Copper Conductor Bars Preparation

5 posts in this topic

I am getting ready to bolt my copper power bars back on my Flash Welder but I am a little unclear how to prep them. The are 4" X 10" and have 8 1/2" Copper bolts. It is copper to copper. My first thought is to just take a mild abrasive pad and clean them up. Anyone have any advice?

We clean up our buss bars at the connection points with a scotchbrite pad and then burnish the connection points with Cool-Amp silver paste.

We use scotchbrite or a clean (new) wire brush and then put CUAL-GEL http://www.penn-union.com/html/newsarticle.vnx?postid=83 on them.

Thanks for the advice. One other thing I just thought about. What should I torque the bolts to?
