Greetings, My application is utilizing two Omron CP1L PLCs connected through an RS232 serial link to achieve PC Link. We're essentially using this setup to message data between the two PLCs. With a hard-wired link, it works great. I can force bits in the master PLC, and see them in the slave PLC. However our application requires this link to be wireless. We got our hands on two SENA Parani SD1000 units. I've worked with these units previously to connect a serial scanner to a Rockwell PLC quite successfully. After reading through datasheets, we figured out the pin-out from Serial Comms unit fitted to the CP1Ls wasn't quite standard. So we adapted our own cables to re-route VCC and SG appropriately. So with a hard-wired link, this setup works, and the comms units on the PLCs have a nice solid lit up comms light. But with the wireless parani connection, the comms light lights up, but it is very dull compared to the wired link, and we get no data transfer. I've verified to the best of my understanding that the comm settings all match, at 9600 Baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and Even parity. Just curious if anyone has any suggestions to get this working, or if there are any settings that I might have missed that make PC Link a unique form of RS232 that these parani units can't handle? I've identified online alternative units known as the Promi SD205-OA, which has a pin-out to match the OMRON CP1L PLCs. As far as I can tell though, the units themselves function the same as the Parani SD1000 besides this pin out. Anyone know differently? Presently the serial connections made are Tx -> Rx, Rx -> Tx, Vcc -> Vcc, and SG -> SG. Would I require anymore connections? Our wired link seems to work just fine with just those connections. Any help would be greatly Appreciated!!

Dear Expert, i'm issue to do communication CP1E with PC via RS232. im try to use plc for sending information and receive by hyperterminal pc. after googling some information there have multiway to success. by the way until now cannot settle. please expert share completed setup that's work: 1. communication cable from PLC - PC (my information use pin (2,3,9 jumper 4&5) - (2,3,5 jumper 7&8) 2. sample program that works (im using TXD & RXD with memory D1000 to keep data) 3. connection cable to PC using MOXA Serial to USB converter. 4. plc serial setting (default: 9600,7,N,1,Host link) my target to give instruction to printer to start print. printer need ACSII code. if this communication success i'm will convert all data to ACSII by ACSII convert function. thanks,

Hi everyone, I'm trying to connect a computer to a SLC 5/04 via the RS232 interface without success. The same module has been running and connecting/programming via the round DH+ connector just fine. So when I start it up now, I can put it into run mode, DH+ LED blinking. The problem is I can't establish the RS232 connection, first time ever I work with a PLC... I've used two different computers with RSLinx and RSLogix500 installed, one with a proper COM port, one with a USB adapter. When I define a new driver in RSLinx the Auto-Configure gives the error message in the attached picture. I'm using a standard COM port cable plus a F/F gender switcher. Both checked with a multimeter, no twisting or switching of contacts going on. One problem is I don't even know if the RS232 LED is supposed to be active as soon the cable connects the PLC and the computer, or only if there is an active data transfer. So I don't know if the actual connection is at fault, or if I'm doing something wrong in the software. Any tip would be greatly appreciated! Volker

Hello All I am new to Mitsibishi servodrive, i am using a Beckhoff PLC TwinCAT3 and MR-J4-TM servo drive from mitsubishi , i connected the servo to the NTwinCAT using etherCAT. I was able to write a program where i was able to activate the servo from the TwinCAT using the mc_Power instruction . My question is , i am not able to run the servo using the mc_movevelocity and mc_moverelative . Do any one have any suggestion to how to go from here .. datei_Mr-J4-TM_TwinCat_EtherCAT.pdf

Hello everyone, I need help for the titled matter. The problem is that i am using CX programmer v 6.1 trial version 30 days. The error i am getting is PLC failed to connect. so the cable in attachment is right one? It is CN226 USB to Peripheral port cable. DIP switches are all off. Should in set them in on off state? if yes so whats the sequence? Replies will be highly appreciated Thanks

Hi all, I have a micrologix 1400 plc and an SIC E10 engraving machine. the engraver requires its marking info ( day/year/random sequential number etc) to be sent to it via rs232 connection. the manuals have nearly melted my brain and I have no clue how to convert and send this type of info via rs232. please help. thanks NOTPROTOE10V6US-R04.pdf

Hi, I write app to smartphone to communication omron CJ1m and Android. I want to connect devices by standard bluetooth. I plug in bluetooth adapter directly to omron RS232. I want to ask you, how i can connect by FINS command. Bluetooth device baud rate is set 9600. If i connect to omron, i sent code: "AC01" and i sent how long as omron return me "AC01" ?? And what's next command i sent? If I want read CIO 10 i sent: "0101B000000A" ? and FCS and "*" ?? how i calculate FSC? Is it XOR my data sent?

We are upgrading our A900 GOTs (finally) and I'm looking into updating our key switches to rfid readers. Does anyone know of a good rs232 rfid reader to pair with a GS2107 GOT Simple? Also if anyone has had luck with scripting for security levels and could post a sample (be it GOT1000/2000) it would be awesome sauce.

Hello, i'm newbie for plc. i want to ask about PC/computer send data to PLC CP1E with serial communication (RS232). my wiring cable is: PC PLC 2 2 3 3 5 9 4&6 7&8 4&5 and if i send data from PC to PLC, my indicator in COMM is blinking. i think the cable have no problem. but if i send data from PC to PLC, the memory is not same as what i send and whatever i send data, the memory didn't change. i will attach my ladder diagram. what should i do? i am new in plc programming . i know the basics difference between the rs232, rs422, rs485. but i am little bit confused in it. so i have the following question regarding these terms. 1. can these protocols communicate with each other i mean rs232 can communicate with rs422 or rs485 and same. 2. my plc has port rs422 but i can connect it with my laptop serial port which is rs232 ? 3. what are the main important points that kept in mind during communication or cross communications. any help will be greatly appreciated.

I’m working on a project in twincat 3 from Beckhoff in which I made a Global variables list, a function block and a visualisation. When I call the FB in the program I made and add some of the Global variables to this FB, I can’t control them in any way. Nor in the visualisation, nor in my program itself. What do I have to do to make these Global variables work?

And i want to ask about, how to compare value from weighing scale ? example : from the picture you can see value of weighing scale is " ST,+00160.66 g", and i want to compare it with 180 or 150 to give output on to lamp. I recently purchased the SIEMENS CONNECTION KIT (6ES6400-1PC00-0AA0) with its corresponding serial cable to connect to a MICROMASTER 440. I connect my RS232-USB cable to the serial cable. But I can not connect in any way! What do I do wrong? 1. In the micromaster 440 I put the following USS configuration parameters (USS = serial communication): p2010 = 6 p2011 = 0 p2012 = 2 p2013 = 127 2. I put the DIP of the Connection Kit (Ref. 6ES6400-1PC00-0AA0) 1 ON, 2 OFF, as indicated in the manual. I connect the connection kit module with its serial cable to my RS232-USB cable. And I connect the USB to my PC. 3. Open "Set PG / PC interface" and select PC COM-Port.USS.1 4. I go to the properties and I am selected COM1 without problems. 5. But I do the transmission speed test and can not find anything. 6. Also in the diagnosis of PC COM-Port.USS.1 I do the test and can not find anything. Supposedly my RS232 cable is correct (I have tried several tests). And the configuration of the COM port in "device manager" also looks correct. What am I doing wrong?? Zhanks!

Has anyone been able to set up back and forth communication with a device that uses SCPI? I have a D2-260 and 5 Kikusui power supplies. The PLC already utilizes a RS485 Modbus network and also has an Ethernet connection. The power supplies only have a RS232 connection and uses SCPI commands. I have searched the web over and there are Modbus to ASCII converters but how to make it where to catch the response in a register for the PLC to find? I am open to anything, 5 small PLCs to there is no possible means to do this. Any direction would greatly be appreciated!

Twincat 2 with Motion control (Maxon motor) and torque sensor

Hi, I'm new to TwinCAT 2 and i'm upgrading a long time design (hence the TwinCAT 2 reference), to read a more sensitive torque signal. I'm using a Beckhoff CX1030 as my PLC Controller. I needed to add 'homing' to my motor sequence and confirmed with Maxon, im using the function blocks correctly and in the correct sequence to establish my 'absolute zero'/'home' position. The motor has an output to write to: ControlWord, which tells the motor that the position it is sitting in is '0.' My program compiles, it runs, it writes each function block, but it's not seeming to get back to the test run opMode, even though i tell it to and the function block performs the 'Write' function. it's stuck at zero and not reading an analog input signal from my torque sensor. so im getting an artificial torque reading through every test. i think this is related to my tare motion. I start the program, home the motor, get into profile velocity mode, tare my sensor, enter profile position mode, go back to position 0, then back to profile velocity mode, run a test, sample data, go back to 'home' or '0.' I wonder 1st, is my variable not linked properly through the system manager? 2nd, i set a boolean variable to set the 4th bit to 1 in my control word write (setting the 4th bit high will set my current position to absolute zero), but did i not connect the program to the main sequence properly? looking to read a valid signal again and see that my motor moves back to 'home' each time. Do i not need to home the motor after the tare, since the tare nulls out the torque value after the tare? after this i need to program my sample period, instead of it being fixed, as it is currently written and then use my home position as my trigger to start sampling.... Beckhoff applications department is overloaded, currently and can't help and this is all beyond the knowledge of the general support line. I've gotten fairly far, on my own, but of course, the project is under a time crunch. Does anyone know twincat well enough to help guide me? -

My issue is trying to receive data from a Datalogic PM9500 barcode scanner onto a Siemens ET200S (IM151-8 PN/DP) CPU using a serial interface card (6ES7 131-4BD01-0AB0) with the ASCII Protocol. The software that I'm using to program the PLC is TIA Portal V14. I made use of the built-in function block S_RCV to try and receive the data into a data block that I have created. I connected the Datalogic's base charger unit directly into the PLC's SI module. (I cut the DB9 plug off) So, Pin 5 (RXD) of the SI module is connected to the Tx wire (Brown) of the scanner, the Tx is also connected, as well as the ground, to the SI module, however, I only require the Rx. There is no flow control. Upon scanning a barcode, the Rx LED on the SI card flashes, indicating that something was received. I have tested the scanner using a terminal program called "Hercules", and I am receiving what I should be when I scan something. The parameters such as Parity, Stop Bits, and Baud Rate, etc, of the scanner corresponds to that of the SI module as well. I paramatized the S_RCV block as follows: 1.) EN_R is always ON. 2.) R is defaulted to the instance DB that was created with the function block's tag. 3.) LADDR is set to "100" as that is the start address of my SI Module as defined in the device configuration. 4.) DB_NO is set to "2" as it is the number of the data block I created for storing the received data. 5.) DBB_NO is set to "0", which I understand to be the data blocks offset start point from where to start inputting the data. The rest of the NDR, ERROR, LEN, and STATUS outputs of the function block are also defaulted to the instance DB tags. I only want to see if I'm receiving the data from the barcode scanner into the datablock. I created an array of bytes and I also tried with characters from 0 to 30 to store the data. As I mentioned, the problem comes when I'm trying to scan something, the RX LED on the SI module pulses, but when I monitor for any changes in the Function Block, as well as for any changes in the Datablock itself, nothing happens at all. I don't know what If I'm missing something, this has been bugging me for some time now, I'm quite new to the whole programming scene, I would appreciate any help I could, get also I've attached the project file too. =) Yumi_Panel.zap14

hello, Maybe somebody know how need send only hex numbers via rs232 in the external device? I tried to use SEND_RECV_MSG function block, but unsuccessful, because send ASCII code. Need send 16#AE number, but I don't have any idea how need do it. I am waiting your advice.
