Connect PV 550 with DH485 to SLC 5/04 CPU with rs232

Hi All I am new here without much experience of plcs. I have a PV 550 with DH485 coms port that I want to replace another PV550 with rs232 that communicated with an SLC 5/04. Is there some way to connect the two with a cable or protocol connector? Alternatively can you connect through the printer port on a PV600? CHeers Azza -

Micrologix 1400 - Read more than 82 ASCII characteres

I have a Micrologix 1400 and one PC which sends 102 Characters in RS-232. I need to read all characters with Micrologix 1400, Is there any way to read all characters? I know the limit of ARL and ARD instruction is 82 characters. I do not know if two ARD instructions could read all characters. Do you have any experienced like that? Could you help me? Thank you in advance -

Hi, I have (tried) to connect 3x NB5Q-TW00B on a CP1L-M60DR-A plc but cannot get it to work. It seems that there is no possibility to connect multiple NB's to one plc. However, the NB-Designer software allows me to connect multiple HMI's on one plc? Any ideas on how to get this to work? Kind regards, Rob

Hi every one, i'm new! I have a GSM modem: "F2013 GPRS IP Modem" (attach manual), one PLC CP1L-EM30DR-D and one CP1W-CIF01 RS-232C option boards (mount on PLC) So now, i want to connect them and send sms to mobile phone. I already read some topic in this forum regarding to this PLC RS232 port but still cant get the ideas when to create the ladder program. E.G: i want to send string "ABCDEF" to mobile phone when system has problem, what should i do?, how can i do that with ladder program in cx-programer? How to input to trigger the GSM send text msg: AT+CMGS=" YOUR PHONE NUMBER" and after that input to trigger GSM send text msg: YOUR TEXT MSG CONTAINS (Ctrl+z to send)? Hi, there, I'm totally new to OMRON PLC, right now I'm using CP1H PLC have two CP1W-CIF01 on it 1st CP1W-CIF01 set as 115200, 7,2,E, Host Link, station 0 connected to Pro-Face HMI 2nd CP1W-CIF01 also set as 115200, 7,2,E, Host Link, station 1, I want to use this COM to talk to my PC that I can run vb.net program to monitor the bit and set the bit value. can you guild me how to start this project? thank you very much! I have an omron cp1le plc and a sato s84ex printer I need to learn how to send print jobs to it. I know I can use the Serial card option and send the code to the printer over RS232. I am using the NiceLabel software and printing to file which extracts the SBL code. That is where I am stuck. What part of the code do I use and where do I put it in the CX-Programmer. And what instructions should I be learning to send Ascii to the printer. I am very new at all this and just want a few hinters and direction. Thanks.

Hi, I am trying to connect a CP1L-E to a NB7W-TW01B via a 5 port Ethernet switch. I have communication from the laptop to the PLC and from the Laptop to the HMI. but it seems like the HMI and PLC aren't communicating with each other. The HMI will not control the PLC. I've tried everything I know to do with the communication settings and it still will not work. If anyone has any suggestions they would be much appreciated! thanks

Hi, i am start a aplication whith modbus for a simple comunication(read/write), some analogic imputs and outputs, whith, AB Micrologix 1500 LSP (1 com port Rs232) and whith a Omron PLC CP1L-L + CIF01 (rs232). I using CP1L like a master, but i try a lot of time and no read/ Write happens, just the recognition of Node (1) and the error code 88, no mather whith Function code i use. I use Modscan32 whith Micrologix 1500 and works fine, com settings are right to, i try 38k, 19,2k, and now 9,2k None stop bit 1, setting on CP1L are in serial Gateway. If i take the cable the reponse memory go to zero, so the communication is happen, just dont in right way. Is possible to use, RS232 whith CP1L, for Modbus communication right ? I already see PCMR code for modbus, but is to complex, for my aplication. No ofense. Someone can help me?

Hello Everyone, I want to have a serial communication using Siemens S7-1200 with CM 1241 (RS-232) and communicate with my Arduino. Here is the setup of the communication. I have 2 temperature sensor and one Led connected to my Arduino, and on the PLC side I have S7-1200 from Siemens and CM-1241. Arduino and my PLC are connected just by using Tx and Rx pin no handshake is done. I am sending the temperature data from both the sensor to the PLC. on the PLC side i decide when to turn on the Led connected to my arduino depending on the different temperature values. I have assigning a ID to both the sensors before sending out the data. This is how the transmitted data from Arduino looks like $AOPT_TEMP1_20_TEMP2_21 . So far its good, I am receiving serial data on my PLC using RCV_PTP (received data are placed on the buffer) and sending data using SEND_PTP. I have also implement a filter on the PLC which will only accepts the serial data starting with '$AOPT_'. Now, I want to receive the temperature value from two temperature sensor TEMP1 & TEMP2 and then control the Led. For instance if (TEMP1>TEMP2 ) then turn ON the Led else turn OFF. I am able to receive the data on the PLC from Arduino but now I don't know how to proceed with comparing the received information. How do i extract the only required data from the received buffer? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

hi everybody i have a network with 2 pieces cj1m and 2 pieces cp1l communicating with a ns15 monitor. everything is fine. i need to connect an ixt4a monitor in that network. my question is : do i have to make new routing tables or it is not neccessary? my routing table for cj1m and cp1l cpus are attached. if then i have to make new routing table so that the cj1m will be able to communicate ixt4a monitor, how am i going to do it for both monitors? Any help will be mostly valuable and appreciated. thanks

I have a CP1L by Omron and a barcode reader by Honerwell. I want to activate the serial port 1, to connect it with the reader. The reader shoul read one of the 2 main barcodes. If the reader get the barcode 1, then it should read 3 times the barcode A and activate an output; but if it read the barcode 2, it should read 3 times the barcode B, and also activate an output. I want made my programm in ladder programation, How I can activate the serial port 1? How I set the the serial port 1 as an input to the function block RXDU? How works the FB RXDU? How I can set the codes? How I set the fb RXDU as an output?

First of all, I'd like to say hello to all of you. This is my first post here. I'm not well experienced in Omron products and I need a little help from you. My client has an old machine with Omron C60H PLC, He asked me the make the backup of the program and put the newer PLC. I'm thinking of using CP1L series (or CJ2 - not sure of it now). The question is, what accesories do I need to connect and upload program from C60H to my PC? I heard that the 3G2a6-LK201 module is adequate. Do I need something else? I'm using CX-programmer. Can I handle uploading program from C60H with this software? Is there a function that converts old program to newer version compatibile with CP1L or CJ2 series, or must it be done manually? If you have any tutorials or tips and tricks about migrating from C60H to newer series of Omron, I would very appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Marcin

I am trying to go online, in CXProgrammer, with a CP1L-M60DT1-D PLC. I am connecting with a USB cable (Standard-A on laptop side, standard-B on the PLC side). In my "Change PLC" dialog: Device type is set to CP1L, CPU type set to M. Network type is set to USB. FINS Destination Address Network set to 0, Node set to 0. I get "Failed to connect to the PLC" when trying to go online. Any ideas why? Thank you. (Note; the PLC connection is showing up in my Device Manager, and the correct driver is installed).

Hi, In my project, im tring to send a command from the hmi to the plc, truew the cable RS232 using the foloing conections: NT3S PLC 2 -----3 3------2 5------9 _4 |_5 But i dont know how the cp1l will read the comand sent by the HMI, i tried to use the HELP in the CX-PROGRAMMER but i stil didnt understand how they communicate. I already know that they communicate using the memory DM, and that the HMI works with ASCII communicacion.

Hello guys, actually I am new to this Omron PLC. but i have small project to transmit a command to the GSM modem via the RS232 port so it can trigger the modem to send text msg. Can you show me the steps/guide/sample program to accomplish this program coding? I already read some topic in this forum regarding to this PLC RS232 port but still cant get the ideas when to create the ladder program. Hello all, I am trying to connect a barcode scanner to my plc using a 232C in the serial1. The scanner is a motorolla ls3578 fz, with the following parameters: Transmit code ID: yes Data Transmission format: Data/suffix Suffix: CR(1013) Baud rate: 9600 Parity: none Hard/software handshacking: none Stop bit select: 1 Ascii format: 8 bit RTS Line state: high Prefix: none In order to send data form the scanner to the plc, I use the RXD function block with the following parameters: First receive word: D300 Control word: 0100(hex) Number of bytes: &10 All the communication settings of the PLC are the same that the scanner ones. PROBLEMS 1)When I scan something the scanner beeps as if a transmission error occurs, and the data is ignored. 2)The A392.14 never comes ON and. POSIBLE SOLUTIONS Type of barcode: Now I am using a Code39 barcode. Is it OK? How can I implement the suffix? I have a software that allows me create new barcodes, but I don’t know what kind of data do I need. With 1234567891013 the 1st problem occurs. With 123456789 nothing happens. Tricky Communication in between RTU and SCADA Front End Processor

I have the following situation; I have a distribution network connecting about 400 RTUs, using 101 protocol to connect to their PDH MUX, which data slot is transported using SDH STM-1/4, to the Primary Substations. Then the primary substations connect to the LDC building using STM-16. At the Control Centre Building where the Front End is located, there is a STM-16 node with some PDH ports, but definetly not 400, so how can I extract this 101 asyncronous data channels to connect them to the SCADA Front End? Note that conversion to 104 is not allowed by the client. Thanks in advance!
