There should be some good examples of Q Ethernet on the UK website. Might have to register for a free 'MyMitsubishi' account to get to program examples, but I thought there were some there.

I have done something similar I think with the same gear. Opens the port 1 time only and leave them open. If your port is not open I dont think any data will get through. You do not need to close ports, if QJ71 is for Q-PLC bewaware Q ports are hex and Enet ports are dec Looks like you got 3 connections, You should be able to connect between enet modules via MC protocol
