  1. Hi,  I'm trying to test the serial communications with my Micro820. I acquired a 2080-SERIALISOL so I could have "someone" to talk to. I want to use RS485, so I figured that I'd have to connect: Modbus pin 1 (D+) to serialisol pin A1 (+485) Modbus pin 2 (D-) to serialisol pin B4 (-485) Modbus pin 3 (GND) to serialisol pin A2 (GND) Now when it comes to CCW, the thing gets a little harder. I know I need to use the MSG_MODBUS block (in fact I need 2, one for the modbus and another one for the serialisol), and I guess I specify the interface I'm using on the TargetCfg field (data type MODBUSTARPARA). But how do I figure out that the Addr (UDINT) and Node (USINT) values are for my Modbus and Serialisol? Or am I doing it wrong? Does anybody know of any place where I can get some more guidance or even a funcional ladder program? Thank you in advance
  2. Dear All   Sorry for my English I have Siemens CM1241 (picture attach) and need to communicate with Intellisys XE 90 via Modbus RTU, period. The problem is, form XE 90 the connector is Phoenix Contact 2-Position Screw Plug Connectors MC 1,5/ 2-ST-3,81 1803578,or in other word, only 2 contacts form P9 COM1 = L1 , L2 (picture attach). How we connect it to DB9 Female in CM1241? What signal go to what Pin? How about the Ground? Do I need Resistor?   Thanks for all your supports   Best Regards
  3. I would like to send a character on a Micro830 using ASCII. I wish to send the character to a pc by using Real term or terra term on PC. Can somebody please let me know how can I configure the ladder diagram, I tried various commands including THE AWA, AWT and also the MSG_modbus however I can initiate the communication. I think that I am missing something cause I don't have a reference ladder diagram. Thanks

    Hi everyone, I am fairly new here, I have a CP1E-N40DR-A And i need to send a string of data to a printer over rs232 from the built in port on the PLC, I have had a look online and canot find any information on what I need to do. all the tutorials are for CJ2 cpus ect and the instructions that I would normally use on a CJ2 dont work on CP1E PLC's. Any help or light shed would be great,  Thanks in advance
  5. ok i have a rotary encoder to a HSC on my tm221, im converting that to ascii and outputting the value to a lascar HMI over rs232. example of value sent: 1234     value received: 2143 there don't seem to be any options to set the LSB or MSB , any ideas?? Dan

  9. Hi, I've recently bought a generic RS232/TTY cable for Siemens S5 PLC. I also bought a RS232 -> USB converter to connect the cable to my laptop. My problem is that when I connect from S5 to Laptop and run PG2000, I cannot load anything from the PLC as the program gets stuck. I think nothing is being read from the converter.     I'm working on a project that reads an RF - TAG via RS232. It uses the G.INPUT command. I need some help to see if I understand clearly how it works. Now it reads a maximum of 16 digits but in the future i want to pass it to 32 bits. The command line is |G.INPUT    U5    D6500    D6800    M7922| If I understood correctly I load in D6500 either 1 or 2 to tell it which channel to read from. It stores the 16 digits in words starting from D6800 and goes on till D6815 if I am correct. My questions are: - did I understand correctly how to use the command and is there anything else i need to take care of while using it? - do I need to do additional settings to it in order to read 32 digits or does it automatically read (if the RF reader is compatible with 32 digits)?   11. Hi. I'm hoping someone can give me an answer on this problem I'm having with a FX3GE PLC. I am trying to get a FX3GE plc to communicate to a drive over RS485 using a FX3G-485-BD card. In GXworks2. But am having no luck.  I have tried changing the PLC communication settings in PLC parameters between CH1 and CH2, But am unable to get any communication working on the front port. I have also tested with a FX3G-232-BD RS232 card and have the same problems. There is no activity on the SD RD led's and no data being sent. If I put the FX3G-485-BD card in a FX3G or FX3S PLC I have running the same code it works fine. So the problem I'm having is with the FX3GE PLC Please can someone tell me what the difference is with the front Communication port on the FX3G and the FX3GE. And how I can get the FX3G-485-BD card working on the FX3GE PLC. Thanks

  14. Hi All I am new here without much experience of plcs. I have a PV 550 with DH485 coms port that I want to replace another PV550 with rs232 that communicated with an SLC 5/04. Is there some way to connect the two with a cable or protocol connector? Alternatively can you connect through the printer port on a PV600? CHeers   Azza

  16. I have a Micrologix 1400 and one PC which sends 102 Characters in RS-232. I need to read all characters with Micrologix 1400, Is there any way to read all characters? I know the limit of ARL and ARD instruction is 82 characters. I do not know if two ARD instructions could read all characters. Do you have any experienced like that? Could you help me?     Hi Everyone: I want to comunicate 4 inverters 3G3MX2 through RS485 (modbus) to a CP1L-EL20DR-D.   I remeber that Omron has several FB to use between some PLCs and Inverters.  I wonder if Omron has developed a specific FB to communicate these models, and if it so, where can I find them. Any of you have knowledge or can provide me these FB?   Thank you for your support.

    Hello, For my thesis i'm using a beckhoff cx9020,a sunnyboy and a sunnyisland with rs485 communication protocol sma net. One of the things I need to do is to log everything from the sunny devices realtime. and here is where my problem starts. I am using rs485 to communicate with the devices via plc but I don't find any documention for what i need to request or send to get usefull data. does anyone here have an idea? Hi, there, I'm totally new to OMRON PLC, right now I'm using CP1H PLC have two CP1W-CIF01 on it 1st CP1W-CIF01 set as 115200, 7,2,E, Host Link, station 0 connected to Pro-Face HMI 2nd CP1W-CIF01 also set as 115200, 7,2,E, Host Link, station 1, I want to use this COM to talk to my PC that I can run vb.net program to monitor the bit and set the bit value. can you guild me how to start this project? thank you very much!     I have an omron cp1le plc and a sato s84ex printer I need to learn how to send print jobs to it. I know I can use the Serial card option and send the code to the printer over RS232. I am using the NiceLabel software and printing to file which extracts the SBL code. That is where I am stuck. What part of the code do I use and where do I put it in the CX-Programmer. And what instructions should I be learning to send Ascii to the printer. I am very new at all this and just want a few hinters and direction. Thanks.
  23. Hello Everyone, I want to have a serial communication using Siemens S7-1200 with CM 1241 (RS-232) and communicate with my Arduino. Here is the setup of the communication. I have 2 temperature sensor and one Led connected to my Arduino, and on the PLC side I have S7-1200 from Siemens and CM-1241. Arduino and my PLC are connected just by using Tx and Rx pin no handshake is done. I am sending the temperature data from both the sensor to the PLC. on the PLC side i decide when to turn on the Led connected to my arduino depending on the different temperature values. I have assigning a ID to both the sensors before sending out the data. This is how the transmitted data from Arduino looks like $AOPT_TEMP1_20_TEMP2_21 . So far its good, I am receiving serial data on my PLC using RCV_PTP (received data are placed on the buffer) and sending data using SEND_PTP. I have also implement a filter on the PLC which will only accepts the serial data starting with '$AOPT_'. Now, I want to receive the temperature value from two temperature sensor TEMP1 & TEMP2 and then control the Led. For instance if (TEMP1>TEMP2 ) then turn ON the Led else turn OFF. I am able to receive the data on the PLC from Arduino but now I don't know how to proceed with comparing the received information. How do i extract the only required data from the received buffer? Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance....

    Hello guys, actually I am new to this Omron PLC. but i have small project to transmit a command to the GSM modem via the RS232 port so it can trigger the modem to send text msg. Can you show me the steps/guide/sample program to accomplish this program coding? I already read some topic in this forum regarding to this PLC RS232 port but still cant get the ideas when to create the ladder program. PLC Type : CJ1H (CPU65H) - RS232 port First input to trigger the GSM send text msg: AT+CMGS="+YOUR HP NUMBER" Second input to trigger GSM send text msg: YOUR TEXT MSG CONTAINS (Ctrl+z to send) Many Thanks, AlexB

I have the following situation; I have a distribution network connecting about 400 RTUs, using 101 protocol to connect to their PDH MUX, which data slot is transported using SDH STM-1/4, to the Primary Substations. Then the primary substations connect to the LDC building using STM-16. At the Control Centre Building where the Front End is located, there is a STM-16 node with some PDH ports, but definetly not 400, so how can I extract this 101 asyncronous data channels to connect them to the SCADA Front End? Note that conversion to 104 is not allowed by the client. Thanks in advance!
