I am trying to design and build a small system that wll be SLC controlled via a panelview. There is 2 VFD that will be controlled from the panelview. I am currently looking at a SLC 5/04, Panelview 1000, PF 4 2hp 480VAC, PF 70 7.5hp 480VAC. I cannot figure which is the most effienct way to connect them all together. I am looking at both the cost and easy of programming and construction. I also need to be able to connect to the PLC with my laptop without having to disconnect anything. I would appreciate any and all help you can give me.

I would go with the 5/05 and use ethernet for communication between the panelview and the plc, if you install a switch between the two, then you can use one of the ports for programming etc... Plus, there is no need for special hardware in your laptop or desktop.
