  1. The large scale commissioning is definitely something we are considering with whatever solution we come up with. I will take a look at this and see if its something we are interested in. Thanks for the response!
  2. I am dealing with Novatech D3 DCS (with Modicon/quantum io and 8000 io), and a combination of PLC5s SLC500s and Controllogix as well.
  3. I work in a very large plant with tens of thousands of points of IO, my database for managing this is done through Microsoft Access and it isn't good to say the least. I am wondering what solutions others have used that have worked for similar applications. (I realize that part of the solution is dependent on the skill level of who puts it together) Right now my boss wants to create what would be hundreds of different excel sheets and I am just trying to figure out a way to pitch something along the lines of a SQL database, but it would help to have an example of something with good functionality for everyone from electrician/process engineer/programmers standpoint. Thanks for any suggestions/feedback you may provide!
  4. I would suggest uploading a copy of the program then power down the processor to wipe its memory then redownload the program.. not sure if your situation allows you to do this, but this has worked for me before. If not maybe my response will generate someone elses opinion!
  5. 1756-RM2

I will try to have a follow up post to share what I find out about this for future reference.
  6. Been awhile since I have posted, I was watching the rockwell tech connect presentation yesterday when I found out they do not make the 1756-RM modules anymore which is what I currently have installed. Did not even know these existed actually so I am curious as to when these came out if anyone knows, or if anyone has experience upgrading to the RM2. Does not look like it is as simple as swapping the modules out and I may need to upgrade my processors firmware. Thanks for the help as always!
  7. Firmware updates

I downloaded it from rockwell's site, on first use it accomplished exactly what I wanted an excel sheet of every device including E3s and vfds with revision and serial numbers. This will make it easy for me to keep track of any revisions that need updates with changes made to the network.
  8. Firmware updates

I found this program while searching for things to do this task: http://windows.podnova.com/software/715219.htm it is called ferret, may give it a shot and see what results I get
  9. Firmware updates

I also have asset center, but I guess I have not used it to try and get the firmware information for every file. I have well over 200 devices so going through one by one in device properties off of rslinx would not be very efficient. Is there a specific query that can be run in asset center to attain this information? I do not see anything at first glance that would work.
  10. I am trying to figure out an easy way to keep track of all of my controllers/comm modules like en2dns and dnbs firmware revisions and whether they are up to date or not. I am finding it difficult to easily know whether modules are updated without going to each one and checking its revision versus the revision available on rockwells site. Is there a tool out there to make this easier that I am missing or any tips that could help me with this? I can't say I have ever been proactive about keeping these up to date so I welcome all feedback!
  11. would this work for power supply statuses as well? *guess I should rephrase this, is there a way to do this for power supplies as well?
  12. I will try this and let you know if it works, thanks!
  13. 1756-L73 Rev 19.53, over ethernet through a 20-comm-e card, powerflex 7000-2 series B revision 9.003 I am able to connect to it with drive executive and go online/change parameters currently.
  14. I am tryng to add a powerflex 7000 2-E to a logix program and am getting a "drive correlation error": failed to verify i/o connection data Being relatively new to adding drives to programs I have never encountered this issue and am hoping to find someone who has! Thanks!
  15. Device Net

I am curious as to what you are trying to accomplish by setting these up in advance instead of hooking them up to a live network to configure them? It seems like a lot of work for something that isn't terribly difficult to do once they are on the network. Sounds like this set up should work for your purposes though
