We had that error several times...We cleared the memory and reloaded program and IO config and it never faulted again. Don't know if that is the best answer but it worked for us.

Using two ML1400 to send data from one to another. (PLC A to PLC B) Just curious what would be the best way to use a "heartbeat" from PLC A to PLC B so PLC B knows that PLC A is OK...?? Thanks Mark

Happy Easter All... I have "2" ML1400s tied together via ENET. Im sending data from Controller A to Controller B with N7 (Integer Values). I have the MSG (Write) instruction configured for 10 elements which is way more than I need. I can see the MSG instruction executing and the DN bit toggling as well. The problem is IF I just send bits (i.e.. N7:0/0 etc., etc.) it works fine, but when I send a decimal number (i.e... N7:2 etc., etc.) it does not work. Any suggestions..?? Thanks, Mark

ML1400 Heartbeat
PortenoSuenos replied to PortenoSuenos's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi Jeremy... So could I just use a 10 Sec TON in PLC B to monitor a bit from PLC A that is alternating at a 5 sec ON/OFF time, then if the TON in PLC B times out I would know it wasn't communicating..??? AND also....I would need another 5 second TON in PLC B monitoring the opposite state of the bit then IF either timer timed out I would know that the comms is lost. I think this is kind of what you are saying (I think). Sometimes Its hard for me to picture in my mind how something simple works..!! :) I found that using just the one timer did not work...hehe Mille Grazie Jeremy -
are there any Standard for SCADA?
PortenoSuenos replied to jdiecar's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Hi Juan, I think that might be tough... I don't know if there is just "one" SCADA standard because each persons needs and requirements might be different. I have some customers that will only use Siemens for PLC and iFix for their SCADA PC software. And then their are some that will only use AB MicroLogix and Pheonix Contact telemetry radios and SQL Server. And then their are those that use a packaged system by SCADAPAK. Its sometimes hard to get a standard for the PLC and Telemetry and a Data Collection system because there are so many and each have pro's and con's. But maybe someone else has what you need, but I will bet that there will be someone else that will not agree. There are just too many variations, methods and equipment available. If I was you, I would look hard at your own needs and build a system that fits your needs, and then make your own standard around that. Mark -
Hi, I have been using MicroLogix 1400s for some time and was considering moving up to the Logix series of controllers. Whats the best Logix series that would replace the ML1400..?? Thanks,

Funny you said that..he he I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I just thru it away so no one else would have to go thru this, but it was tempting..!! :) Also...we think this is the second one of these to go bad in the past 5 years. Oh well -
ML1400 to a Logix
PortenoSuenos replied to PortenoSuenos's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Well, unfortunately...sometimes the people that make these decisions are not always the ones who should be making the decisions, and they are not the ones who have to make it happen. :) How many expansion cards will work with the 1769-L16ER-BB1B..?? What type of expansion modules does it use..??. Whats the advantage of RSLogix5000 over RSLogix500..?? Thanks and sorry for all the questions. -
ML1400 to a Logix
PortenoSuenos replied to PortenoSuenos's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Lots of different applications...including motion using 0-10vdc to servo controllers. Im able to do anything I want with all the available expansion modules for the 1400. Once in awhile I am limited by the amount of I/O but I just use a 1500 then. -
ML1400 to a Logix
PortenoSuenos replied to PortenoSuenos's topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
The local AB Sales guy has people concerned here that I am not using the "Latest and Greatest". A lot of people make an issue out of me not using the "Latest and Greatest"..!! I personally like RSLogix500 and the ML1400 does everything that I need...BUT..people make a big deal out of me using it. I know it may not be the latex and greatest, but it WORKS and I understand them VERY well. I have looked at RSLogix5000 and Im not for sure I like it. Any way...just curious. Thanks -
Hi All... In RSLogix 500. 1. Just curious if there is a way to make a rung or ladder file hidden or where no one could get to it other than OEM Lock..?? I just want a few rungs hidden. 2. Is there a way to make a macro..?? Thanks

Hola All, I was told there is a way to change the spinning ladder logo when online in RSLogix 500 to a pumpkin, or custom bmp., etc. I ask you please how to do this. Gracias mi amigos
