SIMPLE SCADA

19 posts in this topic

Looking for links to some simple SCADA What I need is a Scada Package or HMI package or some sort of OPC visualization to allow maybe max of 100 Points this needs to be ideally Freeware. or very cheap ware. Need to be able to communicate with OPC Server or Allen Bradley Controlllogix THis will only e used to display some PLC data for inhouse testing. I did try WINLOG LITE but it times out after about 10 mins - other wise it would have been perfect. We have full blown Wonderware for the main systems. but this means installing wonderware and servers etc I'm looking for something simple just to develop a few simple test tools graphics will be simple a few button and lights with some analog values. No need for security etc. ideally easy to set up on different machines in about 10 mins

The free 2 hour demo of FactoryPMI should work great for in house testing and visualization. You don't have any tag or screen limits, but you do need to "reset" it after 2 hours of continuous use (10 second process). It will install and run fine on a desktop PC, and the application can be launched on any machine with Java installed across the network with a web browser. I recommend installing it on the same machine as your OPC Server (RSLinx/Kepware/Matrikon/etc), although you don't have to. Download here if interested. Edited by Nathan

If you know any .Net coding you can by any OPC Client development toolkit for under $1000 US and make all the test applications you want Kepware makes ClientAce. CleintAce has a tool called the DA Junction that allows you to place objects in a Window and link the values from an OPC Server tag to the value fields of the objects. No coding is required for this it is basically drag and drop. You do have to have a full copy of VS 2003 or higher for ClientAce. Fred Loveless Kepware Technologies http://www.kepware.com

Andyhill, InduSoft has a package that fits what you are looking for: 1. A 150 tag count license that is priced very well. 2. Can communicate to Controllogix without any additional cost. InduSoft has a built in driver for Controllogix (Ethernet/IP), and unless you need OPC for some other device, you would not need the additional OPC server. If you did need it, InduSoft can easily import tags from the OPC server, no need to re-type. (Saving you further time!) 3. Your main systems are WonderWare, (I am assuming InTouch), InduSoft can communicate back to WonderWare in several ways (if necessary). 4. InduSoft is quick and easy to install, and can easily be remotely administered, at no additional cost. An InduSoft trial version can be downloaded here: www.indusoft.com Some items to consider: If you use a free (or extremely cheap) package, will they be around when you need support? Where does the support for a free product come from? Good luck in your product search! Cheers. Skortier, InduSoft

http://pvbrowser.org is an open source HMI / SCADA system. It supports OPC XML-DA but it can also talk Ethernet/IP directly.

Yeah, it looks like Reliance SCADA/HMI can do it all and even a lot more than that!
