What are these things called? Like you have in your car, or keyboard etc. There's an LED behind them, but all the part is that's mounted on the surface is a plastic window that catches the light to display to the user? I need to purchase some, so if you have any idea what they're called or where to buy them, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks.

In some cars, there are simple clear plastic "pegs" sometimes painted with a silver reflective paint that direct incandescent light and spread it out to the seat belt warning light, for example. Some newer ones even have fiber optic cable directing light from several feet away. I think we need a picture of what you re trying to highlight with this lens. Edited 11 Oct 2012 by OkiePC

I think what you are describing is a "light pipe". It is a low tech form of a fiber optic. They are generally just a round piece of clear acrylic rod custom made for a specific application. The Mouser Electronics catalog lists some, but I don't know if they are what you want.
