  1. Yes it is possible to connect the PanelView Component to the 2nd serial port of the MicroLogix 1400 controller. The 1747-CP3 cable is the correct cable.
  2. A PanelView Component Design Considerations document was recently released that may be of use to you. It can be found on the Rockwell Automation Knowledgebase under Answer ID 70216.
  3. It is best practice to move expansion I/O to an integer or boolean data file within the ladder logic. However, if this is still not an option for you, please see Answer ID 67770 in the Knowledgebase for more information on how to directly reference extension I/O.
  4. Q1 - Yes, there is a string input object for the PVc. Because the screen is small, any entries done on the screen would use a thumbwheel type function to enter each letter/digit. Q2 - I do not think this has ever been tested, but it is possible that it would work. Q3 - PanelView Component Emulator is a free installation on the PanelView Component website. It's a pretty easy installation, and will allow you to create an entire application without a terminal connected. Make sure to download and extract the webhelp and extended support to make the installation easier. It is possible to edit and test (without communications) using the emulator. If communications are desired, the application would need to be transferred to a physical terminal and then run.
  5. It is not possible to print the alarm log directly from the PVc terminals. You are able to transfer the alarm log from the PVc to a PC and then print it.
  6. Component PanelView Issue

I'm unable to see the picture that you have posted. Would it be possible to type out the error message as it is seen on the screen?
  7. If you are using a PanelView Component C600, and the version is up to date (1.20 or higher), you can set up datalogging in the application. You will need to use either an SD card or a USB stick - those are the only available storage locations for a data log. The data log is saved as a *.csv file, which can be read by Excel. The help files can assist you with setting up the data log.
  8. Panel view component

At this time there is no migration tool from the PanelView Standard terminals to PanelView Component terminals.
