I'm an automation tech in a tool and manufacturing facility.  Lately, we've quoted a few projects for customers that include tooling (stamping dies usually) as well as some partial automation.  The automation is fairly simple usually...motor, drive, actuator to transfer material in 2 axes, e.g.  The company president and quoting engineers don't think it's a big deal for us to do this, but I'm a little wary to agree to these projects.  I have 2 years experience doing all sorts of small programming tasks, wiring, control panel design and build, troubleshoot, etc. However, I also know that there are a lot of industry and safety standards to follow when you start machine building/integrating for customers.  The tooling build is straightforward and is our forte.  But we have no electrical/controls engineers, and we have no standards really for automation "builds".  I've done smaller projects for us and I'm trying to develop some sort of standards, but there was nothing like that when I came into this position.   Anyway, should I undertake these sorts of projects in your opinion or not? And if I would, what sort of knowledge/standards should I master in terms of liability and safety, and where would be a good place to start in developing a wiring/electrical schematic standard?   2. Hello! I am new at PLC programming. I am using TM221CE16R PLC with TM3AI8 analog input module and SoMachine Basic v1.6. I am trying to scale analog input value. I am using 4-20 mA pressure sensor. I managed my wiring so that I get raw values in SoMachine Basic. But I don't know how to scale these values to usable values. My sensor works in range 0 - 16 bar. What is best way to get values? Is it PID function block or multioperand function block using equations to get range 0 - 16? I will appreciate your help.   Thanks in advance!
  3. Hello. I am trying to make a serial RS 232C connection between Schneider Magelis HMIGXU3512 and Omron PLC CP1E. However, there seems to be a communication problems between both of the equipment. I am using cable XBT Z9740 for the serial communication cable. The format used is 8.2.N for both equipment. The baud rate is 115200. No Flow Rate is choose. Anyone can help with this kind of problems?
  4. Hi, I've been having a problem with my Schneider setup, and I can't seem to figure out the problem. I'm using Machine Expert Logic Builder and Vijeo 6.2, and I can't seem to download to my PLC. I can download to my HMI just fine, but my HMI comes back with the message as mentioned in the title. Also when I perform a full download, machine expert comes up with the message "Could not connect to the device for item "xx", selected target system "PLC name" is different from the connected device "HMI name". The weirdest thing is that machine expert shows my PLC just fine, but doesn't show my HMI. I have no idea what to do, as I feel like I've tried everything. The IP range is fine, subnet is fine. The driver in IO manager in Vijeo has the PLC nodename in it, so that shouldn't be the problem either. Does anyone know what to do in a situation like this? Thank you in advance!
  5. Hi guys, I have an M221 and trying to read process data from a HACH controller via Modbus 485. In the Read_Var function block I need to configure ObjType, FirstObj, Quantity and IndexData. Slave ID is 3 and I am using SL2. So, say if I wanted to read to following registers, Register #40001, Data Type Integer, Length 1, Description- Sensor Measure Register #40005, Data Type Float, Length 2, Description - Sensor Temp Register #40007, Data Type String, Length 6, Description - Sensor Name what do I put into the Read_Var function ? I am completely new to this and it's just not clear to me. Thanks John   
  6. IC220PNS001

    Hello, I currently have two IC220PNS001 connected to IC695PNC001. The PLC being used is IC695CPE330. Out of the two PNS001, one of them has a solid SF Red light on which means bus error according to the Status Parameter IO. I disconnect every single IC220 card connected and downloaded the whole configuration but I still have a Bus error.  PS: I have also tried to switch the PNS001 with the brand new out of the box and I still have the same error. In the manual, it says Profinet Diagnostic available, can somebody please guide me as to where I can find the Profinet Diagnostic, also is there any manual for PNS001 which explains the in-depth debugging process for this PROFINET Controller.

  8. Software for GE 90-30

    Hello all, I am an electrical engineering student and I am looking for some software to program some GE 90-30s I've acquired. I received the PLCs from a mentor at my internship after the summer was over. I have somewhere between 7-8 of them with a bunch of cards and other accessories. I was hoping to start doing some projects on my own to study them, but unfortunately, I don't have any software to program them.   I have some files for Logicmaster from the company directory that I was given permission to copy, but it won't run in any compatibility mode.   Does anybody know where I could find another copy of the software or a download for something like versapro or proficy machine edition for a student? Even if I have to pay a discounted price, I would, I just want to learn programming basics.

  10. indradrive problem

    Hi gays. I have a problem with my indradrive when I try to jog a Rexroth MSK motor. Indradrive: HCS02 (Basic Universal, single axis), control unit: CSB01.1C-SE-ENS-EN1-L1-S-NN-FW     &      power unit: HCS02.1E-W0012-A-03-NNNN Servo motor: MSK100B-0200-NN-S1-BP0-NNNN For joging (testing the motor in closed loop servo just with pc), I think need to run easy startup mode under the commissioning tab of indraworks software. (or am I wrong?) I connected the drive  via serial interface (out of the drive X2 connector) to my pc, and connected the drive to motor encoder port (out of the drive X8 connector).  I power on the drive (via X13) and go to easy startup mode, I face an "F3130 Error when checking input signals" alarm which I can not clear till now. referring to online help  I find some remedies declares that the problem arise from wiring. I tried to examine X41 connector with supplying 24v to it in various situations. but the mentioned alarm is resisting. anyone can help?

    Dear, Folks Greetings of the day                                     I am got very confused in "State Machine" Based Logic design, now am doing Index table based vision inspection system it having 6axis servo, now the major issue is I need to do the better logic with easy error traceability technique. So am chose state machine based system design but the error handling of system is very difficult for me. Any Process automation experts give me the proper solution for this issue or suggest any good book for this state machine error handling concept. There is a controller FX5U-32MP in the presence, the inscription "CC-Link IE Field Basic" and the Inverter (FR-A840-00170-E2-60) near the connector, the inscription "CC-Link IE Field Basic" on the front panel. I set up both devices according to the instructions. It turns out to read the state of the inverter (state, frequency). And I can not manage from the controller. Already all the settings that could have changed. Can you scribble what is wrong? p.s. Sorry for the bad english.
  15. hey, I'm making a program to controlle mutliple machines. But the problem is that i'm working on 2 plcs to controll it all, but there are some %MW that i need in both PLCs. Is there a way to connect the PLCs so they share these %MWs to both PLCs know what value is in it?

  17. Basic HMI Graph

    Hello All   I'd like to display data in 2 or 3 arrays as a graph on a KTP400, does anyone know of a way to do this, I know I could use a trend display , the only issue I have is that the array will be updated in around 10 to 20 msecs per element, and as far as I am aware the time between the trend values need to be 1 sec or more. Any comments would be appreciated.

For example, i have 7 %MW: -%MW4 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=1 -%MW8 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=2 -%MW12 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=3 -%MW16 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=4 -%MW20 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=5 -%MW24 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=6 -%MW28 that needs to be active when %SW49 :=7 so is there a way to say %MW0 := %MW(4*%SW49) on a operation block?
  19. Hi, I'm working in so machine basic v1.5 and I'm wondering if it is possible to change the start time and stop time in a schedule block with a %MW. So is there a possibility to for example say %CH0.??? := %MW5 in an operation block? And is there a page where u can see al the possible codes. I already discovered that %TM0.P changes its preset but i don't find a list of al those possibility's.

  23. FX5 CC-Link IEF Basic

    hello. I have developed project with 3 FX3U PLCs with ENET modules for communicating between them, and one of fx3u connected by profibus with 2 fx2n-32DP-IF I/O station (developed just hardware). This project still wait when customer accept it. I'm exactly sure that it will work perfectly. But now i think about exchange old and expensive fx3u to fx5u. I search for best solution for this task on fx5. I have a doubt with I/O station. Each remote station consist of 32 inputs,16 outputs, 8 AI. So i considered as a solution CC-Link IE Basic because no need buy additional modules. Did someone use fx5 CC-Link IEF Basic? As i understand ie field basic configurations like simple rs485 cc-link with occupied station, not like full ie field. FX5U can be the master of CC-link IEF basic with embedded ethernet with 6 slaves station and can be local station with FX5-CCLIEF module. But i not sure that i can use fx5 with NZ2 CC-Link IE Field Remote I/O. I have a doubt with configuration this station, because in CC-link IEF i can add this station and see how many rx/ry rww/rwr points i need, but for CC-link IEF basic configuration i can add just CC-link IEF basic module and choose number of occupied station. Slave 1) NZ2GFCE3-32D + NZ2EX2S1-16T (32/16) and  NZ2GF2BN-60AD4 + NZ2EX2B-60AD4  (8 AI). Slave 2) NZ2GFCE3-32D + NZ2EX2S1-16T (32/16) and  NZ2GF2BN-60AD4 + NZ2EX2B-60AD4  (8 AI). So can it work if not what device can be used with CC-link IEF basic? What benefits can give cc link ie field basic network than ethernet socket connection via UDP between 3 fx5 plcs? Or easier way using ST lite series and try to connect via modbus tcp.(as i understand fx5 provide p502 and modbus tcp)  
  24. My intention is create a visual basic program with access (or excel), if possible with a Cold link (so I wake up when I need data only). See if you can orientate me about the best way and solve my doubts. I am pretty new to all this. I have several Allan-bradley plc’s in the Ethernet network. Several PC’s with windows 8 and excel/acces in the latests versions I have a server in the net where I have installed RSLINX gateway version. I have created a topic and I can see the PLC variables in there OK. In rslinx  commnications -> I have set the click “enable rslinx classic gateway” I have run the OPC test client and it works OK according to some test Ihave found in google 8so OPC/DDE server is active etc) I want to retrieve Data in My PC from the rslinx that is in that server called BCNA08. I have colleagues that know how to run the EDIT ->copyDDE/OPC link and create a HOT LINK in excel in the same computer for other versions of rslinx (lite I believe) that they had for tests purposes. So I try the same but of course it does not work for a PC that is nor running RSlinx. My Rslinx is in BCNA08. How can I set a hot link (excel continuos update) and cold link (visual basic open/close communication). Any help or suggestions will be welcomed. Any good link to learn more too.  
  25. Programming a HMI to revert to Home Screen

    Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone here could explain to me how I can program my human-machine interface (HMI) to revert to a Home Screen after a period of inactivity. If the user has to leave at any time, and leaves the HMI on the last screen he/she was working on, I want the HMI to revert back to my Home Screen after 60 seconds inactivity. Has anyone here done anything similar to this before? Do you think it's worth the trouble of having such a function built into the HMI? Thank you for your time and for reading.
