  1. Hello We have a HP ProBook 650 G1 with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and when im trying to install Sysmax Studio 1.14 it all goes well untill I get to the CX-Server part. The installation always stops there and I dont get any usefull information from the event viewer. Myabe, just maybe, it might have to do with Bluetooth, a couple of times I get an event about the process "devmonsrv.exe" and how it failed to start. But this event doesnt always appear so it might just be an coincident. The installtions halts when he does something with the "OmronZipItWnd.exe" file. Have anyone of you have had problems with installating CX-server on a HP machine running Win7?   Regards Niklas
  2. Hi guys, I'm in the middle of a little university project, I'm attempting to implement a control system purely based on artificial intelligence. A neural network will be used to map the characteristics of a power plant. A fuzzy logic controller will be used instead of the conventional PID and finally a genetic algorithm will be used to tune the controller while the system is online. This is all simulated of course. Each of those AI's will be developed in Matlab. Only problem with that is, is it outputs the code in C or C++ (From memory). I would have to convert this to structured text (Based on Pascal). So to circumvent this problem I thought I would just directly interface matlab to the PLC (Schneiders M340).  My idea being, all the calculations are done in matlab which are then sent back to the PLC. However this presents me with a new problem of how I would be able to interface matlab to the PLC. If anyone has experience with this sort of connectivity, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, Luchek
  3. So here's the problem I'm facing. I've recently started working for a company that has two facilities. They have lots of old equipment/PLCs, plus some new stuff. We undertook a project to upgrade the network infrastructure, and replace all the old programming terminals (Some had Windows 2000!) with a new standardized programming terminal, all sharing a common image. We've installed these new computers, and they were working great. Recently, we switched all the licensing to a Hyper-V based server, using FactoryTalk Activation Manager. Right off the hop, there was issues with one of the sites (let's call it site B). Site A is working fine. When you open FactoryTalk Activation manager, it populates the activations from the server in about 1s. The wait times for opening software are pretty normal (For RSLogix 5000, "normal" isn't exactly rapid, but like I said, that's normal). For Site B, the activations take forever to refresh in Activation Manager when opened on a programming terminal. The software takes even longer to open (we're talking about 2-3 minutes). Network wise, Site B is further along than Site A. We've implemented a Stratix layer 3 switch at the top of the network and use area specific VLANs to reduce multicast noise across the network (much of the multicast noise comes from vendor equipment, not PLCs, so I can't control it). This works fine. I can remote in and use TeamViewer/VNC with acceptable performance across the network, so it's not being bogged down to unacceptable levels. However, connection to the activation server is unacceptable. I'm not sure of the culprit (yet). We are continuing network improvements, removing some older 10/100 links and installing Gigabit equipment between the Hyper-V server and the above mentioned Stratix, hopefully that might help. However, that same 10/100 link is the one I use to remote in and use Teamviewer currently, so I can't see how much improvement it will give us for activations (which really should take almost no network traffic). To get activations, I'm just adding the IP address of the Activation Server into FTActivation Manager on the programming terminals. Any ideas, people? Thanks
  4. Hi All I am new here without much experience of plcs. I have a PV 550 with DH485 coms port that I want to replace another PV550 with rs232 that communicated with an SLC 5/04. Is there some way to connect the two with a cable or protocol connector? Alternatively can you connect through the printer port on a PV600? CHeers   Azza

  10. Hi, I am working on the following setup: External server connecting to PLC system via QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module and using MC protocolConnection via LAN cable (straight-though) between external server and QJ71E71-100 Ethernet moduleGoal is to pull data from PLC system via the use of MC protocol + 4E frame + ASCII data code + batch read Word units (via 0401 command, which is part of MC protocol)External server will act as TCP client, while QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module should act as TCP serverThe external server is using custom software (programmed in Python) to query/process response. At this moment I can 1) "ping" the QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module successfully, 2) connect to it via TCP socket and 3) send data via TCP socket. All is working well so far BUT I am not getting any data back from QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module. My setting are as follows: IP address of external server = 192.168.1.203 (it binds the socket to port 1500 of this external server when initiating communication). The external server will always initiate communication to query data whenever needed, FYI. IP address of QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module = 192.168.1.254, and it connects to port = 1500The Ethernet diagnostic tool indicates that my TCP packets are being received ("Total Number of Receives" increase every time data is sent), and that TCP response packets are being sent (increases in tandem with "Total Number of Receives" (apologies for poor picture quality): Would someone in the forum have experienced a similar issue (meaning that you could connect + send data from external server, but no data was getting sent back from QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module to external server? Are there some obvious mistakes in the configurations to the experienced eyes in this forum? For your information I am not using any gateway for the connection: it's a straight-through LAN cable from the external server directly into the QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module. Would such a setup work out of the box, or do I need to configure "Router Relay" or "Station No <-> IP information" within GX developer? Lastly I have not configured FTP, email or Interrupt settings, FYI. Thank you for your help, feel lost with this TCP connection issue. Regards to all forum readers! PS: find attached the pictures detailing configuration settings for both QJ71E71-100 Ethernet module and external server.
  11. I am trying to use the Tag Data Monitor Tool to create views for the different tags on my 1756-L73. When I try to connect (with the remote name the same as the Path that I use in RSLogix), and select "RSLinx OPC Server" as my OPC server and click connect I get the error window shown in the screenshot (http://i.imgur.com/JoCDvPo.png). I've done quite the extensive googlefu on anything containing the error "funConnectServer" and can find zero information as to why that would be happening. Am I missing something obvious? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  12. I'm using AuthSmtp as my mail provider and I need to be able to specify the port number. I can't find a place in the rslogix 500 channel setup to put the port id. Currently I'm giving just giving it the host name 'authsmtp.com. I did try the ip address with the port number xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx but that didn't work either. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  13. I'm trying to use CX-Server to pull data from my Omron CJ2H PLC directly into Excel. I'm able to pull a single element into excel, but when I try to pull more than one element, I get a huge strand of numbers. Is there a way that I can set up a single point in DDE Manager that'll hold all the elements that I need, then in excel have a formula that will pull out specific memory elements. Specifically I'm trying to pull data from D7200-D7399, and put each element into a separate cell it in a chart that ranges from B3-K22 This is what the formula looks like when I copy a point into excel =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1' I didnt know if I could put something at the end of each string to call out specific elements, but I keep getting "#BadPoint" =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7200' =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7201' ... =CDMDDE|'C:\Users\... ....cdm'!'\New Point 1'!'D7399' Any help would be great
  14. We have a couple Mitsubishi FX2c-96MT 's running a Laser engraver and one of them appears to have a faulty card or connections on the card. we picked up a couple spares one is a FX2C-96MT and the other is FX2c-96MT-ess. Is there really a difference between these? I see on the old PLC the middle card says ess on it already? we need to "harvest" the current plc program before swapping into the new unit. we picked up one of the cheapie pc connection kits which doesn't look like it is right and don't want to connect it and burn something out. IT has a rs232 on one end than a male 25-pin connector with a second cord that goes from female 25-pin to the mini-DIN connector. Neither of the FX2c-96MT plc's have a mini-din connection as i read online everywhere. there is a 25-pin connector on the top next to the FX2c-96MT label. is this the programming port? I would have assumed the programming port would either be the one covered up by the battery cover or the little one on the end with a 3/8 x 1" cover. I am assuming thae, with no instructions for much of anything. Thanks for all and any help in this matter t we should be able to use an older laptop running winXP for this? i downloaded GX developer and will install it on the xp laptop as soon as we are able to be sure of a cable that will be safe and not damage anything. If this cable we purchased will not work, could someone send a link for instructions to fabricate one? I see several in a gogle search, but they are all different and we want to make sure we do this safely as the program on the PLC is apparently NOT backed up anywhere, and the people who set it up years ago are long gon Paul
  15. CX-Supervisor can't runtime

hello guys, i got a little bit problem with my cx-supervisor 3.2. when i clicked the cx-supervisor development project, the message showed that cx-server detected a problem during initialitation. But it could enter the program with the new message again that access to the cx-server project has been denied and finally it surely could not runtime. After that i tried to fix it with uninstall and re-install but the result was the same. Please i need help to solve this problem. i have fixed it as much as i can it didnt work. Thank You Best regard
  16. Failed to connect to the PLC

Hi, I have suddenly got connection problems to my CJ2H-64EIP. PC is Win7 64bit pro. This combination has worked fine for 4 years, but now I can't connect by any means, tried direct online USB (Will sometimes connect, but CX-P crashes if PLC-program is uploaded - C++ runtime), Ethernet IP Node online, new project with Ethernet IP or USB. Communication to CX-Supervisor is also broken, so I suspect some kind of CX-Server problem. (Error "Invalid configuration: Marvin [CX-Server: MANAGER, INVALID_CONFIG, 0x822]). The PLC can be PINGed from this PC, and when I try to connect from another PC, everything is OK. I can also connect to a CS1G-43H with an ETN21 with no problems. Also tried to update CX-One to v 4.32. (CX-P v9.52) (first running the latest CX-Remover). The CXServer Driver management tool reports device driver v5.2 with my PLC listed. I have also tried to roll back some Windows updates, but the oldest restore point I could find did not help. Finally, when I try to load a program for this PLC from the disk, CX-Programmer crashes, same as above when uploading. Any ideas? Geir
  17. Hello all, I'm new to this forum, hope I will be able to get some answers on this forum. I'm wotking on maintanance for machines under productiona and I would like to conect one machine to my work PC. But when I try to setup conection with RSLinx, RSLinx don't see my PLC. Problem is that my PC is on network with IP addresses 192.168.8.XXX and machine is on 192.168.0.1 IP address and between is cisco RV180 routher which is set to have LAN address 192.168.8.168 (company network), and WAN is set as 192.168.0.200 (subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.201, dns 192.168.0.202). When I conect directly 1756 ENBT/A card to my laptop (laptop is set to same range of IP addresses) I can see PLC and everything is working but this way is not practical for me. Is there any way to conect my office PC to PLC, some settings in RSLinx Clasic? Any idea would be helpful. I attached simplified network drawing for easyer understanding. network.pdf Thank you for your time and help, best regards, baric1007
  18. Hi All, I am not able to download control strategy on DesignerSim. It throws error - " Could not initialize comm to DesignerSim. Err = OPC Server Disconnected". Initially I was able to download strategy on DesignerSim. However, I started observing this error after I installed Wonderware software on the same system. So my system has GE WorkBench 8.4.0 and Wonderware 2014 installed on it. As per GE user guide, GE workbench is compatible with wonderware software. So, I am not sure what's going wrong with the set up which I have. I also tried to install these software on other system, and observed same issue. Does anyone know what could be potential reason for this error ? and How can I resolve it ? Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi guys: I am currently having a project to connect the PLC with MATLAB for online application. Is there anyone ever use CX-server OPC to create the cdm project file? Any idea about how to configure or set the point for certain device like omron plc model: CP1E-NA type? I have create the file and edit the point according to the data memory area info, However, the plc can only connected for a short while and gone, showing connection failed message. Any idea what is going wrong? Your attention and help is appreciated. Best regards
  20. Hello all, first post here, and thanks in advance for the help. I'm a fairly green SCADA and controls designer and although I worked fairly extensively with these systems in the past, I followed a sightly different career path for the last several years and haven't had my hands on a PLC that whole time. Started a new job and am rebuilding my knowledge with it. Fortunately my company afforded me a PLC to take home and mess around with for this purpose. I feel pretty dumb as I am struggling to even connect with it, haha. Here are the stats: Backplane: TSXRKY4EX (end caps are securely in place) Power supply: TSX PSY2600 Processor: TSX P57 6634 First I attempted to connect via ethernet, using the IP address sticky-noted to the front of the processor: 10.1.1.80. No luck, "PLC address is incorrect, or PLC is busy, yadda yadda". As I understand, the default IP address can be converted from the MAC address. The last two MAC address numbers were: CF.87, which gave me the address 85.16.207.135. Same result with this. I tried pinging both address from the command console and had no luck there either. I happened to have a USB to unitelway adapter (Telemecanique brand) and attempted using that as well, Address:SYS.. Media:Unitelway. No luck, same answer. After a lot of frustration and hours spent scouring the internet for answers, I took the nuclear option and pulled the battery (while unplugged) and replaced after 30 or so seconds. I was assuming this would clear the memory and reset the IP to default (85.16.207.135), afterwhich I could reconfigure and start fresh. Unity still can't connect nor can I ping it. It should be noted that I am using Unity Pro XL Version 8.0, on a VMware image. I did attempt pinging from both the VM and the host machine, both can ping other known devices so connection by the VM through the host shouldn't be the problem. Neither the VM or the host recieved a ping reply from the PLC. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I feel I have exhausted all options and I hope I didn't shoot myself in the foot by pulling the battery. As far as whatever program was on it before is irrelevant, the PLC was given to me to do with whatever I wish, so memory loss wasn't a danger. I just need to connect to it. Thanks!!
