAN) port as a connection to my PC, this turns the Green Link light on and the Rx/Tx lights blinks orange. Now to the problem, i cannot connect to the PLC through the TIA portal, no matter what settings and connection types i use in the PG/PC interface box. I have had no luck finding leturature adressing how to configure the PC/software and get a connection to the PLC. Do any of you have a PDF or link which can help me through this problem?  Hardware: S7-1200 series 1211AC/DC/RLY 6ES7 211-BE40-0XB0 S C-J5PN 1614 2017 FS:05 Software: TIA Portal Version 13 STEP 7 Professional V13 WinCC Basic V13   Thanks   Best regards   Dennis
  21. S7-1500 FW v 2 / Profinet issues non-Siemens devices

Hello: Has any body encountered Profinet IO cyclic communication establishment problems between the latest S7-1500 PLC with firmware 2.0 or later and non-Siemens Profinet devices which had previously passed conformance testing campaigns? Thanks for your comments.
  22. Hello, I am new to the Beckhoff PLC systems and PROFINET. For one of the applications I am trying to connect ETHERCAT module to the PROFINET Controller which is in turm connected to IO modules. I am using the following modules: ETHERCAT coupler EK1100,EL6631 (Controller), EL6631(Device) --> EL6631(Controller)*,EL1008 (Input module) The connection between EL6631(Device) --> EL6631(Controller)* is via Ethernet cable. I am not able to configure the connection in the above mentioned fashion. Please let me know if this is a valid configuration? Is there any simpler way to achive this. And I am using the TwinCAT3 software on my PC.   Thanksk in advance :)
  23. Siemens S7-1500 and SICK

Hello all, Let me start by saying that although I have been working with PLCs for 20+ years I am very (as in brand) new to the Siemens world (my wheelhouse is AB). That being said I have a Siemens S7-1500 (1511 specifically) CPU with a couple of SICK multi-turn Profi-Net encoders (AFM60A-S4NB018x12) that I need to talk to. - I am using TIA v13 with all of the updates. - I have the GSD file from SICK for the encoder. - I have no clue what I am doing - I can see the encoder values update in the watch table as I move the encoder. All fine and dandy so far... Here's where the white flag is going up.... - I am of the belief that there are existing function blocks out there 'somewhere' that can read and write to the base parameters. I have contacted our local rep who deferred me to SICK. I have emailed and left messages with them and have not gotten a return anything thus far. Here's our application... We are attaching each encoder to its own rotary gear mechanism. The rotary will need to turn in the CW direction approximately 400 degrees then return to its start point by rotating in the CCW direction by the same amount. If/When production/maintenance needs to 'rehome' the assembly, the expectation is that they 'pin' the drive in a known location then a bit would be set within the CPU that would assign a specific value to the encoder's actual position. In the SICK manual (8015078/YIX6/2015-01-16) on page 31 (section 3.6.3) there is reference to Preset control. This is what I believe we need to perform the aforementioned function. Does anyone have any examples that they could share on how to read/write to these encoders by use of a Function Block or other? Relatively desperate for help at this point. Can post test code if need be. Thank you in advance, TLAF
  24. Sinamics G-120 Drive on Profinet

Dear Friends, In my present project, I have a S7-1500 PLC & 3 Nos, Sinamics VFDs(PM-240s) with Profinet ports.(CU-240E -2PN) The drives and PLCs are on the same Profinet network. I wish to know the essentials of controlling the command and speed reference of these drives directly from the PLC on profinet. Reading the help in TIA portal got me nowhere its all about Telegrams and things that I haven't figured out yet Thanks for looking in; I shall greatly value all help and advice.
