Hello, MODBUS is a communications protocol, actually there are several flavors. Search the web and you will find thousands of links. It is easy to implement and you will find source code.
-
Hello, OK, so the next question is do you want to use a communication protocol to the PLC or analog inputs on the PLC? For example, your program could be a MODBUS master and send the data to the PLC that is a MODBUS slave. Or you could use two analog inputs on the PLC; use a device attached to your PC and output the X/Y as analog outputs.

Hello, I don't get it. One web search for Jetter PLC lead to their website.
-
Hello, That depends on what you want to send to the PLC. A Boolean that indicates the object is +- millimeters from center, the value of the millimeters from center, a part is detected, etc..

Hello, I looked in my files for K200 information and only found information for the K200S. Searching the web found zero information. When looking on the lsis website there is no reference for the K200. I would advise to contact LG support.

Hello, You did not answer #2. You need a serial to MPI convertor.
-
Hello, #1 I do not see a ground pin. #2 Which serial to MPI convertor are you using?

Question about Multiple Masters on Modbus-TCP
Mark- replied to Arun Opto 22's topic in General Topics - The Lounge
Hi, He is the same poster. I was originally considered creating a long response. It really all comes down to the protocol. Masters cannot access masters and slaves cannot access slaves. Regardless of what I do in the "device", multiple sockets, message threading, internal pipes, etc., to appear as a device supports both, it is an illusion. The master side of the protocol will not respond to any commands. The OP original question, "...a device is a Master..." started the long discussion on the other site. "Devices" can do many things and appear to be magic. :) The question is can the protocol support it, hence, my short answer. My2c. -

Hello, No. The protocol is master/slave. -
Integrate SCADA software to Edward Smoke detector Module SIGA-CT1
Mark- replied to Steve Cheung's topic in HMI & SCADA
Hello, I do not read it that way. I read it as the modules are only "compatible" with their "Signature Loop Controller", not their "XYZ controller". Who knows if they produce modules for others with no name or a private label. Many "Fire Panel" manufactures sell their I/O to others. Not too many years ago one fire panel manufacture was the source of I/O for several brands. These other companies made the fire panel and had their own software. All the I/O was identical with no labels. The company that made the I/O even would sell a development box to help create the panel software. The money was/is in the I/O. My2c. -
Integrate SCADA software to Edward Smoke detector Module SIGA-CT1
Mark- replied to Steve Cheung's topic in HMI & SCADA
Hello, >..GE Security... Right. I think he was wanting to interface with the I/O module directly. That is what I read in the first message. -
Integrate SCADA software to Edward Smoke detector Module SIGA-CT1
Mark- replied to Steve Cheung's topic in HMI & SCADA
Hello, Normally for fire panels the I/O bus protocol is proprietary and/or uses Manchester encoding because the bus is operated at a very low data rate. Any device can twiddle a bit and flag a problem. Sometimes the manufacture will publish the protocol. My2c. -
Hi, PeakHMI is designed for Windows XP to 8, including embedded XP.
-
Hi, I put this on my list to test and finally got to it. PeakHMI can, using qrcode.exe, generate an image and the image will automatically update on the window. I have a test project if you want it. Contact support for the project.

Hello, This might help.
-
Hello, PeakHMI has a MODBUS slave driver.

Amazing lack of intelligence in automation industry...
Mark- replied to Crossbow's topic in General Topics - The Lounge
I know one of the issues some owners must deal with is approvals. Either the hardware/software was approved out of the box or a system was designed and submitted for approval. Once it is approved it can be a hard road to get approval again, not to mention the cost. I worked, for years, for a company that manufactured out of the box embedded approved systems, CSA, TUV, UL, NFPA, etc. and talking about changes to the system after spending $500,000 for all the approvals can get you many evil eyes. Some changes can be approved with a paper submittal and some require a complete round of testing and that can add the cost. For systems that are not out of the box, but are 'application' approved, the site system is approved, the owner normally does not have in house talent to get any changes approved. Which then leads to hiring a company/integrator/manufacture to do the work and get it approved. The cost of changing the hardware is the least expensive area. As hardware/software for embedded systems gets more complicated, one round of a board (hardware) change, during development, can cost $50,000. Now do it ten years after release (because some IC is out of production, etc.) and the cost can really climb. Assuming the team that created the first release is still around, if not, that can really add cost as the learning curve can become extended. So, the moral, for me is as the OP stated, be aware that things will break/wear out and need replacement. If you do not have spares you could be in a real pickle. Include a large number of spares in the original work/contract/project and when you burn though to 50% remaining, start looking for solutions, more spares or replacement. My2c. -

Hello, > Who are you too judge anyone? I am me. >Are you a sinless man? Of course not but, unlike you, I try not to do the wrong thing. >...now if you can't help me I have never seen anyone on this site help someone break the law. >...then get off this thread You are in a public forum. Why would I fail to comment on your attempt to perpetrate a crime? Why would I fail to inform others that you are attempting to draw them into a crime? Seems kind of silly for you to think I am the bad guy in this exchange.

Hello, > So you pay for everything you have? Never download a song without paying for it or maybe a movie... That is correct. I make my living from creating software. All my songs are paid for and I never downloaded a movie. Paid lots of money for software I use very little because that is the way it works. >.....don't judge me Why not? You post your illegal activities on the web, for all to see (hiding your real identity), while you attempt to elicit others to join you in a crime. Shame on you. When you learn something is wrong/illegal and continue to do it...

Hello, >I'm not paying that for some number... That gave me a good laugh. Imply all you are purchasing, when you purchase a LEGAL license to use the software, is a number. All the work put into creating/testing/etc. the software, has no value. I must say; asking someone to break the law for you takes some... or indicates a ... Thanks for the laugh.
