Looking for some advice: We have some automation systems which have some Siemens devices communicating with Allen Bradley Compact Logix using Prosoft PLX32-EIP-PND communication gateways. From a hardware perspective, we have a single AB compact logix plc, connected to 4 separate and identical systems which each has a siemens CPU 1510SP F-1 PN connected to the AB via the PLX32-EIP-PND. All 4 gateways and Siemens systems are exactly the same, aside from the IP address in the PLX32-EIP-PND that points to the AB plc. All systems were integrated at the same time. We have had issues with one of the systems losing communication between the Siemens and AB. My team has been fighting this issue now for months with neither our automation team nor the 3rd party equipment provider being able to figure out the cause. I just started a few weeks ago, so I was just recently brought up to speed on this. Previously, it sounds like nobody had ever connected to the systems when the fault was occurring (we didnt have the internal resources available to do so) . My first thought was the Prosoft, as I have seen a number of protocol converters fail over the years. I helped my guys configure a new PLX32-EIP-PND and set the device name the other day, at which time we installed it. Fast forward to yesterday, and we see we are still intermittently losing communication between the AB and one of the Siemens systems (still the same one we replaced the PLX32-EIP-PND in). Yesterday, it had faulted and didn't come back online. I was able to finally get connected with the Siemens system while in this state. I could see active data on the ethernet port on the PLX32-EIP-PND that connects to the AB PLC, but there appeared to be no data between the PLX32-EIP-PND and the Siemens PLC. When I got online (in TIA Portal) I could see the PLX32-EIP-PND was showing as offline. I tried pinging it to no avail. All network connections looked good. All other network devices were still online. These connections do go through a small switch as well. Immediately after I unplugged network cable of the PLX32-EIP-PND and plugged it back in, the connection came back. For now, to rule out the network switch, I have swapped it between 2 of the Siemens systems (we will monitor to see if the fault follows the switch). In summary, we have replaced the PLX32-EIP-PND, and all thats between that and the Siemens plc is a small network switch. Looking back in history and it sounds like they have also tried a different ethernet cable as well, so I think that can be ruled out as the cause. Any ideas from anyone what could cause a loss of communication to only 1 device?

Ok I'll try a different angle of attack. I have acquired an S7-1212c unit. It is just too new for my TIA portal, which is V 15.1 The new PLC I have has firmwear 4.5 the TIA portal I have only supports 4.3, I get some errors regarding synconization etc. and it's like there are some tins that don't work. how do I update the TIA portal to the correct firmware I've tried updating the HSP files but it doesn't change anything https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/54163658/how-do-you-update-the-hardware-catalog-in-tia-portal-?dti=0&lc=en-DE

Hello all I would like to know what kind of equipment you use as PLC programmers or as technologists of automation and processes. What do you recommend for using programs such as TIA and other Siemens software, Studio 5000, IQ works and other automation programs. Please give your opinions on what you use and what you would use. greetings to all and all the best Klemen -

Good Day All, I'm working on an alarm system program that an integrator did several years ago. The PLC is a S7-1200, and I'm using TIA Portal 15.1. The program uses BACnet to comm with a Trane chiller system. I need to make an input change (change input from one remote rack to another one) in another unrelated portion of the program. When I connect to the system, it come up with a pop up saying I'm missing the BACnet module and programming may be limited. Will it cause an issue if I make my input change and download software to the PLC, even thought I don't have the BACnet module for Portal?

Hi there! I have S7-1200 controller connected to a Comfort Panel. The machine has some pressure and temp sensors, as long as many valves and other stuff. I generate a daily datalog with some of those variables but, the thing is, I've been trying to figure out how to show these data in the HMI without using a trend viewer. I don't know if it's possible, but I want to be able to see what valves were open (for example) the day DD/MM/YYYY at HH:MM:SS, using the generated data log, kind of knowing the state of single bits at different past moments. I've been searching the web but I didn't find something exactly like this, don't know if I'm doing it properly so I'd like to know if you have done this or you can throw some light on the topic. Thanks in advance and hope you can help me!

Hello guys. We are trying to replace a S7 200 PLC at our station with S7 1200. We are reading the program on the S7 200 and recreating the same on the S7 1200. However, we have encountered the SEG instruction used several times in the S7 200 (microwin) program. And the SEG instruction is not available in TIA Portal (we are using TIA 11) for the S7 1200. We have tried to read the s7 200 system manual but the explanation of the instruction is not sufficient to help recreate it. Could anyone know how we can create our own equivalent of the SEG instruction? If anyone has the SEG instruction already created as a program, it would be very helpful. Thank you.

It's necessary to send data from L06CPU to S7-1500, but I don't know anything about mitsubishi and gx works2. Picked up some pics how I did it, but I didn't verified how it works. Can anybody help me with this? https://ibb.co/8KDmg5x https://ibb.co/Jm8shCx edited: I also found LQnUDEModbusTCP_GW2_with_FC_V120 library, but how it works I dont know

Hi I'm looking for a little bit of help. I have a WinCC HMI which will not let me log on with one of the passwords. The general logon and admin both work fine. The Engineer password doesn't work (no display at the top of the screen where the other user names are displayed). There is no warning that the password is in correct or the account locked out (missed in the original programing I think). I have all the project files however I'm using a runtime licence. I would like to log in as admin open the project and clear the password lockout. The issue I have is that I have to use TIA portal and it will not show the project file, is this due to the fact that I have a runtime licence. Is there another way to see if the user name is locked and removed. Like I said I have the admin password which works. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Kind Regards

Plc programming experience needed
Jonasmartinez posted a topic in For Sale, Employment, Services or Wanted
Hi all. I would like to get in contact with whoever can help me in my particular problem. I hold an HNC level in robot and plc programming but for different reasons I'm still trying to get on the industry but is being a hard task. It's been a while that I'm trying to get into some companies by agencies and they are always asking for something that I can't provide like two years experience. Basically I'm writing here trying to find someone that can help me in anyway. Currently I live in Shrewsbury and it will be complicated to get relocated but nothing is impossible if things are interesting for both sides. Thanks to all even for read it and just consider the possibility to help me on any way. -

Hello I am having some difficulty writing code for a specific function using Tia portal and a S7-1200. I 10 Digital inputs and 1 analogue output set for 0-10V. When 1 DI is high I need the AQ to be at 1V, when any 2 DIs are high I need the AQ to be at 2, When any 3 DIs are high I need the AQ to be at 3V and so on.... I just can't work out the best way to do achieve this. For a bit more info the to what the project entails the digital inputs are all coming back from DOL starters for woodworking equipment at workstations. When one of these starters is turned on a signal is sent back to the PLC DI card, this open a solenoid in extraction pipework and also increases the frequency at a VSD to extract the dust. So when more workstations are in use the higher the frequency of the VSD will be and the faster the motor will run allowing adequate extraction at all stations
