  1. Maybe someone can help, first identify your software and details thereof. Also the model number of the QuickPanel and any PLC that is included.

  2. File Name: IC695CMM00xPorts.xls.zip File Submitter: RussB File Submitted: 08 Feb 2011 File Category: Manuals, Tutorials An Excel file to assist in laying out addresses and/or variables to control the serial ports on an IC695CMM002 or CMM004 module. It is incomplete in that this version only details the use variables used when the ports are configured as "Serial I/O" or the ASCII protocol. Click here to download this file

  3. You may want to get GFK-0582 also, it details Serial Communications in the GE world. It references a Task of 19 or 20 for a CMM module, but no Task 120. It sounds like the PCM module is being used as a CMM module, can you verify which PROM chip the module has? You would need to remove the cards from the housing and look at the chip. Generally a PCM module would have a BASIC program running on it and not have COMM_REQ data coming from the ladder, it is not an efficient way of using the PCM.

  4. This is typical behavior when trying to upload from a CPU with firmware that is not supported by Proficy. You may need to use LM90 to do the upload, and I recommend investing in a firmware upgrade.

  5. Keep in mind that the IC693CPU364 is obsolete and unavailable, the IC693CPU374 or IC693CPU372 can be used in its place for any new applications or for replacement. The differences are slight and subtle, most applications see none at all.

  6. If you would like someone to look at your logic, backup your project and post it here or PM me for an email address to send it to.

  7. That is very OLD, I do not recall what if any documentation GEIP (Fanuc) may have had on this product. I have nothing in my archives on it. I suggest that you try: GEIP Tech Support at: http://support.ge-ip.com/support/index?page=spage&id=ST6&locale=en-US&locale=en_US and/or the GEIP Forum at: http://forums.ge-ip.com/eforum/index.php?&locale=en-US

Sorry but there does not appear to be much experience in this here. I suggest that you try your Local GEIP support group.

  9. Is the project you have a .zip file backup, in that case you need to "Restore" it instead of opening it. The project may be corrupt or have components not compatible with your version. Can your project be opened by others? I suggest that you upgrade to the latest SIM, right now it is SIM19 to see if that helps.

  10. The loss of Comments was notorious with VP, it happened when an edit was made to a block that added a rung, download of the edit, then upload from the processor before saving and/or 'Check All' the project. No good way to get the comments back either. :( Hard to say what and why for your current problem, glad though that you have it working again. It has been a long time since I have had close contact with VersaPro. In the future after making an online change, after downloading, do a "Folder > Check All" (F7) then save the project.

  11. Sounds like a corrupted file, can you go back to your last backup to open in VersaPro then upload from the PLC to get the latest changes. You may need to add the documentation to the last changes. If you would like send me a backup of the file that is not working and I will take a look at it. (IM your email I will reply.) I highly recommend that you upgrade from VersaPro to Proficy ME as VersaPro has not been updated since May of '04 and has not been supported by GE for at least 4 years.

  12. Just a couple of additions to Steve's excellent reply. 1. The VersaMax Micro family of 20, 40, and 64 point CPU models beginning with Version 4.0 do accept online changes. 2. The PAC family of controllers does have a "test" mode (similar to RS) for online changes.

  13. Given that these devices communicate using Modbus RTU. It makes since that you will need to have the PC as Master and each node as slave. If there is one PLC in the building that is gathering all of the data from the others, you will need one to be 'Master' and the others 'Slave'. If your modem will be connecting to each slave and collect the data from each individually, it will need to be able to properly handle Modbus RTU and the node ID's used. Can you consult with whoever laid this out originally and did this ever work?

  14. For future reference and for others. Once it is installed and running properly, there are only 2 things that you need to remember to use LogicMaster 90-30 or 90-70. 1. The "Esc" key backs you up one menu. 2. "Alt-H" brings up online help. For everything else, just "read the screen".

  15. If you do not know the name of the program that is in the PLC be SURE to use the name "Temp" for the one that you want to upload to, this is important in that LM90 will not connect to a PLC if the name does not match the name of the 'Folder' in LM90, unless it is named "Temp". I just did this yesterday for a customer of mine, so it is fresh in my mind.

  16. The latest version or two will run on Win2k or WinXP, You will also need the 'Patch' Good luck with it and be sure to verify yor uploads. If you have any trouble with uploading, try to get just the 'Logic' separate from everything else, the hardware configuration is easy enough to build from scratch and it sometimes causes problems with an upload. If this works, great. Have fun with it and let us know how it turns out. BTW: GEIP now has a PAC system in the RX3i family that is very economical to use in a "High Availability" situation such as you have here. The existing program can be imported and you can sell your customer a "redundant" system that will assure them many more years of reliable control, installed and maintained by you.
