  1. 90 30 CPU350 serial connection

ok running into a issue here, so we were able to communicate with the processor to download a program. transfer went fine. upon cycling power, we can no longer connect to processor. we used LM90 for the software. i've tried removing the battery and shorting out the "mem clear" points on the board, however we can no longer communicate with the CPU. we have a POWER and OK light solid on the power supply. kinda stumped here if anyone has any insight.

  3. Hey, I recently started trying my hand at creating function blocks. At the moment I'm trying to create a PID function block, however I keep getting this error: "ERROR: Variable does not have enough size." No idea why it does this. Can anyone help?
  4. Hello, Completely new to Mitsubishi PLCs and I need to use a date and time stamp for data collection purposes. We have a Siemens PLC as well and this has the data type "Date_And_Time" which is what I need to replicate. I have been attempting to write my own data type but am struggling with how to go about this as it is not straightforward and I cannot find anything about how the Siemens Date_And_Time is made up so I have nothing to go off. Does anyone have an example of a data type they have made that is the same? Or is there a data type which does this already in GX Works 2 that I just can't seem to find?  Please help!
  5. Hi Everyone, I would like to know  if two S7-300 CPU can exchange data via MPI protocol using X_Put and X_Get blocks. is it possible to test the data exchange via PLCSIM to verify. CPU1 = 313C-2DP CPU2 = 312 Please advise. Thank you.
  6. Hello! I am beginner in PLC world, also in SIEMENS PLCs. I managed communication over private network. Now I have a problem that I get same values on all inputs. Picture below shows my configuration of driver and data monitor. First picture shows values when input I0.0 is in state 0. Second picture shows values when input I0.0 is in state 1. Physically on PLC only input I0.0 is forced to 1, input I0.1 stays 0. But data monitor shows both inputs as state 1. Where is problem? Is problem in PLC program, TIA portal? I saw some guys using DataBlocks but I am not skilled enough to use it. Third picture shows simple PLC program on my PLC. Please help. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hello! I have a project where I need to use Allen Bradley PLC, it might be one of CompactLogic series. In scope of the project I need to transfer few real values to DirectLogic PLC that installed on customer side. DirectLogic PLC has installed ethernet card that support Modbus TCP, TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocols as it says on automationdirect website. I start looking for Allen Bradley PLC that support Modbus TCP or TCP/UDP protocol and did find clear information. 8. Is it possible to use FX3U-485ADP-MB as a serial port to send and receive user defined string/data to and from a computer? I have a FX3U-32M PLC and two FX3U-485ADP-MB adapters. I have been using PLC with one adapter as Modbus Master. Now i want to use both adapters, where one will be Modbus Master as usual and the other I want to use to send and receive data to and from computer terminal (Example - Realterm). I have a third party 232/485 converter which works really well. Lets me just describe my requirement straight forward. I want to display process parameters on a windows computer based user interface (UI) and also set some variables in PLC from the same UI. The UI has access to serial ports of computer.

  11. Internal function block variables

I have a function block where the first internal variable is showing as address H1420 in the Global Symbol table. When I add another retained variable to the function block then save and compile the code, the variable address in the global symbol table shifts from H1420 to H1488.  I need to retain the address as I will be downloading code and I need to ensure the address if H1420 stays with that variable.    Can anyone help with this?

  13. To Whoever might read this: I am currently a journeymen electrician in CA with 12 years experience in the installation, Maintenance and design of commercial electrical systems. I have limited Industrial experience, but I know enough to get myself around without blowing myself up or the customer and their infrastructure. Recently, I have taken a few online courses on PLC programming using RSLogix Micro Lite. I realize this is very entry level stuff, but I thoroughly enjoy the process of forming ladder logic and problem solving and I believe my experience in electrical theory and installation has helped me understand the natural flow of this logic. My interest in this field goes back 10 years or so and I am just now getting around to learning the languages and logic behind the PLC's that I have built entire electrical infrastructures around. With that said, as a full time service electrician who just landed a job in the wastewater electrician/mechanic field, I am seeking opportunities to learn and grow in some form of internship or unpaid position as long as the workload is either remotely operable, or somewhere based out of the greater Sacramento, CA area.   I do not want to sound picky, but I am a young father with a full time career, newly married and a busy full time job schedule to keep up with. SO, I am definitely interested in any opportunity that will give me experience to add to my abilities as a programmer for future ventures. Thank you for your consideration!   MtHowe15 P.S. I am also TOTALLY up for any hints and tips as to what a good next step would be towards gaining experience!
  14. I have a level measurement system by fmcw radar (Rosemount tankradar), for a filling-emptying process, of very large water chambers. Very sporadically, the radar is momentarily lost and measures 4 to 7 feet below the actual level, only when filling the water chamber.  Sometimes the measurement freeze in the middle of the filling process.  Due to the criticality of the process, this behavior is dangerous, as it can cause flooding inside the plant This behavior is very sporadically so we are baffled about the root cause of this problem.
  15. Lets say I worked in a factory that made multiple models of parts. I need to run data tracing on the off shift due to certain models only running on 2nd and 3rd shift. I want one data trace to capture one group of bits at Model 1, Then reset the Data Points and run again for Model 2, Model 3 and so on. So the Bits that I am mapping with the trace need to change.  I can change the trigger easy enough with my program. I see in the manual the CPU has a "separate memory area" for trace settings. Can this area be accessed from the Program so I can set my bit addresses to monitor to a word or E_?   See attached pic for clarification of what I aim to change through the program.
  16. Omron Function Block variables

Hello all.  I posted earlier in the week regarding downloading new code to an Omron PLC, but I think the question was a bit vague. As a follow up, and hopefully to clarify, I have the following query. I have created an upgraded program which will be downloaded by field techs using memory cassettes. The revised area of code is essentially a Function Block which amends service lamp behaviour, and in creating it, I have amended the existing function block and added new Internal variables. Is there any way I can ensure that the new variables don''t over write or move the existing  variables in the PLC, because this is what is happening when I download it.    HELP!!!!!!!!!
  17. hello.   I've been trying to communicate this omron plc CP1L-EM30DT1-D, with a yaskawa inverter cimr-vu4a0004faa. but i can't figure out how to make de correct mov or configuration in de DM. i need to run/stop, change frequency.    some help, please. :) 485PRUEBA.cxp 485PRUEBA.opt

  19. Modbus Addressing in Weintek HMI

Modbus addressing in Weintek HMI to poll data from Temperature sensor through RS485. In my system i have connected Temperature sensor to I/O Scanner has output in terms of RS-485 which directly connected to COM3 Port pin. No. 6 (as Negative) & 9 (as Positive) of HMI (Model No: MT8071iE) and HMI connected to PC via ETHERNET. I want to read temp on HMI screen via MODBUS protocol. So, can you please provide me instruction about addressing of MODBUS register in Easy-Builder Software so can read data of corresponding register. Because when i do compile i got an error like " Device no Response". I hope i will get reply from your side as Fast as possible to overcome this problem. Thank you.

  21. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  22. PC send data to PLC

Hello, i'm newbie for plc. i want to ask about PC/computer send data to PLC CP1E with serial communication (RS232). my wiring cable is: PC                         PLC 2                             2 3                             3 5                             9 4&6    7&8                               4&5 and if i send data from PC to PLC, my indicator in COMM is blinking. i think the cable have no problem. but if i send data from PC to PLC, the memory is not same as what i send and whatever i send data, the memory didn't change. i will attach my ladder diagram. what should i do?    New folder.rar
  23. Hello all. I have been working with an SLC 5/04 system, which houses various Digital and Analog INs and OUTs, up to Slot 29. I am currently mainly working with Slot 25, an Analog Input: 1746-NI16I. This is a system which has already been set up and has been running for the best part of 8-10 years. This particular card has had some spare inputs, one of which I am trying to connect to. In the Advanced Configuration, only a few Channels are actually "Enabled", and each channel is pretty much slightly different from another in terms of Input Type, Filter Frequency and Data Format. I am trying to set up Input 14, which is Channel 15, to "Enable" it, 4-20mA Input Type, Filter Frequency of 6 Hz and Data Format of either Raw/Proportional or Engineering Units. Now, after I have made my choices, I click apply, and then OK. I am then confronted by a pop-up which states: "Configuration Rung and Data Integer Data File Number: 25 Integer Data Element: 100 Rung to be inserted: XIC S2:1/15 COP #N25:100 #O0:25.0 24 At Program File Number: 4 82" I have the options of OK or Cancel. If I click OK, I now have LAD 4, Rung 82 Highlighted. This First Scan Bit and COP function were already here, but does that mean I have now altered what is being written to "#O:25.0"? I now Download the Changes. However, after all this, I am not getting any Analog input reading coming in from the Live PLC. What is this COP function? What does it do? How do I properly set up this Analog Card?   Thanks for your time, -Jame
