Encoder To Ab1200

Hi I have a encoder with the descrpition on it " +5volts on the red " My question is can I hook it up to a AB 1200 1762-L24BWA and how do you hoook it to the plc Leads ----Function red--------- +5volts black-------- common white -------CH A green-------- CH B SHIELD------- CASE GRD Thanks Andrea Edited by andrea

You can't. You need a 24VDC encoder After that look at THIS technote A17586 - "Quick Start " Using the High Speed Counter ( HSC ) for the MicroLogix 1200 and 1500 Post the part number and manufacturer of the encoder you have if you need help changing the part number the 24VDC

Hi Thanks for the reply . The encoder is a MOTION CONTROL DEVICES MODEL NO ---- C-0102-0 SIN 08850228 CUSTOMER P/N 82884 Thanks Andrea

Not sure about that company. You may need to call them to figure out the 24 VDC equivalent
