New system working with PLC5/25 processor

Hello, On a machine I have a PLC5 system with a PLC5/25 processor with a lot of input/output cards. Totally rack numbers are 6. Now for the modification of the machine I must have serial communications with a serial-printer and a lot of input/output signals. Normally I must use a basic-module for this (1771-DB/B) but there is no place in the rack (1771/A4B). So I want to make a new PLC-system that can communicate with the PLC5/25 processor (DH+) and have serial communication for the printer. Also using new input and output signals. What for system I can use? Must be a system that´s smaller as the PLC5-system. Micrologix - Controllogix? mulderm Edited 28 Feb 2007 by mulderm

For DH+ communiction, I believe your choices are Control Logix or a SLC 5/04

If the DH+ tp PLC 5 is not set in stone I have a nice option. Use the 1771-ACN15 in place of the PLC 5/25 CPU and use a Controllogix Processor with 1756-CNBD card. you can add 1734-ACN and 1734-RS232 moudles to the controlnet for the serial io. The 1734 also supports point io for your ins and outs.
