    Hi Everyone We are setting up a initial training in PLC programming for technicians, I got some experience with SIEMENS S7 but this seems to be an expensive choice, we would like to opt for a budget PLC but at the same time would like a user friendly software for teaching......I would like to have views of users of other PLC brands such as OMRON, MITSUBISHI or even Schneider??? thanks Jay
  4. Any new tags I add in studio 5000 the HMI project shortcut cannot locate the tags, it says unresolved route to processor. It's the same shortcut all of the other tags are using. Please help.

Dear All, In one of my projects I need to login in HMI via Windows Linked Users i.e. Domain Users..I have never done this before & don't I have any sort of idea regarding this..This is possible in Rockwell HMI's but not sure about Beijer IX HMI's..   7. Hey, this is probably a stupid question, but how do I delete old FactoryTalk View Programs. They are the ones that I have uploaded from a PanelView Plus via the "Transfer Utility" and then restored runtime using the "Application Manager". I open up FactoryTalk View Studio and I can see a list of all the runtime applications or I can create a new one. My question is, where are these applications stored by default? I have a bunch of old ones and test programs that I want to delete that are just cluttering up my list. I attached a screenshot to show you exactly what I'm talking about. Hello everybody, I have network from : PC - 192.168.3.11 PLC - 192.168.3.250 I change this option in FX5U PLC in GX Works3 for Network Ethernet port --> Application Setting -> Security -Disable Direct connect with MELSOFT : Enable/disable -DO not respond CPU module search : Respond / not respond and I upload program to PLC. After upload program to PLC and restart it was impossible to connect again. I Have ping between PLC and PC, but could't write program. Always writes me Error <ES:0180840b> So to disable Security Option you should to do : 1. Open Works3 2. New Project (Choose your PLC - FX5U) 3. Online menu 4. Specify Destination Communication 5. Click twice in PLC module 6. Set Connect via hub (In my case i connect PC and PLC directly !) 7. Choose IP Address ( in my project : 192.168.3.250 , PC must be in same network 192.168.3.X) 8. Give OK 9. Connect Test. With steps I disable security options and it was enable to connect to PLC and Write data on it. I Hope that will help to other with same problem. Hi all, I need your help on Factory Talk issue, also for Factory Talk Transaction Manager, I suppose is the same reason.  Windows 7 - 64 FTV SE 7.00.00 FTTM 10.10 I'm Windows administrator. ****************** Factory Talk Issue: Error message: (Error:0x800706ba) Error Failed to load VBA project display cannot be opened at run time. (This is the error to open the first display). Message from Rockwell knowledge database: Error in the OS event viewer mentioned domain controller cannot be accessed to authenticate user. ***************** FTTM Issue: Can't Start with Services. Error message: The Services could not be validated using the specified username....
  12. Good Morning, I have some questions around the FactoryTalk View software used to create and modify Panelview Plus programs. I am currently working with Panelview Plus 1000. I have recently done a bit of programming on older panels through Panelbuilder32 so I have a some AB experience, but by no means am I an expert. This whole process seems a little overcomplicated (coming from an OMRON background)... having to upload, restore, then create back to runtime whilst having to match versions... First question is file types. I have noticed there are two file types. .APA and .MER. I have tried doing a little research but cannot figure out what the actual difference between these two file types are. I do know that when I upload the program from the HMI it comes in a .MER. Will this file contain all of the information from the original program? I have read some things about people losing security and communication set-up... Before I go downloading a modified program I would like to make sure this is not the case. Second question is with regards to editing procedure. My understanding is, as I mentioned above, I upload the .MER then I proceed to restore the application using FactoryTalk. I then edit everything I want. Is the correct procedure to then create a runtime application and then download that to the HMI. This question kind of ties into the first as I am really only worried about downloading and losing comms / security log ins. Third question is with regards to version. My understanding is I must match the version with the current version installed on the HMI. Is there anything more to this? When I create runtime application all I have to do is make sure the version type matches that of the HMI? Any help is very much appreciated :) Cheers, dWiseman

I am using FactoryTalk View Studio SE 8.20 to develop SCADA Application, and whenever I tried to open Tag Database it shows error "an error occurred while attempting to open the tag database editor" and not able to Open Tag database. Does anyone know solution for this? Error Screenshot Attached
  14. We had to migrate over to a different domain and all of a sudden my Transaction Manager asking for a username and password and I have no clue what it is.  Any ideas on what could have caused this and why this is popping up?

  17. Hi I am trying to test my application before transferring it to HMI. But All I see is question marks or Errors. I have checked RSLinx enterprise communication set up and its pointing to right controller. Is there something else I should check? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Would someone please help me how to convert an integer to ascii?   For example if the output tag is an ascii string, of 3 characters and my numeric input is integer.   When user input a value of 5, I would like the input value to be convert and assign to output ascii string tag of "005".  How do I set the conversion format in either tag assignment or tag expression?

  22. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows why we cant change the date on an application using the system tags? I was able to use the system tags for time and that works fine. however, year,day and month are giving me a write error. (Basically made a screen for the user to change the datae/time instead of going through the terminal settings. Using RS500 controller: Micrologix 1400 HMI: PV+700 Factory talk studio ME.

I want to view the ME apps as seamlessly as possible. i need to maintain the security and alarms from the ME systems into the SE system. What would be the best way to do this?   25. Hi I have a big issue with machine user access using loggin and password. There are different levels of login (operator, maintenance and admin) locked with physical key or password. The problem is that whenever any other user sees the password or got the key he can use it later. Is there another efficient way to lock the access and may be record who is logged when and how? Thanks
