Posted 11 Apr 2013 I am trying to directly connect a NS5-SQ11B-V2 HMI and a CJ2M-CPU 33 with built-in Ethernet. I have set up the IP Addresses 192.168.250.198 for the PLC and 192.168.250.199 for the HMI all the switches on the PLC are set correctly and it is not showing any errors. I can connect to the both using my computer via Ethernet but when i connect the ethernet cable between them the HMI times out and gives an error and the communitcation lights on the PLC stay off. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on something that might be commonly overlooked? Thanks,
Posted 11 Apr 2013 (edited) Is the "ethernet cable between them" straight or cross-link? Use straight cables if both are connected to a switch. For direct connection use cross-link. Edited 11 Apr 2013 by Sergei Troizky
Posted 12 Apr 2013 Which protocol do you choose in the cx-designer? Ethernet/IP or Fins?
Posted 12 Apr 2013 You will most likely need a routing table in the PLC as well
Posted 12 Apr 2013 Yes to above - use crossover cable if direct and straight cable through a switch. Have you set up a host in the screen? If not it will never work.
