S7-300 PC ADAPTER

HEI FRIENDS, CAN ANYBODY HELP ME, WHETHER THE PC ADAPTER FOR S7-300 IS A REGULAR RS 232-RS422 CONVERTER. AND THE MPI PORT OF THE CPU DOES IT COMPLIES WITH RS422 SIGNALS. THANKS AND REGRDS, CHANDRU.

Hi CHANDRU. No, the PC adapter does 2 things: Converts from RS232 on the PC side to RS485 on the MPI side. Converts the protocol from ?? (dont know exactly what it uses from the PC, someone has mentioned FDL) to MPI protocol. And on the PC side it runs at a different baudrate than MPI side (typically 19.2K or 38.4K on the PC side and 19.2K, 187.5K or 1.5M on the MPI side). You cannot use the PC adapter as a generic RS232/RS422 or RS232/RS485 converter. MPI is RS485, not RS422.
