Encoder input

Hi, can anyone explain how an encoder is read into a PLC. My understanding is it use pulses? is that correct? How does that work? Thanks Stuart

Please be a little more specific. What Make and Model of PLC are you using? What is the Encoder connected to. i.e. PLC HSC Input, or HSC Card. What Make and Model of Encoder are you using? Stu....

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I am correct in saying that depending on what PLC is used, that the way the PLC interprets encoder is different? and the encoder outputs are different too? Stu
