FX3U to FX3U via wifi
waynes posted a topic in MitsubishiGood day fellow PLC ninjas! I have a question/ concern which I would love your opinions on. We have 3 FX3U PLC’s+ENET cards. Two of the 3 PLC’s move around in an EMS trolley. The other is a ‘base station’ with a GOT2000 connected via Ethernet. Base PLC IP = 192.168.1.11 HMI IP = 192.168.1.31 Carrier 1 IP = 192.168.1.61 Carrier 2 IP = 192.168.1.62 I have programmed the base PLC to use Active communication; we are using fixed buffer communication to send and receive data to/ from the Carriers. The carriers are set up as Fullpassive ‘slaves’. This part works well and the update time changes (using a counter in the base station) from 1s to 100ms (because it enters a different work station). My issue is the following: using a network sniffer (WireShark), I pick up plenty of re-transmits and sequence number errors coming from the base PLC’s ENET card. This is troublesome and causes delays when the update time is required to be fast (100ms). I am sending and receiving 10 words of data. The wifi seems stable, and there is minimal noise in the area. The power has been turned down and the antennas used are suited well for the application. The antennas are at a similar height to minimize possible loss of signal. I have LOS (line-of-sight) to the carriers at all times; to at least one of the antennas (I am using 802.11n). Has anyone picked up issues or found settings which can be used for comms over wifi? I can easily do this using a S7-1200 Siemens PLC and have done so using 12x S7-1200 clients and 2 AP’s with 1 base PLC. I have also successfully done this using 8xFX3U client with a System Q base PLC. My suspicion is that the delay in reading and writing to/ from the BFM in the ENET card is causing this. I am not sure that if I change to a FX5U will help. The communication cards on the Mitsubishi PLC’s seem very limited. Does anyone have any technical details on the access times between the CPU and communications cards’ BFM? Help is as always, appreciated.
Wireless programming fx3g
JustinSmith posted a topic in MitsubishiHello, Can I get a laptop usb bluetooth receiver and a usb-> mini usb adapter and plug the bluetooth receiver into the programming port of a fx3g PLC for wireless melsec software connections? Seems like it would be a nifty little addition to any panel. https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Adapter-Wireless-Compatible-Computers/dp/B071WKP37Q/ref=asc_df_B071WKP37Q/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309751315916&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14775611605752866986&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9058221&hvtargid=pla-761431569272&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=67183599252&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309751315916&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14775611605752866986&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9058221&hvtargid=pla-761431569272 https://www.amazon.com/Ksmile%C2%AE-Female-Adapter-SamSung-tablets/dp/B01C6032G0/ref=asc_df_B01C6032G0/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309833041189&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3896490646336226374&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9058221&hvtargid=pla-567647287320&psc=1
FX3U PLC Monitoring with Ethernet Setup
Akhmad Zaki posted a topic in MitsubishiHi all, I want to ask some questions regarding Ethernet Communication with FX3U PLC series. I have 2 PLCs of FX3U series (FX3U-48M and FX3U-64M) and I want to monitor its data (input and output) using ethernet communication in real time. My questions are: 1. Does FX3U PLC have ethernet port so I can connect it directly to my Laptop/PC? 2. If no, do I need to use FX3U-ENET-ADP and can it be used for 2 PLC or only 1? 3. What software do I need to use to configure the communication between PLC and FX3U-ENET-ADP? 4. Does this configuration change the existing PLC program? 5. Can i transmit the data wireless-ly using some kind of ethernet to wifi adapter and what additional hardware do i need for that?

FX3U PLC Serial Comm over W-LAN
Xubaer posted a topic in MitsubishiHello every one. I have three FX3U plc needed to be communicate over a wireless network. I'm using serial adapter FX3U-485ADP. I got E-byte data trans reciver E-30 for wireless communication. Now need help to setup the whole thing. Previously the PLC's serial connectors were connected through a flexible bus but when the platforms are running fast there is interruption in the communication. So we want those PLC's to be connected over wifi. Thanks in Advance
dbenedi2 posted a topic in General Topics - The LoungeI'm looking for some general information about different types of vibration/temperature sensors. What type, brand, model number, etc. will best fit my application. Scenario: I want to monitor the vibration and temperature of multiple motors and gearboxes for a large overhead conveyor system. If an oil leak occurs and temperature increases, I want to see a temp. alert via a HMI. If a something mechanical fails, I want to see a vibration alert via a HMI. I've looked into sensors that stick to the outside housing of the motors or gearboxes via a magnet. My concern is justifying the temperature readings. How accurate would a sensor that reads an "ambient" temperature be (compared to a thermocouple on the motor coil itself or some sort of probe)? Also, would the location of the magnet on the motor or gearbox drastically affect the temp. or vib. readings? Has anyone had success with a similar setup? If so, what devices did you utilize? Are these systems truly beneficial? I'm currently considering Banner's wireless products...
PLC to PLC Wireless Communication
innoaloe posted a topic in OmronHello lads, I wanna ask if anyone have attempted to connect two or more Omron PLC via wireless before, and if so how you manage that? My understanding so far is that one PLC should be connected by Ethernet Cable to a Wireless Access Point, and the other one should connected to a Wireless Client. After that the Client tries to automatically connect to the Access Point, then both PLC can communicate via FINS/UDP or FINS/TCP easily. I want to test out two PLC for now, but on actual setup there might be 10 Wireless Clients Any thoughts? Thanks in advance
Problem with reading Modbus registers In Vijeo Citect SCADA
pateldhavalsm posted a topic in Modicon / Telemecanique / Schneider ElectricHello there. I have connected wireless module (master) to Vijeo Citect 7.4 using RS-485 to USB converter. My slave modules are supplied power from gird/generator and the master module is supplies from a UPS. I'm reading Modbus registers of slaves modules data via wireless master. Every time we have a power failure from grid, I get #BAD from all slave addresses. The generator kicks off within 30 sec. That is the slaves are off for 30 sec. Even after the slaves are powered on, SCADA does not poll data from it until I restart the SCADA. My current MODBUS parameters are: Inittype = 3, TimeOut = 3000, WatchTime = 10, Retry = 2. Could you please assist me on which parameters to change in .ini so that SCADA reads Modbus registers of slave for more than 30 sec. I tried increasing TimeOut to 30000 but it couldn't solve the problem. I would appreciate if some one could help me out. Thanak you in advance.

Multiple PLCs CIP Messaging Single CLX Main PLC
Stockman posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell AutomationI have a project that has moving carriers that each have their own CompactLogix processor onboard communicating over wireless to the main Controllogix PLC. When each station needs to update the supervisor or vice versa we enable a CIP Data Table Write to the other PLC. We have 36 moving stations basically, and one main. Looking for any tips from anyone who has had a similar project. We have lost messages in our trial and may need to sequence the messages. Thanks in advance.
Armadillo852 posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell AutomationHello All, I just had a brain storm while I was setting up a new piece of equipment. As most of us who setup new equipment, we use a long, long, long Ethernet cable when we are trying to reach the end of the machine. I was wondering if anyone has used a portable wireless router instead of a cable. I carry a Cisco router currently, but it isn't very portable. I also thought about Bluetooth, but not sure the range and/or if it works. Any thoughts on products? The big key is portability for me.
