FT view studio security code for the numeric input enable button
Jiggadoo posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hello! I am programming with FT view studio version 8. In the program, when I make numeric display, I can not input values for this tag I am using in the display. Then I decided to make 'invisible button' for enabling the input for this tag which is shown in the numeric display. This is okey for me, only if there is other ways to do this please tell me. Now when I have created this numeric display with input enabling -'group', I have a problem, how can I use security levels for this group, so that only logging in values can be set? I have found that there is security code selection for this in the screen displays, but not for the buttons.- 3 replies

Micrologix 1000 Invalid STI Interupt Setpoint Fault
mark.mckee posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hello A-B Guru's, I have a small station with a Micrologix 1000 controller in it. Keep getting a "Major Halt Error S:1/13, Invalid STI interrupt set point. Refer to S:30." It is a very simple program, not using the STI instruction. Have a filter on the processor power. Nothing crazy going on, on the station, no big coils, etc. What can I do to prevent this fault from occurring? Can I add a line of code to always unlatch S:30? What should I do? Please help.- 2 replies

Resizing Pop-up of FactoryTalk View SE Signature Button
mcoghi posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Good Morning guys, I've been working on the last months in a complex project in Pharmochemical Industry, in this project the customers will need run FactoryTalk SE Client in a Data Collector(Motorola MC3190 with Windows CE and resolution 320x320), so because FT doesn't run in 3rd party Microsoft Windows CE devices/platforms, i will use Remote Desktop Connection from Windows to acess FT in a PC. Until here i didn't have problem, i created one script that detect the resolution of screen and open graphics developed in 320x320. And here comes the problem: FactoryTalk use one ActiveX developed by Rockwell to make Digital Signature, and this pop-up is too big for the resolution of Data Collector(320x320). I couldn't find a way to resize it.... I attached a picture from screen of MC3190. Anyone knows one way to resize the pop-up? If not's possible, have a way to send as a parameter the information to Digital Signature function? Thanks.- 1 reply

MicroLogix1000 for home automation/ projects?
hboyer90 posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hey guys, so for a while I've been wanting to get a little PLC for home that I can play with and just have some fun with. I don't know exactly what I will do with it, I mean I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Minneapolis, so I don't exactly have a large workshop to set up projects, but maybe some home automation type stuff. I'll probably set up a little test board with din rail and terminals and just mess around with it when I get bored. Anyways... so I wasn't sure what to get. I've always liked Allen Bradley, but the licenses are so expensive, obviously. But now with my current job I have to take my laptop home in case someone needs support on one of our machines, so I have RSLogix5, 500 and 5000 software/licenses installed on my laptop, so I can just use that. So I was looking at my options. I was thinking about getting an Aurduino or Raspberry Pi, but I kind of wanted to stay with Allen Bradley since that is what I use at work, and I may as well learn as much as I can about that. Well anyways, 2 nights ago I had a few too many drinks after work and I was browsing eBay for used PLCs and I bid on/won a MicroLogix1000. It seemed like a good idea at the time, it says its fully functional, it has free shipping is only $85, and since I already have the software... So what are your guys' thoughts on the MicroLogix1000? To be specific, the one I bought was the: 1761-L32BWA MICROLOGIX-1000 Besides the software and the computer cable, is there anything else I will need? I don't need expansion cards with this, unless I want, because it has i/o built into the controller, correct? I will just need a 120VAC and 24VDC power supply? Thanks!- 15 replies

I need disconnect for panel supplied with 120VAC power. I was hoping to find rotary disconnect with two poles (1 for hot, the other one for neutral) to run the incoming wires through but so far no luck, all I can find are the usual 3 and 4 pole disconnects. I guess I can use 1 pole 30A breaker and connect the neutral directly to the distribution block but I thought I could have disconnect with shaft/handle going through the front panel opening. Do they even exist? After I have spend couple hours looking for them with no luck I wonder if the breaker route is my only choice. Thanks.

FactoryTalk View SE Operator Activity log
Junot D. Ojong posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi, Is there a way to record/log any operator activity in FTView SE? I have been working around FTView SE to find how to log/record operator activity (such as changing setpoints, valve commands, operation modes). I used to work with Wonderware most of the time, and I could just configure to log/record a tag such that any operator activity with that tag is recorded in the alarm history/summary. So, how do we get around this in FTView SE? Thanks, Junot -
Ken Roach already answered this question for MicroLogix 1200, I'm trying to find the same answer for MicroLogix 1000. DF1 half-duplex communication gets dropped with MicroLogix 1000 slaves. I monitored the data, and found the slaves stop sending ACK, and the master stops sending ENQ. Slaves still send valid responses, but these responses are ignored by master because the ACK is not present. Power cycle solves the problem, but that's a hassle to drive out to remote sites. Power cycle to master sometimes solves the problem, but not always. Messages are initiated by the master, not by the slaves. Rockwell support said the only solution is to cycle power. Ken's approach was to monitor CS0:17, if it changes issue an ACL command. See previous topic: http://forums.mrplc.com/index.php?showtopic=22686 Thank you!

I'm having an issue when using Factory talk ME on a PV+1500. When the alarm banner pops up the screen saver will not reactivate until someone at least touches the the PV screen to close the alarm banner. Has anyone seen this issue before? I'm using the default alarm banner that comes in ME. The screen saver works any other time. This is a CE version of the PV.
