Posted 21 Sep 2007 Does anyone know of a Canopen card for the Q series? I have seen canopen listed for the FX, but nothing for the Q rack. Do they have anything in Europe or Japan?
Posted 21 Sep 2007 NO module exists for CANopen for Q. And the CANopen module for the FX is not sold in North America.
Posted 21 Sep 2007 you can always use one of the gateway moduled that convert between networks. HMS (anybus) is popular one (their products are also marketed under with names and logos of other companies): http://www.anybus.com/products/abx.asp http://www.anybus.com/products/canopen.shtml
Posted 2 Oct 2007 Yes, but how can you program servo drives. I was told that CanOpen has a special protocol for servo drives, and I can't see how a gateway could handle this. I'd be glad to find out that a gateway works seamlessly, but I am doubtful.
Posted 9 Oct 2007 if you have specific problem, it will be better to post more details. gateways show up as slave to your network and act as a master to field devices. normally they just map 1:1 blocks of memory (bits, bytes, words) to both sides (in and out) which is perfectly ok for standard I/O for example (this is what fieldbusses are really used for). you would have to contact manufacturer to find out more. issues with protocols are not impossible or unimaginable (for example speeds of the two networks may be different and even if they are not, overheads are different etc.)
