How to enable source protection in several versions of RSLogix 5000?

Hello Friends

I have a installation with v16, v17, v18, v19, v20. When I tried to open a v20 file, the enable source protection was not enabled. So I run the enable source protection from the installation folder, and I can open the v20 file and the menu enable source perotecction enable.
But I tried to open a file v17 and the enable source protection was disabled.
If I open the v20 the enable source protection works, but not with v17.
How can I fix that?

I could be corrected, but the source protection you are talking about is only for version 20 and later.  I presume you want to change the program for use with v17.  To do so you will need to open the original in v20, turn off the source protection in the security tab of the controller properties and save to a new name. Then change the controller to v17 and it should convert the program.

I've never seen RSLogix offer to downgrade a project.  Doing it manually by cutting and pasting L5K text files is sometimes possible.
