  2. Program 16 position rotary selector switch

    I have a 16 position rotary selector switch I'm trying to program to a CQM1 PLC, that I will also be programming to a micrologix 1200 in the future, using CX Programmer. The switch connects to the PLC using 4 inputs, and activates the inputs in a binary pattern 0-16 as I turn the switch. For example: if the switch is wired to the first four inputs of the PLC, and is turned to "9" 0.0 and 0.3 will be activated and 0.1 and 0.2 will not, just like binary 9 = 1001. I have tried several things trying to get the PLC to accept these inputs as a single "data-point," and then convert to BCD or Hex to use in a timer. I'm having no luck! Does anyone have any ideas how this is done? The switch is a Tosoku DPP01 015L20RCB, and because of the age of the PLC my instruction set is limited. Thank you in advance!

In this FB I've declared an IEC Timer (TON) in the static section of the FB. When I go to upload to the PLC after TIA carries out the compilation I get error message 'Data type TON is not allowed here'. I've tried creating a new FB to test and had same issue for CTU,CTD,TOF.   See attached pics This is really strange as it has always functioned before! Has anyone seen or heard of this issue before? I'd appreciate any help, Cheers.

    Hi all, First time user!  I have read many articles on this site but only just joined.  I have found a great body of knowledge and expertise here, over the years.  Anyway, due to my poor memory I have forgotten the history of iFIX.   We did several projects for a customer years ago, and now I find that my newest customer is intent on using iFIX on one of their jobs.  Just out of curiosity, does anyone remember the history?   Thanks to all, Vector671
  5. S7-300 MPI & Ethernet connection

    Hey all,   long time without posting, I don't know if i'm writing in the right place.   I have some old PLCs S7-300 ( and a couple of S7-200) that I would connect to the same general network in order to see all data from a general SCADA (I'm thinking about Ignition but could be WinCC etc).   First problem is that few of them don't have an Ethernet Card (still old MPI) and I'm searching for a converter. I've found something on internet that I could install, probably no big issues on this side.   Main problem is that others have an Ethernet connection but they are programmed to work on their own network (indipendent machine) and I couldn't change all IP addresses. I need probably a Gateway (eWon??) but I would understand better how it works. Any suggestion?   Thank you in advance for your help!!

    Hallo i have an Mitsubishi A850 GOT Display and on this i lost the programm. The company who was building the machine was sending me the program for the display but i´m not able to load it on the A850 GOT The programm was written with GT Designer2, but this software is wrong for my panel .     Hello, For my thesis i'm using a beckhoff cx9020,a sunnyboy and a sunnyisland with rs485 communication protocol sma net. One of the things I need to do is to log everything from the sunny devices realtime. and here is where my problem starts. I am using rs485 to communicate with the devices via plc but I don't find any documention for what i need to request or send to get usefull data. does anyone here have an idea? Hello there, I would like to add a "Print" button to my PanelView HMI screens that will basically do a screen capture of the current screen the button is on and then have that file saved in some format ("JPG, PDF, etc). The file could either reside in the memory of the HMI, saved to a USB drive or SD card so that an operator could retrieve the image easily. Transmitting the image over Ethernet to a PC or server would be ideal but probably a bit out there for the applications that I usually create. A local store and retrieve process is fine for now. Anyone got any advice on how to make something like that happen? Is that even possible on PV 700 or 1000 HMI units? Many thanks in advance!
  9. CP1E-N40 + CP1W-TS102

    Hi ! I have a question regarding the handling of the signal from the TS102 connected to my PLC.   I downloaded a .pdf  LINKED from "my omron", read it and put together a small program just to test the expansion unit and sensors. But I cant get any readings from the sensors and can't figure out why. I have never used a TS102 expansion unit before and would be glad if someone have an idea of what I'm doing wrong. Everything is brand new, so I'm quite sure I am the problem here..... If someone have an answer and maybe even an programming example to upload I would really appreciate it.   10. Dear Experts!!! I am facing one problem in FT View SE v8.0 : I have 15 screens : 5 "are replaceable" with full resolution and other 10 are popup displays with half the resolution of that of Monitor and are "on the top" type. I have a buttons to go to those pop up screens. Whenever I press any button to open any pop up screen the background screen (Replacable type, full screen) becomes shorten and pop up displays works like they should. i.e. whenever a pop up display opens, full background screen display suppresses automatically. Then i go to another full screen and then come to the main working full screen then it becomes ok. This phenomenon occurs whenever a pop up display open (not VBA controlled).     I was just curious on which type of data historians are considered fast at retrieving historical data.  For example, if I wanted to trend a tag at a one second interval to review an event that took place a year ago and compare that to the same tag in real-time, what historian does this the fastest?
  12. Hi All. Just got an AB Micro 850 + the PanelView 800 HMi 4", for testing. The problem I encounter is my Windows can't find the USB driver for the HMI. I have no problems with the Micro 850. I have tried it on a few different computers, all with windows 7. What to do ?
  13. Dear Experts!!!! Can you tell me the complete clear cut procedure of  PIDE autotune functioin And plz tell me when i shoukd do it ??? I.e. when the set point near the actual or when its far away and reaching to the SP. Can't i do it in FBD in Auto mode :  If yes then how??? Have to put FBD Block in manual mode always???? Any other way to autotune it???

Can anyone advise if there are data structure #s associated with each of the data types in Logix?  Example if it is a Bool, I believe Logix advises it is a 32 bit number.  But is there an "under the hood" data type reference number for each Logix data type?  I.E.  if it is a Bool, that is a RA data type #1, if it is a DINT, it is a RA data type #2, etc.  
  15. Hey all, I've reviewed a number of threads regarding converting one data type to another and I have something I'm working on that I'm stumped on and haven't found an answer for yet. Without getting into the details, I need to get a DINT bit value from an entered decimal value. A user will enter in a whole number in an entry box and then it needs to get converted to the number of whatever bits that the DINT number holds. For instance: # Entered Variable Bit Value -----0------------------0 -----1------------------1 -----2------------------3 -----3------------------7 -----4-----------------15 etc... I'm looking for a fairly clean way to do this, with perhaps just two or three instruction blocks to handle it, if possible. I can provide a screenshot of the HMI and the logic (4 rungs) if necessary. Any suggestions or advice from the group would be greatly appreciated!

  21. I'm trying to use CX-Server to pull data from my Omron CJ2H PLC directly into Excel. I'm able to pull a single element into excel, but when I try to pull more than one element, I get a huge strand of numbers. Is there a way that I can set up a single point in DDE Manager that'll hold all the elements that I need, then in excel have a formula that will pull out specific memory elements. Specifically I'm trying to pull data from D7200-D7399, and put each element into a separate cell it in a chart that ranges from B3-K22 This is what the formula looks like when I copy a point into excel =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1' I didnt know if I could put something at the end of each string to call out specific elements, but I keep getting "#BadPoint" =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7200' =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7201' ... =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7399' Any help would be great

    I want to put a Numerical Input on the screen to show a timer counting up. How do I make the display show whole seconds instead of tenths of a second as set by K in the timer? Is there somewhere that I can divide the input by 10? Thanks Denbo

    Hello to all Since a certain time I've noticed that the parameters values sent to the plc via IHM are not anymore recognized by the plc I'm obliged to re-enter other parameter values to see the machine working fine again. The plc reference is: CJ1M CP 21 The IHM reference is NS10 What would be the problem,? Best regards.
  25. CS1G-H CPU42 with CS1W-PRM21 problem

    Hello everybody, I have a problem connecting CS1G-H CPU42 with CS1W-PRM21. Prm21 is inserted in slot 9, and i have previously made connection to prm21. After downloading configuration to prm21 i cant connect to prm21 anymore (connection to plc is working fine). The cx-configurator says CS1W-PRM21 PROFIBUS DP-V1 Master Communication Failure with UnitERH is on (red), BF is flashing red, RUN is on (green), PRM is on (green) and BST is flashing green. How can i restore comunication with the cs1w-prm21 to diagnose the problem? After some examination the problem is (probably) that i have configured prm21 to write in the adresses of CIO3000 to CIO3400. That is interfiering with other address. Is there any way to force the output of the prm21 off, or make device go in offline mode.At the power on of the prm21, i can test the connection via cx-configurator and is working and after 2 seconds the prm21 goes to stop mode and begin writing to address of the sysmac bus area. I am thinking if i can stop prm21 from writing to that area i will be able to connect and load default configuration.is that any way to stop the prm21 from automatic start? or is there a way to reset prm21 to factory settings? best regards
