Hi, I have a broken Kinetix 350 and I need to replace it. The 350 is at end of life and I thought I could replace it with a replacement model. Rockwellautomation.com says that  2198-C4020-ERS is the replacement for the one I have.  What do I need to do to be able to replace it with this one? I guess I have to change the drive in Studio 5000?

In ControlFlash plus it says "Revision downloaded is not compatible with this device's hardware series. Choose a revision that is compatible" And in ControlFlash, the firmware does not appear.   Not really sure if I am downloading the firmware correct. I get a zipped file with a .msi file inside. I tried to run the .msi file and it says installation complete, but the firmware is still not in the list in controlflash.

Hi I have a CompactLogix L18ERM which has a fault message. It says (Code 16#0203) Connection timed out. I have tried to download a new blank project to see if there where any faults in the current one, but its still the same. Any suggestions?  

Ok, so I can flash it to version 20. I think I might just be doing something wrong when I am trying to download and flash the version.

Yes that is also what I thought. Studio 5000 lets me create a project in version 21 for the L18ERM.

I ended up replacing the controller. I tried everything you guys said in here, but I cannot get it to work. I have a different question regarding the same controller type. On the rockwell webpage it says that the 1769-L18ERM-B1BB series B is compatible with revision 21.011, but when I try to flash it to that revision it says that it is not. Does it need to be a series A to be able to run revision 21.011?

Its a running application. The Controller has been turned off for a couple of weeks and this happend when it was turned back on again today. Series B.

  I use Studio 5000. This is the fault message I get. And the I/O lights is flashing green.

Hi, I am having trouble with an electric motor that keeps stopping randomly. It does not happen often but maybe once everyday.  I get no fault message on the HMI. I am not sure if I get an error on the frequency converter because the operators does a quick reset to get it working again to avoid production stop. Is there a way to view a fault history on the PowerFlex 525? Or can I connect my computer somehow and start a data logging so I can read out what happens when it stops?   Thanks in advance.

Hi, I get an error message when I try to open factory talk. I have tried to delete and reinstall, but that did not help. Any suggestions?   Robin

I Yes the machine was operational when it was shut down.  And the solution is as you say just download the application again. I just really cant understand why the application just disappears. Maybe the flash memory is faulty in some way?

Hi, We have a PanelView 600 from 1999. It is still working but after turning it on today for the first time in two years, the application has been lost. I get an error code "1110 - No valid application". How is it possible for the application to disappear from the HMI?  

Hi, How can I transfer parameters from one powerflex 525 to another? They are not connected to a plc via ethernet. 

Thank you. I just followed the steps and it worked well. I had to use a VM with windows 7 like you said. Does this procedure transfer all of the parameters or do I need to manually put in some of them?

Hi, Is there a way to access the windows screen on a PanelView if you dont know the password you need to enter? If no, is there a way to recover or reset the password?

Yes that is absolutely true. The signal range of the router is not the best so you cannot be out of sight with this one.  Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you very much for your response ElectornGuru.  I figured out how to use VNC via phone to control a PanelView. I bought this router from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Richer-R-Wireless-Portable-Hotspot-Compatible/dp/B07CMV6CVZ/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=3g+router&qid=1615885490&sr=8-10 Then I had to change the IP of the router so its in the same range as the HMI.  I then went in to the Windows screen on the HMI and turned on the VNC server. (Windows button - Settings - Control panel - Services.) Press the VNC button to make it turn green.  And now I downloaded a VNC app on my phone and typed in the IP of the screen and connected. It makes me have full control over the HMI on my phone. Pretty useful feature in some cases. 

Looks like the only way for me now is to reset the PanelView back to its factory settings, but thats not a huge job so its ok. I have another question. I would like to be able to view and control the HMI from my phone. (Thats why I need to get to the windows screen to set up the VNC server) What do I need to be able to connect to the HMI via WIFI? Would I need some kind of access point/router that transmits a WIFI signal I can connect to?   Robin

Yes I can access the config display. I will try that password when I get back to work. Hopefully it works. Thank you for answering!

Hi, We have some HMI screens where some pages are password protected to prevent everyone from accessing. The problem is that "everyone" knows these passwords now. I can ofcourse change the password but it will just take a couple of weeks and everyone will know these passwords...   Is there a way to make the password change daily and have the correct password appear in an Excel document? We have this on a Siemens HMI and I like it, but is it possible on a Panelview HMI?  Robin

Have you done this with the built in security function in the HMI?
