  1. Logix pro is a good simulator if you want something really cheap.
  2. Yes if you wire 1 to 11 that will bypass any safeties. these should be your settings P36 = 1 for a momentary start P38 = 4 speed reference/ preset freq P39 = how fast you want it to speed up ( I usually just set these for 1.0 sec) p40 = how fast you want it to slow down A51 = 4 A52 = 4 A53 = 4 A71 = hertz for digital input 1 (terminal 5) A72 = hz for dig input 2 (terminal 6) A74 = hz for dig input 3 (terminal 7) ^ Those will be your 3 speeds you want the motor to run A95 = 1 to disable the reverse function Im not sure how much you know about motors but if its running the wrong direction then switch 2 of the motor leads. After you set your parameters hit the back button on the drive a few times and it will display the hertz that it is running. If you have any questions about wiring or any other funtions just let me know.
  3. To run manually set p36 and p38 to 0. Then hit the green button and the speed pot on the drive will control your speed so make sure its turned down before you hit start. Is anything hooked to input 11? It should have came with a jumper their. If you could explain what you want to do Ill give you the parameters to set. Like do you want to reverse or do you have an external speed pot and just how you want it to work. 11 supplies 24 volts to use as the estop and start. You have to have 24 volts on 1 to run. http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/22b-um001_-en-e.pdf
  4. Tag Data Monitor Tool

You are able to put descriptions on tags in contol logix. I guess im not sure what you are asking though if you are asking where it is on control logix then if you right click the bit it will have the option for properties, or in the controller organizer click controller tags and you can add description their as well.
  5. Factory Talk SE

Are you positive the timer that is coming into the display is not allready tracking minutes and hours in a word and the factory view tag is just looking at the seconds by themselves? And are you wanting to display the time? I would check what the seconds display is looking at for its information first. Then If it is just a 60 second timer the you will have to create 2 separate tags for the hours and minutes and group them. You will have to play with it because I am no pro and hopefully their is an easier way but your numeric display tag for your minutes you would have to go into the animation-visibility and click expression and say somthing like; If (seconds tag) = 60 then + 1 and the the hour display would say; If (minute display tag) = 60 then + 1. It would be much easier if you could change the program itself
  6. Thank you Im pretty sure you are right now, today I came in when nothing was running and plugged in and it was just slightly responsive. It was very aggrevating but I got what I needed to done. Now do you think this could cause a problem on the rest of my network overtime? I haven't had any problems (that I know of)yet but I have about 150 PLCs on this network, thats not counting the screens and drives. but what do you think?
  7. Iv always used clipping in my programs to say if this number goes under 5 write a 5 to it. It come in handing setting up analog cards
  8. Ok I see I wish I could be more help I had a similar project everyone wanted the company network separate from the factory network but wanted the companies network to update the factory computers. So I just had them buy me a server and put two nic cards in it so they are physically separate for security reasons but I can send updates regularly to the factory computers. but I did read that some managed switches you can configure a router to talk between the two networks.
  9. Well each output is rated for 2.5 amps using AC and 2 amps for 24VDC so they will be able to handle it. Other then that just fuse each output to protect your wiring and that should be it. http://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/in/1762-in003_-en-p.pdf That is a link to the manual if you want to read for yourself.
  10. From my understanding VLans are to virtually separate a physical connection so im not sure if you can use it to connect different devices. But what I do know is even if you connected those two networks they still would not be able to talk because they are on separate subnets and you would need a gate way to connect through that. What is your goal? Just to have your computer be able to connect to the two different networks?
  11. Ok this is my first time posting here so go easy on me if I'm in the wrong place. I have a 5 port ethernet switch in a control panel that is connected to an HMI, 5/05, and up to the roof switches for the rest of the network. I went to the panel to go online with the processor and plugged in my ethernet cable but then my touch pad on the laptop would not respond so I pulled the cable out and it started working just fine. After that I changed ports on the switch in the panel and had the same problem. Finally I go to my office and try to connect to the same processor from there and it worked just fine. Anyways I was wondering is there to much traffic on that switch or is it just bad all together, the machine is running production right now otherwise I would have tried a new switch all ready. Thanks for your time
