Hello, I'm trying to use Mitsubishi GX Works 3 version 1 for the first time and get a 'memory is insufficient' error window when I try to open/start a new project or if I try to open a PLC project a co-worker made. I am using Windows 10/64-bit, company we purchased the software from says they are using it on windows 10 without issue. I get the error with no other programs running, have 6 GB RAM, and have 90% hard drive space available. I have monitored Task Manager while opening a file, RAM usage seems fine, and have tried opening with "Run as storminess". I have tried uninstalling the program using the window "uninstall or change a program" - is the a different way to uninstall this program that will wipe it more completely? The install CD has Disk1, Disk2, Disk3(DocFX) sub folder , Support folders - I ran the .exe file from all 3. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am able to open an HMI project in GT works 3 without issue. I attached a screen shot of the error. Thanks so much!!

Communicate between GX Works 3 in simulation mode and Citect via MX Component
POCKO posted a topic in Mitsubishi
Hi All, Have recently embarked on a project that has required me to change over to GX Works 3 in order to link an IQ-R120PCPU to a Citect 2018 SCADA package . In days gone by under IEC Developer and GX Works 2 it was quite easy to establish communications between the programming package running in simulation mode and a running Citect system using the MXCOMP driver via MX Components to perform offline testing. Can't seem to find a way to get it to work under GX Works 3 though, has anyone tried a similar setup Simulated logic in GX Works 3 is running fine and can modify the IO from inside MX Components "PLC Monitor Utility" program so there is no issues there, just cant get Citect to communicate. MX Component comm's has also been proven reading/writing variable to an excel sheet with GX Works 3 in simulation mode also. Attached are the files for getting GX Works 2 up and communicating to Citect 2018 via the same method i am trying to get working in GX Works 3 in case anyone ever needs to use that method. Any help would be appreciated. GXWORKS 2 & CITECT 2018.zip- 9 replies

Hello We use to protect our files from GT Designer3 with a username and password. So, I can only open the project if I know the user and password. Very handy. I found that function not in GX Works 3. The field "User management" in "project" menu is disabled (grey). So, I surely miss something. Can somebody help? The manual only tells about Block and CPU security. Thanks!

I am looking for how others have set up vertical axis motions using the Kinetix 5700 servo system. I have a 2 axis pick/place unit with a horizontal axis (X @ 2500mm) and vertical axis (Z @ 1200mm) that works as designed during normal operation. X axis has no holding brake and Z axis has a factory installed 24vdc to unlock brake. There is a GuardLogix L81ES control system that handles the safety and control. On pressing E-stop/opening Gates the vertical axis will stop the motion, apply the brake and hold with no problems. (2198-D032-ERS3 Drive, 2198-P031 Bus Power, MPL-B430P-MJ72AA X Axis, MPL-B330P-MJ74AA Z axis) The issue that I ran into was an accidental download of the program without activating the e-stop and the vertical axis dropped unexpectedly when entering program mode on the processor. I am aware that this instance was my fault as the programmer, however I am also concerned that this might occur again in the future if the controller ever enters fault mode or someone else completes a download. I have done some investigation with the "ProgrammedStopMode" parameter on this single motion axis and attempted all 5 options and the vertical axis still has a free fall drop for a second before the brake grabs hold - so evidently this is not working for me. (Page 24 of Vertical Load/Holding Brake manual - https://literature.rockwellautomatio...t003_-en-p.pdf) I am curious if there needs to be something done elsewhere as the X and Z axis are set up as coordinated axis? I also am unaware if I need to preform some action/parameter with the bus power supply for this? The current state of the machine as it sits now is preforming a MSF in manual mode after 5 seconds of inactivity or 30 seconds in auto mode. This axis is usually in demand every ~22 seconds. This will shut down the axis after preforming a brake test on the vertical load and seems to function OK, however it is still in the back of my mind the issues mentioned previously if we ever enter a controller fault while indexing. Thanks for your insight

Hi Guys I am trying to change a profibus module on a Q02CPU from a QJ71PB92D to a QJ71PB92V, but when I try to download I keep getting the error Flash ROM writing could not execute rightly. Now I can download and upload code thus I think the Cable and PLC power OFF is a null. How would I do this? I am using GX Works 2, as I do not have GX Configurator AD. Kind Regards Morne

Hi Guys, Can you help me out with this question The servo motor connected to axis-1 rotates in the forward direction when the M1 button is pressed, and in the reverse direction when the M2 button is pressed. When two buttons are pressed at the same time, the engine stops after 5 seconds. Write the program that performs this process with GX Works3.

PLC doesn't respond to communication requests or responds negatively to such requests. A PLC communication error can occur between the programmable computer and the devices it controls or when the technician attempts to program the device. If anybody have idea then share i am fresher now i learn it from CETPA INFOTECH. I think this is the best place to ask.

Original FX3U project written with GX Developer FX Version 8.45X. I now want to program an FX5U with the same program (well, slightly modified). I have MELSOFT GX Works3. How do I import / convert the original project? I have done a web search but can't find the answer. The installed help files don't seem to cover the topic either. Many thanks.

Communicating between plc's with different IP's
plcaholic posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
I am trying to get produced and consumed tags set up between 2 1756 racks with different ip's. The 1st rack has an ip address 172.28.6.3. The 2nd rack has an ip address of 10.81.105.8. Would this be as simple as adding an EN2T card to one of the racks and setting the ip of one onto the same network? Or is there a better way to do this?- 6 replies

I am new to Mitsubishi (only done Allen Bradley) and Im tasked with programming a MR-J4-60GF-RJ servo drive with a HG-SR motor. I am using GX Works 3 and have a R02CPU and I am wanting to use CC Link IE Field Basic communication with this. Do I have to use the point table to move this motor from "Point A-B" or can I send absolute positions, speed, etc to a given position. Any advice/programming examples would be great.

Hello friends, I have been working on Granite Line polisher machine. I have completed the program but there is a requirement for polishing the Uneven shape of granite slab. Has anyone worked on logic of this machine? Can anyone give some idea for the logic or the Plc program. I have seen Chinese machine manufacturers giving this feature.

Hi guys, I've just completed pre-commissioning on a Mitsubishi project which uses CCLink. My remit was to get the CCLink network up and running which I eventually did but not without issues. Basically, my problem was to do with the number of bits and registers consumed by a station. I read in a manual that each station consumes 32 bits and 4 registers for read and 32 bits and 4 registers for write. On my network I had 3 ST1H-BT modules occupying 2 stations each and 3 non Mitsubishi devices occupying 4 stations apiece. My RWr address starts at W300 and RWw at W500. Like I said everything matched up and I/O checks completed successfully. My question is, and I've trawled through the manuals looking for an answer, how is the number of points calculate? For example my non-Mitsubishi devices they occupy 4 stations, Expanded Cyclic Setting is Octuple and the number of points is 896. How is the 896 calculated? Thanks in advance

Hi, I am using PID function (PID operation instruction) from GX Works 3 library but it doesn't work. I set all necessary parameters (sampling time, direction and upper/lower limit values + KP, TI). My input PID_Par is array of 25 points (in manual is written: "*1When auto tuning is not used, the same number of points are occupied as when the step response method is used."). For example, in GX Works 2, PID function works ok. Did someone have similar problem? Does someone have mitsubishi library (GW Works 3) with PID function that works correctly? Regards Luka
