  1. Looking for some servo application help. Software: I have GX works 2, GT Designer, and GX Developer.  Hardware: PLC L06CPU-P, GOT2000 HMI, MR-J4-350B servo amps, HG-JR35JK motors, LD77MS2 Pulser I have (2) AC servos that will simply move an aluminum frame backwards and forwards using a FESTO belt mover and I have a servo gear reducer 20:1. I have a "simple motion module"and all of this hardware and software, plenty of time, and would really like to finish this project off. But this is my first servo and my first hmi project. I have some experience with Omron, Mitsubishi, and Allen-Bradley plc's, and consider myself novice at best. Any sample programs or help getting me started would be greatly appreciated!
  2. I've been building a contraption with linear rails and stepper motors. It has an X, Y, and Z axis. I'm using Velocio PLCs to control the motors which seems to be work well so far. I understand these are not very common and my question are related to general motion control, not Velocio programming specifically. Since I'm new to PLCs, programming, and stepper motion I thought I'd ask for some input instead of trying to reinvent the wheel. I'm to the point in the build where I'll be adding emergency stop/limit switches and am wondering how to go about writing the program; if there's an "industry standard" way to go about it. I figure the PLC will check to see if any switch is active. If one is, drive the motor away from it till it's inactive and store the location. If one is not, drive the motor until a switch activates then back off a until it's inactive and store the location. Drive the motor to the other limit of the axis (the number of steps should be known) to activate the switch, back off and store location. Rinse and repeat for the other axes. Is my approach about right?
  3. We've purchased an Autoclave at auction with CompactLogix L32e and PanelView Plus 1000.  With the help of some forum members and a local engineering company we have the machine finally working! I'm looking for some advise as to how to train users for standerd operation.  For example:  Their is a toggle switch on the front which powers on everything (PanelView, processer, switch, etc).  We close at 5pm each night.. Should we Power down the machine each night, or leave it on? Another user mentioned a battery and I was a bit confused with the manual. With the machine off, Is the PLC only holding the program because of the battery?? I have backups of the following.. (.acd, .apa, .mer) files.  I also have created a Disc Image of the Internal Flash card on the PanelView.  Is their anything else I should have a backup of? Their is a CF card in the PLC.  It has a folder called "Logix" and one called "System Volume Information"  In the Logix folder is  a CurrentApp folder with a .bin and .p5k file.  Does anyone know what exactly these are doing?? Any other advise is greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much for your time.
  4. I'm looking for some general information about different types of vibration/temperature sensors. What type, brand, model number, etc. will best fit my application.  Scenario: I want to monitor the vibration and temperature of multiple motors and gearboxes for a large overhead conveyor system. If an oil leak occurs and temperature increases, I want to see a temp. alert via a HMI. If a something mechanical fails, I want to see a vibration alert via a HMI.  I've looked into sensors that stick to the outside housing of the motors or gearboxes via a magnet. My concern is justifying the temperature readings. How accurate would a sensor that reads an "ambient" temperature be (compared to a thermocouple on the motor coil itself or some sort of probe)? Also, would the location of the magnet  on the motor or gearbox drastically affect the temp. or vib. readings? Has anyone had success with a similar setup? If so, what devices did you utilize? Are these systems truly beneficial?  I'm currently considering Banner's wireless products...
  5. Good morning i want to know how i can recognize into the compactlogix 1769-L24 ER the micro 850 (2080-LC50-24QBB), because i want to communicate this two devices with MSG, i already i can see these two equipments into RSlinx but when i start Studio 5000 i don't know whick module i have to use it to recognize the micro 850, please help me
  6. Hi Everybody, I would like to get the Connections from an AB CompactLogix L32 with CIP. I can see these connections on the web interface. According to the CIP Vol1 v3.3 documentation I have created a reqest in java which requests the first instace of the  Connection Manager Object with Get_Connection_Data service. I captured the sent and the received packets with wireshark. I would like to ask the following: 1.) Is this the correct way to request the connections from the PLC with CIP? 2.) The response says that "Service not supported", is it possible that the PLC does not support this service or there is problem with the request? 3.) Is there any other way to get the connections (I/O and Message) from the PLC with a CIP reqest? Thanks for the answers in advance.
  7. I am searching for the Replacement of the Ultra 5000 Servo Drive as i cant get online to it with the Ultraware software over wireless plant network. In order to get online i have to connect serial cable every time. And the Drives are used in time critical assembly line  kind of environment. So is there any other replacement which works as intelligent as of Ultra 5000 and also have additional feature of built in Ethernet port which can help me to get online with it wireless over plant network.
  8. Hello guys, Newbie on this site. I am looking for a run time free Allen Bradley .NET driver. Basically a library (.dll) that implements communication protocols to Allen Bradley PLC's ( CIP, Ethernet/IP, etc.). Can someone point me in the right direction please ?.
  9. Omnuc U software

Hi, I have begun to look into some positioning equipment we have had for a while. There is a CQM1 CPU51 connected to R88D-U series servo drives, and a CS1 with C200HW-NC113 and a R88D-U. I have found WinMon on myomron, but not tried to install it yet, will it run at all on a Win7 machine or do I have to dig out some older PC? Same with the NC unit, there is mentioned a SYSMAC-NCT program in the manual, but I have not been able to find this anywhere, Is this still a commercial item? Are there any newer software that will communicate with these old units? If we decide to upgrade any of this, will we have to replace all, or is it possible to reuse the servomotors or other parts? This is all for educational purposes, no production or safety issues involved. I would of course like my students to work with the most updated systems, but unfortunately we are on a limited budget :( Geir

  13. HI  , I would like to ask you for your opinion    THIS IS MY PROBLEM WITH THE kinetix 6500  The equipment was working fine , but now i cant make to servo move with the program, cant run the test or autotuning    Status in front of servo drives say running. Everything is green, no errors,     when I activate the MSO  I can hear a click  at servodrive, but the servo is not energized, because i dont hear the usual noise when the servo is energized, I have check the cables and conectors, everythig is fines, I check the servo resistence , no shortcuts or open lines, The wierd part is when the servos are in the running state i can move by hand, they are supossed to be locked.     after that I activate the home MAH, or test or autotuning , or a direct command ,and then it  fails  When i try to jog . move, test or  autotuning  the servo it says s55 velocity error or excess positon error, i can not get servo to move at all I can see the position from the encoder back to the plc. I have turned the servo and i see the position at actualposition     Before the equipment was working , moving , I just swith it off one day, and the next day I couldnt make it move   Best regards    I have added the programm as an attachment k6500.ACD
  14. Hello All, I'm in the process of tuning a motor and I understand almost everything that is happening.  The only thing that doesn't really make sense is how frequency relates to the speed of the motor.  For instance, let's say my 3db point is at 100 Hz.  I understand that from 0 to 100 Hz my motor is stable.  If I have a 3000 RPM motor, how does 0 to 100 Hz relate to the maximum speed I can run the motor and still have precise positioning. Thank you
  15. GOT1000&CompactLogix Tags

Hello Im new using HMI got1000, Im trying to connect using Ethernet this HMI to a compactlogix, i already imported the tags, but i can't use any of them, because the gtworks3 says "you have to map the tags for set a device", i dont know what means map the tags, some one can help me please?
  16. I have a compactLogix L24.  It is connected to a network switch.  I also have an ethernet servo driver (KM AKD) attached to the same switch. The CL L24 IP address is The Servo Driver is In RSLogix 5000, I added an ethernet module.  I put in the IP address for the servo driver.  When I go online, I just get a connection error (Code16#0204).   I can talk to the servo driver using my PC on the same network (, but the CompactLogix won't talk to it.  Do I need to install an external ethernet module to make this work, or can I use the existing ethernet ports on the L24? I'm stumped.
  17. Hey guys, this is probably a stupid question so I apologize if it is, but I have a PanelView Plus 6 700 and a CompactLogix L36ERM on one of my machines at my plant.  We have several different molds that run in this machine, so we have 5-7 different PLC programs that can possibly run in this processor, depending on which mold is in.  I'm planning to go to a single program with recipes, but I haven't had the time to set that up yet.  So we use the PanelView for troubleshooting, and adjusting process paramters.  On the main screen in the PanelView I have the time/date and also the program name.  What I have been doing is just creating a string tag in RSLogix 5000 that is the program/processor name (we use the same name for the processor and program) and then on my PanelView I just create a string display that looks at the string tag name in the processor.  That way anytime a mold is changed over and the PLC program is downloaded, the PanelView displays the correct program/processor name.   Now this is all fine and dandy and works as long as if a new program is created, we remember to change the string tag to the name of the new program, we often run new sample parts and what we do is rename an existing program that has similar logic and save it as a new program name.  The problem comes up because if somebody copies an existing program and makes a new one, the string tag is still going to say the name of the old PLC program.  Now if we only had one or two or even 5 machines, it would be simple enough to just remember to change that string tag.  Our, or I should say MY problem is that we have approximately 40ish machines in our plant, and I can't always remember to change that string tag every time we create a new program.  I should say that I have been, but there are times that I may forget. My question is this, is there any way that in FactoryTalk View ME Studio to have a string display the name of the processor or the name of the PLC program automatically without having to manually enter the name into the string tag that I created in RSLogix 5000?  Like is there a system tag somewhere that has the name of the processor or the name of the program?   That was way more explaining then probably necessary.  It's early and I've had way too much coffee haha.   Thanks guys.

  21. 1769-ASCII Setup Help

All, I have a 1769-L24ER-QBFC1B processor with a 1769-ASCII card that I am trying to get working on the bench. I have a standard serial cable hooked up from Channel 0 of the ASCII card to the COM1 port of my computer. All I'm trying to do at this point is a simple bare-bones hello world program with a terminal (termite or putty) so that I can verify my setup and understand how it works before I try to implement it on the plant floor. I have the card set up in alternating mode and am using the pre-canned program found starting on page 35 of the user manual(1769-um012) .This is my first time using the ASCII card I am familiar with the CompactLogix processors and the RSLogix Suite. Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lucas

  23. Kinetix 6000 MAPC issues

Hi guys, been using this site for a long time, it has come in handy alot. However I have recently taken on my first servo project, heres an overview of the project We have a filling machine that has a separate dosing system to the filler head. It used to keep the dosing in time by adjusting a 0-10v signal to an inverter to make sure that a flag makes a sensor in a set window. I have installed an encoder on the filling head and an mpl servo to the dosing. I have then used an MAPC instruction to follow the encoder, the cam is 0-360 and it follows a straight linear line. I have installed of this as a temporary set up on one of the filling machines (we have 2) and it is working perfectly. I have now installed this on the second machine as a permanent set up with a panelview plus 7, L71 cpu. However it is giving a very strange problem on first power up, the encoder is giving the exact same position as before it was powered down. however as soon as the MAPC executes the servo axis  faults, giving an overspeed fault. the servo doesnt even look like its attempting to move (however it is through a 10-1 gearbox). if i then home the encoder it then runs absolutely perfectly until it is powered down again. I am beginning to think it may be to do with the master lock and cam lock position, as the cycle stop position of the two machines are different. however I just cant seem to get my head around i the difference between them.   Hopefully that makes sense any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Rhys   c1_dosing.ACD
