Hi All need to convert a Decimal Value into Ascii code to send out on serial 485. eg. Weight comes in as Int 12345 i need to send it out in Ascii as 23 32 20 31 32 33 34 35. I have created an array 0 of 8 (Word) DB. Is there an easy way split the int into Digits convet in into HEX and slot the value into the various array positions? Array 0 of 8 = 23 means # Array 1 of 8 = 32 means 2 (Station ID) Array 2 of 8 = 20 means Space Array 3 of 8 = 31 means 1 Array 4 of 8 = 32 means 2 Array 5 of 8 = 33 means 3 Array 6 of 8 = 34 means 4 Array 7 of 8 = 35 means 5 Array 8 of 8 = D means CR this sends the value of 12345 to Display ID 2 . need help to convert the decimal number in ascii. the decimal number will be max of 5 digits and less than 32000 any help will be greatly appreciated.

FactoryTalk VIew SE HMI Server issue
JacoRoselt posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Good day, We are running FactoryTalk View SE (Network Distributed) version 7.00 (CPR 9 SR 6). We have 5 machines: Engineering Station, HMI/Data Server A, HMI/Data Server B, Operator station A and B. The FT Directory is located on Server A. Server A is Primary and Server B secondary. I made some changes to one of the HMI Display's and added a HMI Tag with an alarm. Tested the changes, everything worked as predicted. I then checked the status of the RSLinx, HMI and Data servers using FT Administration Console, everything was running with full redundancy. I then selected Replicate to Secondary, the replication was successful and Server B rebooted. After Server B finished rebooting, I check the status again. I found that the RSLinx and Data servers started up and was again fully redundant but the HMI Server showed that Server A was active and Server B was Ready to provide service, left it for about 10 minutes but it never changed to Standby. I rebooted Server B again to see if it will help but it did not. I then stopped the services on Server B, deleted the HMI Project, restored the project from a backup of Server A, but still had the same issue. I am suspecting that there might be an issue on server A because if I open FT View Studio on the engineering station, I get an error stating: Unable to open HMI Server. I have checked all network connections and everything looks fine. Is there someone that may be able to assist me?- 2 replies

Behavior of variables read by Prosoft MVI56-MNETR in case of network failure
marcelosb posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hello! I have one Controlllogix project that communicates with a modbus slave through modbus TCP, using a Prosoft module model MVI56-MNETR. Does anyone know what happens to the data polled in case the network fails? Do all variables go to zero or do they freeze in their last value (or something else entirely)? I couldn't find anything in the Prosoft manual. Thanks for any help! -
So I'm having trouble writing a FBD within my current program for a slitting line. I need to keep a constant tension on my web as it is being recoiled onto our recoiler. I wrote a simple program using a sensor to read the growing rate of the coil to get a radius and I have feedback on my torque on the recoiler motor. The simplest math for this application without getting into anything too fancy should be Tension(lbs)= Torque(ftlbs)/coil radius. only problem is when its less than a foot then my calculation is thrown off and it actually shows tension goes up until it reaches the one foot mark then it seems to scale correctly. Do I need to scale something else? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Weintek HMI Modbus Communication With Siemens Energy Meter PAC3200
Junaid Abbas posted a topic in HMI & SCADA
i am trying to communication my weintek HMI with Siemens Energy Meter PAC3200. I am using MODBUS TCP/IP Protocol but i am unable to read the data register of my energy meter. Somehow i got to read the 32bit data register but still unable to read the 64bit data register of my total KWHr Energy consumption. I have also attached the manual of my energy meter. Please guide how to read all the data registers of that energy meter. Please see the page 40 onwards for reference. The manual the about 7MB so i cannot attach the file. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/attachments/26504150/A5E01168664B-04_EN-US_122016_201612221316360495.pdf -

Hi, got a mental block lol. Got a machine we are modifying, currently got most of the code in place. Working on a fault routine now. This machine doesn't have an HMI or wide array of PL. Nothing major just a simple vision system check. Currently have 6 faults that will stop the cycle running. I'm wanting to have the beacon light (Red light) blink for the cause of the fault. For example: Scenario 1- Fault stop for bottle check NG: (two) .5 sec blinks - 2 sec red light off - (two) .5 sec blinks ..... repeat Scenario 2- Fault stop for bottle check NG and reject sensor blocked: (two) .5 sec blinks -2 sec red light off - (three) .5 sec blinks - 2 sec red light off....... repeat I have the code a few different ways but it looks "dirty". Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

A little background information here, I am trying to create a moving average so I accomplished it with the code (imaged attached) The problem i am having is the AVE instruction error bit goes true. it leaved me with a result of 1.#QAN I did some googling and it said this is typically done when dividing by zero?? so i added a NEQ to 0 prior to loading the array. then it happened again. so i put the error bit in front of the FFL so it will stop loading the array when i get the error bit so i can see what values are in the array when it errors out. Has anyone else had this issue and what could you do to resolve it? I haven't had any luck find something that points me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi everyone! I have a question to all of you guys - do you ever use any software or online tools to manage your automation/electrical engineering projects? I have worked in a number of companies and have seen various scenarios, from using excel tables to run multi-million dollar projects to using proprietary SW for every little tiny project. Unfortunately I do not have experience working for any major big integrator and am very curious how projects are managed at this level (and if every engineer likes the way it is handled). Additional question - does anyone have ever used a software to automatically generate the PLC code? I know some companies develop products to generate the "skeleton" of PLC program and I think it is a great thing to have.

Studion 5000 & Kinetix 5700 - Safely limited speed
MartinK posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hello there, I am using a Kinetix 5700 drives to control bunch of axis. HW used : 5069-L320ERMS2 GurdsLogix, 2198-S086-ERS4 Servo Drive with MPM-B2152M-M motor and the 843ES-SIP12BA6 safety encoder. All is working fine except I can't figure out how to dynamically change an axis velocity controlled by a MAG instruction. I have a virtual master axis controlling the velocity and each physical axis is controlled by a MAG instruction with a gear ratio. In my safety program I have SFX and SLS function block used to determine the safe speed limit. The SLSLimit output of the SLS function block is linked to a SS1 Request of my servo drive. This causes the axis to stop when safe speed limit acceded. What I'd like to be able to do is to dynamically change velocity (limit it to safe speed if SLS instruction is active) of each axis without having to change the gearing ratios and thus avoid the SS1 safe stop action. I know how to do that using JOG or MOVE but is it even possible to do that using the MAG instruction? Regards Martin- 2 replies

Hi I have a MSG instruction which checks the status of the DLR network which I have attached as an Image below Message Type - CIP Generic Class 47 ,Attribute 0,Instance 1,The destination element is a SINT[57] called Services_DLR My question is, how do I interpret the results. For example Services_DLR[1] is the network status, but I have seen a value of 0 when the ring is okay but I have also seen values of 1 and 4 and don't know what they mean. I assume 1 means ring fault but I do not know what 4 means etc. or The last active IP goes to Services_DLR[17] but I would not of known this, only the code was wrote by someone else. (Image attached) On page 189 of https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/20comm-um015_-en-p.pdf I can see the DLR object but I dont know how this populates my SINT array or what each element is for so if someone could explain or point me to some documentation that can explain it to me, i would greatly appreciate it Hope I made myself clear, I am new to PLC programming so just looking for some guidance

Hi everyone, first time posting here. I've got a problem with the Modbus MTCP-CP1L-Server fonction block. it worked fine for a good amount of time until i try to change an ethernet switch (not managed) on my network. at this moment the fonction block started to give me an error code (2211 ''unit is busy, can't execute''). So i put the old switch back again and I called Omron and they tell me to download Etherway and try to send some data to it but they can't do more. I did and BAM, it worked again. everything was fine for about a week and i was like, okay if etherway can ''solve my problem with the fonction block, i can put the new switch again, No I can't. It give me the same error, I try'd so many thing( put the old switch, everything that was possible in Etherway, change IP address, ethernet setting, reboot everything, connecting the unit direct to my PC. nothing can erase that error. Unit is an CP1L-EM with built-in Ethernet port did someone had have the same problem, or have any idea that can help me ? thank. Sorry for my poor English, its not my first language.

I have been able to Jog the opposite direction from a Hardware OT with my 1S servos (using Sysmac Studio). I reset the OT Fault and Job the opposite direction. What I am having trouble with now is, I have set Software Limits and I cannot Jog off like I can with the Hardware OT. I have been told I should be able to do that, but it still does not work. The fault returns immediately when I press the appropriate HMI Job button....which is the same HMI buttons and Logic used when I have the Hardware OT. Has anyone ran into this before? It may be a setting I have not done right maybe?? Thanks,
