  1. OK,  I have a program in a Control Logix 5561 controller(ver. 19.52) that every time we go online with it, the communication between the PLC and the PC running RS5000 is so slow you cannot navigate the program efficiently. I am new to this facility but I noticed the programmer used 20 different periodic tasks to organize their program, mostly running at 30ms intervals. several are set to 10ms and some are even set to 3ms. I have gone through and found out that the short interval tasks have been overlapped 10's of millions of times, and the combined total of all scan times is over 160ms. I have a strong feeling this could be causing our comms bog down and possibly other erratic behavior but would like a second opinion. This machine has 2 indexing dials, with work stations that do work between indexes, Pick and Place operations, etc.  Is there even a need to be running these with periodic tasks? All thoughts are appreciated. Thank you
  2. Hi. Is there a way to make/code an OTE to act like a retentive OTE? So it will retain its state when the PLC is power cycled? Similar to the the assignment symbol := in structured text. It seems like what I'm looking for was discussed here. However they reference to code/attachments that doesn't seem to be there anymore. http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?/topic/7252-retentive-bits/
  3. Hello, everyone. I want to ask for help..  i want to upgrade HMI hakko V7 to V9.. have file hmi in V7 use software V-SFTV5 but when I open file V7 use software V-SFTV6 its cant convert and i attached the screenshoot below..  can someone tell me what's wrong?
  4. Hello everyone! I'm the new of site. I have a PLC Mitsubishi Q03UDE and want to latch data of D register. I've set the latch data from D500 to D580 in PLC Parameter, you can see it in the picture i've attached. It seems work well when I turn on PLC everyday, but when i turn off PLC for a few days ( about two or three days ), all the data goes to 0. So can you tell me what's the problem ? My PLC have no battery. Thank you in advance for your help.
  5. Urgent help CS1 CPU Stop

Hello all, Require some urgent help on a project, apologies if poor explanation.... When CS1 CPU goes into stop mode in fault condition, eg fatal cycle time error, outputs retain in the state they were when CPU was stopped. In code we monitor CPU status and turn output high to pull in relay to indicate CPU status normal to wiring circuit. But if CPU goes into stop mode relay remains energise as code is not running to turn output off?? Therfore for examples conveyors keep running... How can we prevent this, can outputs be configured to go low if cpu stops? Any other ideas? Any help will be appreciate, thanks.
  6. integer number convert to bit

Hello, I am confused  because need convert 8 bit integer number to bit e.g. If have number in the memory M12, 125 for me need active Output Y0=1, Y1=1, Y2=1, Y3=1, Y4=1, Y5=0, Y6=1, Y7=0. Somebody could give to me advice how need to do it? I am using GX Works2 and fx3g PLC
  7. Hey guys, I am needing to view the logic of an Allen Bradley ACD file but currently do not have access to Rockwell software.. Is there any free software to convert acd to pdf to view the logic? Or is there a way someone here could convert for me? Thanks AC326IV_S013_V1_3.acd
  8. GX IEC Developer to GXWorks2

Hi all, I am a newbee with GX works2 and I got stuck in the change of developer software. Hope anyone can help me to find a easy way to solve this. I got a program in GX IEC Developer 7.04 where I have Latch(1) on all D register I am using. PARAMETER - PLC DEVICE - Data register is 0-13312 and SystemVariable are from 3000-13311. I have not find a way in GXWorks 2 to allow the same. I figure out I need to change variable type in FB to VAR_RETAIN but how do I solve this for Global variable? Do I have do give all the variable fix addresses?
  9. I'm new to the NJ series. How would you go about converting back and forth between Real data and LReal?
  10. Convert int to float

I'm trying to read a result from encoder (which in pulse) and convert it to milimeter. To do that, i need to devide it. But here is the problem when i move the result of the encoder read to register (D) then devide it with another register, it doesn't show result in the monitor. It looks like i need to convert it to float first, but i dont know how. My command for the division is DEDIV D17 D40 D22. is there anyway to solve it? Thanks, i really need this. I try to look in the forum but i dont found it. I'm using mitsubishi FX3U-48 MT ESS. I'm new in this forum, if i break a rule, please tell me.
  11. CONVERT FROM CQM1H TO CJ2M

Hi there, I would like to ask you regarding the conversion PLC. Usually, it is not a surprise for us to get the errors occurring for the PLC conversion especially if both PLCs are not in the same compatible programming software. What I mean, currently, we have a lot of older version of PLC such as C20, C40H, C60H etc and these version needed to be converted to the newer version. However, lately we have problem converting the CQM1H to CJ2M, whereas both PLCs using the same programming software, CX-ONE software (ver 9.6). Most of the errors are displayed like this: ERROR: Step at rung 161 (6, 1) - SBN not defined - 4 There are 4 errors are listed referring to the same type of errors, that is the SBN not defined.  Is there anyone here ever experienced this? And why is it these two PLCs also got problem for converting? Thanks all.
  12. Invert scale 0-990 --> 990-0

Hello.  I have a D word number 0-990. I would like to convert it to 990-0. So i need a function which shows me 0, when the D100 is 990, and shows me 0 when the D100=990. And of course for the between values also. Calculating continiusly. Help is much appreciated :)
  13. Hi, I'm a long time lurker and would like to start by saying thanks for all the help over the years, much appreciated!  This is my first post, please be gentle. I'm working through a large project with an L83 (V28) including 75 EIP nodes & 5 servos.  We have a need for quick real-time response of 2 cameras during a quick servo move (taking several pictures).  I've broken my program up into a few event driven tasks (allowing me to chose the execution time interval (5 to 8 ms for more important tasks and 20 ms for less important tasks, etc.)), along with these I have 2 periodic tasks: 1 for my HMIs & faults running every 30ms and 1 for this quick real-time response camera situation running at .5ms which contains my camera and servo logic.  Everything is running well and seems responsive and repeatable enough, but I am now adding the second half of the logic which will essentially double everything (2 up system).  This has made me consider the best structure approach: Is it better to have a few larger routines within a few larger tasks or better to have more smaller tasks containing an abundance of smaller routines or some other different mix? Thanks, JD43
  14. Hai i want to know how to save and retain the values of the program even in Emergency power off the PLC and on again? can any one help me?
  15. OK so this is driving me nuts, because I had this whole program just about finished and working fine, until I deleted it  Now I don't remember how I did it, if could just get past step 2 in the attached "Scope" I'd be fine and could do the rest myself, I'm kindof a beginner to ladder logic and I'm using RSLogix 5000     SCOPE.docx
  16. Program 16 position rotary selector switch

I have a 16 position rotary selector switch I'm trying to program to a CQM1 PLC, that I will also be programming to a micrologix 1200 in the future, using CX Programmer. The switch connects to the PLC using 4 inputs, and activates the inputs in a binary pattern 0-16 as I turn the switch. For example: if the switch is wired to the first four inputs of the PLC, and is turned to "9" 0.0 and 0.3 will be activated and 0.1 and 0.2 will not, just like binary 9 = 1001. I have tried several things trying to get the PLC to accept these inputs as a single "data-point," and then convert to BCD or Hex to use in a timer. I'm having no luck! Does anyone have any ideas how this is done? The switch is a Tosoku DPP01 015L20RCB, and because of the age of the PLC my instruction set is limited. Thank you in advance!
  17. Hey all, I've reviewed a number of threads regarding converting one data type to another and I have something I'm working on that I'm stumped on and haven't found an answer for yet. Without getting into the details, I need to get a DINT bit value from an entered decimal value. A user will enter in a whole number in an entry box and then it needs to get converted to the number of whatever bits that the DINT number holds. For instance: # Entered Variable Bit Value -----0------------------0 -----1------------------1 -----2------------------3 -----3------------------7 -----4-----------------15 etc... I'm looking for a fairly clean way to do this, with perhaps just two or three instruction blocks to handle it, if possible. I can provide a screenshot of the HMI and the logic (4 rungs) if necessary. Any suggestions or advice from the group would be greatly appreciated!
  18. Non-volatile memory GX Works2

Hi all, Im trying to figure out how to create non-volatile memory tags in GX Works 2 (using a FX3U controller), so that the values stored in the D registers won't keep zeroing out every time the controller powers down. Does anyone have any helpful tips on how this is done? Thanks
  19. Hi Gentlemen, I ran into a Sixnet RTU job recently. I noticed that there's no 1st scan bit! Don't know how to get the run status or the 1st scan bit. Maybe I am not looking in the right place. Is there a way around this? Maybe this is a stupid question but shall appreciate any help. Thanks for looking in.
  20. My project is converting a Quatum Modicon to a Control Logix. We took the Modicon Logic ran it thru a Rockwell converter and created the Control Logix Logic. This was nothing complicated but a large file. In Modicon you have a Memory retentive bit -- (M). This converted to a Latch (OTL) in the Control Logix, we decided to place a coil OTE in Parallel with the Latch so we could unlatch on the rung going false. The memory retentive coil is there to hold memory on power cycle if it ever happened. So.... The question is Unlatch below The latch, or above Consider left a representive of converted logic in the AB. Logic a bit more complicated. A B C lL. U --||--|||--|/|--(OTL)--(OTE). L |. . --||-----|. U. L ----||--------------------(OTU)
