  1. Anyone have experience with the old SLC-500s? I have one machine that is about 13 years old and I think they used a new old stock SLC-05/04 when they built it. Anyway I had a battery error, which makes sense since the battery was very old, and I lost my program when I tried to replace it, which makes sense because the capacitor which is supposed to hold the charge is very old. When I tried to re-download the program to the PLC, I could not connect, I realized my issue now was no null modem... and my driver not working on my RS-232 to USB converter. My question is:  What is the port above the DB-9 port used for? It was labeled PROG, so when my DB-9 serial cable didn't work I tried a serial cable for a mitsubishi FX series on the top port... and.... my power supply died. Is this a common thing on SLC-500 power supplies? Can you short them by using the wrong cable? The weird thing is the fuse on the front was not blown. Is there a fuse inside I can get to and replace? We are planning on just keeping this machine a few more years so we don't want to upgrade it. The CPU was fine afterwards.
  2. Lets say I worked in a factory that made multiple models of parts. I need to run data tracing on the off shift due to certain models only running on 2nd and 3rd shift. I want one data trace to capture one group of bits at Model 1, Then reset the Data Points and run again for Model 2, Model 3 and so on. So the Bits that I am mapping with the trace need to change.  I can change the trigger easy enough with my program. I see in the manual the CPU has a "separate memory area" for trace settings. Can this area be accessed from the Program so I can set my bit addresses to monitor to a word or E_?   See attached pic for clarification of what I aim to change through the program.
  3. Helo All, Thanks for your support on my previous quiry. Iam now facing an issue with rotation animation of a motor in factory talk view. I have a screen containing 5 motors and good number of numerical displays. Numerical displays need to be updated just every seconds ,so i changed screen updation rate in SCADA as 1, changing so decreased my motor rotation speed. so do i have any other option to change motor animation fast keeping numerical display screen updation rate as 1 second?? i have used the tag  syste/blinkfast
  4. Hello I would like to first let everyone know I am new to the world of troubleshooting or programming plc's . What we have is a SLC500 system that is connected to a Panelview 1000 HMI via the DH+ network. The issue we have is the panelview displays a gate that is suppose to be closed at as gate fault. When i connect to the plc the ladder rung shows that the gate is closed. To show various positions of the gate the programmer used N13:70 as gate opened and N13:71 as gate faulted and N13:72 as gate closed. When i checked the logic it showed the bit N13:72 as engaged or true if you will. This logic is in the ladder rung that is labeled PV Status which i take is the status the HMI reads so my question is why does it show GF when it should be reading GC. Ive searched all through the logic and it doesnt appear to be wrong here is the logic the best I can simulate it  ladder 6 rung  53  instruction is  XIC O:13.0/11 and OTE N13:76/0 (Gate Open ) and the branch is XIC I:5.0/11and OTE N13:76/1 (Gate Fault) next branch is XIC N13:3/11 and OTE N13:76/2 (Gate Closed which this section is green or highlighted or true which ever you like) when i looked at the input XIC N13:3/11 this is what I found is that this XIC is on ladder four rung10 and has the following XIC T4:154/DN and branchoff that is XIC I:5.0/11(gate opened)XIC I:6.0/11(gate closed) which these two inputs are false or not lighted the output is OTL N13:3/11 and it is true which makes the previous rung true showing the gate closed. So why is the panelview showing the wrong position. I even went as far as resetting the HMI and the PLC so if anyone has a helpful hint I would greatly appreciate it.
  5. Hello. I'm trying to connect to Microsoft SQL Server (2008 EXPRESS), but the connection is not working. I have done this in Citect SCADA 2018 without any problems using connection string: hSQL = SQLConnect("SCADA Data Provider=SQLClient.....) How can I connect to MS SQL Server using Citect 6.1? Thanks. Best regards.
  6. Hello All, I will first state that I am very new to the world of PLC's. I do the control drawings where I work. I'm trying to figure out the 1734 Point IO, specifically the 1734-IA4. The manual states "Module power is supplied from the internal power bus". Does this mean I do not need to run ANY power wires to the modules? The installation manual shows points 4,5,6 and 7 as "L1" wires?? The system I am designing, from left to right has the following: 1794-PS13, 1734-AENT, 1734-FPD, Followed by Qty. 11 1734-IA4's. I'm bringing 120VAC and 24VDC to the 1794-PS13. From the 120VAC terminals, I run wires to the FPD. From the 24VDC terminals, I run wires to the 1734-AENT. On the first 1734-IA4, I would think I should bring any power there, because its already back plane fed...….correct? Or DO I run power wires there? Thanks in advance
  7. Hi, I have a a few substations and I´d like to have a local SCADA in each of them. What is the best scada to use with reasonable price? Does anyone know if there is a solution without the need to have a PC for each substation? Thanx
  8. Is there any way of viewing a remote Proface GP or LT screen inside a second GP or LT screen? I want to do this to avoid creating and loading duplicate screens. Essentially it would be like using GP Viewer-EX where the PC is replaced with another GP or LT unit.
  9. Hello, I am having an issue with FIX Dynamics Real Time Database and the database columns available within when trying to query the database. On a system running iFIX 5.0, there are 19 data columns available, LHS of attached screenshot (in the screenshot example, crystal reports is used to view the columns). However in iFIX 5.9, only 15 columns are available (RHS of attached screenshot ), how can these missing columns be made available to be accessed? Regards, John
  10. Honeywell Experion SCADA

I haven't used Experion before, nor do I have a licence or access to a download of the application. As such I want to know how limited an unlicensed version of the product is. Is it like Citect where you may develop graphics but need a license for runtime, or is it like FTView where you need a license just to open the application? Thanks in advance

  12. Hello - I've recently started my adventure into PLC programming and I've found this site to be very helpful. I took on a project that requires control of a cylinder - the short and skinny is that the cylinder will have to provide position feedback and stroke to various set lengths determined by position of a selector switch. So - If position 1 is selected, the cylinder will stroke 20"inches. If Position 2 is selected, cylinder will stroke to 25"inches - so on and so on.   My questions is how to best go about this process. I may be having a brain-block and not viewing this clearly, but something is not clicking for me and wanted some advice. Planned on using Allen-Bradley's Micro850 PLC (had one on the shelf, and CCW software is free so why not). Thanks
  13. Dear Fellow Forumers, I am having a common problem with sending/writing data to all Modicon 140CPU53414A PLCs from our Yokogawa Fast Tools SCADA. For Example, when I write a Value(at first, value was "FALSE) "TRUE" to a modbus register, after few seconds it went back to "FALSE" and after a few seconds again, went back to "TRUE"(at this time, this "TRUE" value sent to PLC) We are using here also Ethernet Module 140NOE77101 which we used also to all PLC with Modicon 140CPU67160 but no issues like this occured. Is there any adjustments that should be made for the PLC? in Yokogawa Fast Tools SCADA, We tried to increase the value for SIGNAL_GAP(a file is attached for description) from 20 to 200(nearly maximum which is 240bytes) and writing/sending data is now ok but not all the time, so sometimes it is still having issues like that. Thanks!
  14. Modbus Addressing in Weintek HMI

Modbus addressing in Weintek HMI to poll data from Temperature sensor through RS485. In my system i have connected Temperature sensor to I/O Scanner has output in terms of RS-485 which directly connected to COM3 Port pin. No. 6 (as Negative) & 9 (as Positive) of HMI (Model No: MT8071iE) and HMI connected to PC via ETHERNET. I want to read temp on HMI screen via MODBUS protocol. So, can you please provide me instruction about addressing of MODBUS register in Easy-Builder Software so can read data of corresponding register. Because when i do compile i got an error like " Device no Response". I hope i will get reply from your side as Fast as possible to overcome this problem. Thank you.
  15. Cimplicity Auto Report Generation

Dear All, I am having a problem with my cimplicity Auto Report Generation, When I Click on Generate Report, it shows "0 values collected" does anyone knows what's possibly could gone wrong here ??
  16. Hi everybody, I have a GT2310 communicating with the Mitsubishi F800 VFD. I am using the Freqrol 800 communication driver, connected to the RS-485 terminals of the GOT and on the F800. The comm settings are the same on both devices. I also tried to use the “auto negotiation” setup. I have communication between the two devices. I can read and write to F800 registers.   Anyways, The GT designer diagnostics is complaining about a communication error in the system alarms. The error can be reset but it will appear again.   This also happened when I created a new, empty project where just the communication was setup as described above.   Did anyone experienced the problem and how to troubleshoot / solve this?   Best regards

  19. Citect...text string to sql

Hi all, Needing an assist. We been trying to send a local var alphanumeric string to an Access DB using the SQL. We can successfully send integer/real values to the DB when they are entered via the var=FormNumPad() popup. I use SQLSet, SQLAppend, and SQLExec. Since we cannot generate text using FormNumPad(), we use the var=Input() command. The local var seems to hold the value entered on the screen, but a plc address writes the value for a moment then wipes it out. Then when we use the same SQL commands for the string var, the system immediately starts throwing errors. My guess is because the value is null. Any ideas? Is there a proper way to generate a keypad or textbox on screen? We are using v. 2016 on a Win10 box. Thanks in advance.
  20. Mitsubishi GX Developer

Hello all ... i am a new plc user.. i am using D500 for taking value as it is a latched register.  i am taking value for a flow meter. i have two questions. 1. how totalizer is calculated from flow rate as my flow rate is in m3/h. 2. the value of register is gone upto 32000 approximately... i want that this value to go on.. i mean how 32 bit register is declared in plc .. a

Or is no problem of my iFIX version ?  Thanks
  22. Please assist me with the following; regarding the ME96SSHA-MB Power meter data transition with Melsec-Q series PLC; We acquire to read various values on dedicated Modbus storage address registers at the simultaneous into a Melsec-Q series PLC via Modbus (TCP or RTU)  for calculation purposes. Naturally, since the reading of these variables are to provide accurate instantaneous results, it is a requirement that these values are to be read at one scan.   However, as can be seen below, there is a gap in address register range – of which, if all of these are scanned simultaneously, yields an exception error when read. This error is only avoided by scanning these data sets separately – which is not ideal for our application – since accuracy in calculations is imperative.
