  1. Hi all, I am currently having a project of polling data from PLC CJ1M using Advantech ECU-1051 IoT gateway which support rs-232 serial connection (Host Link) to poll data from the PLC for data acquisition and monitoring, I would like to use peripheral port since rs-232c port is used for HMI. However, I am currently stuck at make the connection between those two devices. I did setup same transmission configuration between them (baudrate, Unit number, start/stop bits,...). Is there any configuration that I have missed to make the communication works?
  2. I am now part of a startup company based on energy optimisation of HVAC in buildings. I am assigned to have research on which SCADA system to select for HVAC energy optimisation. The model is in such a way that, we need to create a SCADA / HMI for the client's building on top of existing Building Management System (BMS) to achieve energy saving.  I am still an intern and I am requested to research on various SCADA options available in the market. I have few doubts regarding: 1. How can I select one SCADA / HMI over the other?  2.GE Cimplicity and Niagara 4 are two option which I am interested in. What is the major difference between both? (Price and functionality) 3. Is Tridium Niagara 4 a SCADA software? ( I read about it but I didn't understand as I am new to this field). Is it same like tia portal which is a software that is used to program plc and create user interface??
  3. I am pretty new to the SCADA world. I wanted to know what are the advantages of using a paid proprietary SCADA software such as WinCC, Wonderware, cimplicity over free software such as OpenSCADA, OpenAPI, IndigoSCADA and so on. I have read, there are more layers of security in the paid one. What does that mean? What are the other main differences between the paid and free ones out there in the market?
  4. Dear Engineerds,   My Master (non siemens) doesn't see the Holding Registers of the Slave (S7-1200) plc. However the Q coils are fine and all Diagnostics don't show errors. The Hardware: S7-1200 – CPU 1215C CM PtP – CB1241 RS485 (6ES7 241-1CH30-1XB0) - Half Duplex RS584   Firmware: Modbus_Comm_Load (V3.1) Modbus_Slave (V4.0)   I've tried with various DB, UDTs and manipulating HR_Start_offset parameter with no success. Could you advise what am I possibly missing? Modbus_Comm_Load_DB_Snapshot.xlsx Modbus_Slave_DB_Snapshot.xlsx
  5. Distributed SE Restore

It's been quite the while since I have had to restore an SE network distributed application. I'm trying to get it restored in the distributed application manager but when it starts it fails. There's a log and it tells me "Unable to restor FactoryTalk Directory." Anybody run into this problem and have any solutions? Thanks.
  6. Good day everyone, before I start asking my question, just want to let you all know that my knowledge with PLC is not that good. I'm still learning on how to do it. So currently I'm working on a project that trying to obtain data from Omron PLC. I was told that I can't touch the Omron PLC program or modify it. That Omron PLC is connected in an isolated network within a router. Other than adding Network Card on the device, can I use another PLC (any brands) to get the data from that Omron PLC through the router? The communication protocol using here is Ethernet. Can i just tapped into the network and take the data with that way? Or the other method I'm thinking is that, the Omron PLC will feed the data to a server, can I just obtain that data from server by using OPCUA? I heard there's some PLC that have the OPCUA function, I just make my PLC into the cilent and request the data of that Omron PLC from server through Ethernet. Is this possible? Please let me know whether my method works or not, thanks in advance guys!
  7. Hmi temperature delta

I have connected 2 temperature devices with him delta with plc delta by rs485. When I run plc I can see the temperature change on pc but the problem in hmi  it's give errors. Com 2 errors  I need someone help me to connect these devices please
  8. I'm editing an old program for a customer that has a zillion user-defined data types. Scrolling through the list trying to find a specific type definition is taking way too long. Is there and easy way to find a specific data type definition? It would help if I knew how to collapse the view so I don't have to scroll through each member of every type. There doesn't seem to be any right-click menu items that would collapse the view.

  10. Yokogawa Fast Tools

Hi All; Does anybody here have a copy of Fast tools 10.02. It can like Citect be run for 1 hour in demo mode which is ideal to asses its capability. We are looking at having to use it but would like to review in demo first. Local Distributor is not providing much assistance.
  11. Hi! I would like to ask how could I send data from PC to CJ1M PLC, by SCU-41 module and RS232 cable, in order to activate an actuator (LED)? In my environment, I have a sensor that sends data from PLC to PC (I'm checking data, "HelloWrld" with Putty), with this configuration: And I have another section where I want to read the data from the PC in ordr to activate a LED I would like when I send for example a letter 'a' trough Putty, the LED activates. How could I do that? Thank you very much!

  17. Hi All, Hope you all doing well in this pandemic life.  I would need your expertise with an issue I have been struggling with for past few days and thought to reach out here. I am working on a migration project with GE PLC and Citect SCADA 7.10. The GE PLC is migrated to ControlLogix L74 Rev24.10 while Citect SCADA is retained. For testing I only have L71 and L82 and could not managed to organise L74. When the code the loaded in L71 and connected to Citect, I cannot see tags in Graphic page but I see the subscription.txt in Debug folder shows all tags good . The same code when loaded in L82, the Citect works instantly.  Does anyone know this behaviour of PLC and SCADA? Regards, DeeEngr
  18. Hello. I can't find any related bits wich would indicate PLC offline / online status. I'm using two PLC's. PLC0 Modbus TCP (Ethernet) PLC1 Modbus RTU (Serial) Please help me to get online status. BR, Andrej.
  19. Hello Guys, I am very new to CIP messaging and in our project, we are trying to Controllogix to SCADA server using CIP messaging: What I understand from the process right now is : 1. SCADA Opens a connection for Large forward Open ( Connection size set at 2500 bytes) 2. PLC responds and establishes a connection 3. SCADA send an MSP request to access tags from PLC 4. PLC responds to this request The problem we are facing is the PLC doesn't send out a response of more than 240 bytes, Have any of you guys have faced a similar issue or can help me with troubleshooting?   Thanks in advance Attached screen captures from wire
  20. PowerFlex 525 PID Feedback

Hi guys, I hope everyone is staying safe from corona virus. I have a question about powerflex 525 pid feedback. I would like to know how a powerflex get pid feed back. I set P047 [Speed Reference] as 11 and  A464 as 40. I have attached a pic of it. Right now, I am getting 0 for the feedback. Any help, i will appreciate it
  21. Hello guys, I am very new at this. I am trying to make a Schneider PLC (TM251MESE) to send some serial commands (485)  to a integrated stepper motor from Automation Direct (STR-MTRD-17030RE, but I am lost. The driver has been program to receive the SCL commands. But not quite sure how to send those from the plc. Im using SoMachine V 4.2 Have any of you done anything similar? Any example will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks
  22. Cognex Data Logging

Anyone know how I can create a log of results from a Cognex vision system?  I have 3 cameras that look at various thinks... clip presence, clip height, clip angle.  There are 2 clips per part and 6 parts per tool.  This makes it hard to zero in on what I areas I need to tweak. Thanks! P.S. I've heard that maybe their OPC Server could do this but I don't have much experience with it (actually I don't have a whole lot of vision experience at all).  From what I've briefly read, I just install the server, set up the tag within the server, start it, and I can just drag and drop the tags into an Excell cell?  If this is true, this just gives me another way to read the values.  How can I create a database or log of these tags?
  23. Hi all, I'm enhancing an Ethernet IP driver but only just learning the ropes in terms of Allen-Bradley PLCs. I'm presently focussing on that part of the driver which specifically supports SLC/500 & MicroLogix 1400, for which I have one controller of each type for testing purposes. I can already cater for a range of standard file types: integer, float, binary, input, output, string, counter, timer, control, status, and this is working well. However, by working with RSLogix500, I can see that there are other data file types which can be hosted in these controller types (dependent on model) and, indeed for test purposes, I have actually created instances of them as follows: ASCII (at A21, 20 elements) for both SLC & ML1400 Long (at L22, 10 elements) for ML1400 Message (at MG23, 8 elements) for ML1400 PID (at PD24, 4 elements) for ML1400 Programmable Limit Switch (at PLS25, 3 elements) for ML1400 Routing Info (at RI26, 3 elements) for ML1400 Extended Routing Info (at RIX27, 3 elements) for ML1400 Now, the driver obviously uses standard DF1 PCCC data types (see below) to read/write individual elements/sub-elements of the file types that I can already support -- and I can see that there's a file type listed below for ASCII. •80 to 83 hex: reserved •84 hex: status •85 hex: bit •86 hex: timer •87 hex: counter •88 hex: control •89 hex: integer •8A hex: floating point •8B hex: output logical by slot •8C hex: input logical by slot •8D hex: string •8E hex: ASCII •8F hex: BCD However, my question is this: since there are no hex file types corresponding to non-elementary data types such as L, MG, PID, PLS, RI and RIX, what file type do I specify in my DF1 PCCC packets to read/write the elements/sub-elements of these six data types ? Thanks in advance.
  24. Data entered into the PLC D memory table does not end up in the instructions and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. For instance I want to use the CP1W-DAM01 to change a duration value. I have a symbol setup using the corresponding address setup so that it ties in with my timer but the data does not transfer even thought the value shows up in the table. I'm also using it for parameters on a scale instruction, same issue. Any ideas.
  25. Greetings I have an HMI in the form of an industrial PC, is ok to use an SC09 programming cable (8 pin DIN mini to USB type) as a permanent means of communicating between the FX3U PLC and industrial PC's USB port?   I am avoiding going through the trouble of buying a DB9 connector type for the PC end due to budget limitation. My CPU also doesn't have an ethernet card, i don't want to buy one either. i have already tested the connection and it works, i just want to understand the drawbacks of communicating via USB instead of ethernet or traditional serial.
