touchpad breaks during being online with CJ1M

5 posts in this topic

Hi, Have you noticed such a behaviour: 1. Win7 and Alps touchpad works 2. plug in USB to serial converter still OK 3. connect to CJ1M via peripheral (CQM1-CIF02 plus adapter to mini) touchpad almost doesn't work - impossible to move the indicator; to work I have to attach external mouse. It looks like some conflict, but Alps driver doesn't show any conflict. When I disconnect CJ1M touchpad works correct Maybe you know the reason or what needs to be test to find out the problem, 64 bit OS - sucks

Only thing that comes to mind is some kind of ground loop problem, at least a power problem not something to do with drivers or conflict I guess. How is the touchpad powered? and the CJ1M? Are they grounded?

Geez! Why would you want to use a touch pad? Ruddy useless things. I use a Dell XPS with a 17" HD screen, wireless Logitech laser mouse, Logitech solar wireless keyboard and the biggest battery pack they can supply. Ruddy heavy but it works and is fast - also using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. The thing works for about 2 1/2 hours without power with all power saving stuff turned off. No time for toys!

BobB - maybe touchpad is not the best thing, but what you want use if you are next to the machine, no table and you have to carry laptop in your hand - hmm. PDL, maybe are right. The thing is that it is just happening in one customer. I used laptop on battery - no external supply and touchpad is build-in laptop - just in front of keyboard - regular touchpad supplied from laptop mainboard. CJ1M is a with CPU 12 and the strange is that I have this problem only in this company where 2 CJ1Ms are installed in different places. They look grounded, but maybe company has some problem with ground. In other company with CJ1M installed no problem at all. When I attach external USB mouse the mouse indicator works OK. Strange

Hi Paul - if needs be I put the heavy laptop, keyboard (solar wireless) and mouse (also wireless) on the floor and get down on my hands and knees. The solar keyboard and laser mouse are Logitech - forget Bluetooth useless. I guess we all have our likes and dislikes but I am not into these touch pad 'toys' that are about these days - I like real machines with lots of grunt no matter the weight. I carry mine in a backpack. I would rather put up with the weight to be honest. It is a big machine. Then there is the bag of cables, Promi Bluetooth ports, Adam isolated USB/RS232/422/485 converter etcetera. I guess you know what I mean.
