  1. Very Cool Creation

And I thought I overcomplicated my kids building block and Legos.
  2. PLC Trainer(s) wanted?

Ronbeaufort.com for AB training I haven't found anything better.
  3. PLC 5 Puzzle

Bernie you make it look to easy
  4. I thought there was a tool for data values in RS5000. I used it once or twice to export values and graph them.
  5. Tools

I use a plywood top on saw horses. This top has 4 1 1/2" holes in it so I can drop a drill in the hole and not worry about knocking any of them over. I change my setup around almost everytime I am still trying to find what works best fir me. 1 drill with a countersink 1 drill with a 8-32 drill tap combo 1 drill with a 10-32 drill tap combo 1 drill with a 3/8" drill bit fir the knockout pilot 2 holes for large screw drivers Phillips and Straight. 5 1/4" bolt sticking up through the sheet so I can drop wire spools on them and have it where I need it and spin free. A forklift and a hoist so you can flip a large panel over by yourself ( or have your 5 year old help ) A good shop vacuum. I had a guy ask me if my mom ever made me clean up after myself. I shipped a panel to him that wasn't as clean as it could have been. I won't make that mistake again. That was the last panel I did for him. Another good tool to have is a heat gun. I always heat the any panel before applying a sticker to it. That way I break the surface tension and makes the stickers stay longer.
  6. Red Lion G310 popups

The Menu key is a button the I am using to display a screen called Pop_up as a Popup Menu. This can be seen under Menu Key's the Properties / Global Tab. The rest of the buttons are also Global actions, they each call a different page. When the Pop_up Page is called yhou can also touch on the screen to change the page those Graduated Buttons have actions on them as well. I hope this helps you out.
  7. Red Lion G310 popups

I am using the keys for goto trigger. You just select the page. Global takes over. I don't know. These things are super powerful
  8. Red Lion G310 popups

    Try this file test.zip
  9. Red Lion G310 popups

are you still tring to or have you given up?
  10. Red Lion G310 popups

I know this is old but did you get it working.
  11. DH+ message speed

    PCCC you are right.
  12. I have to jump a message from a PLC5 to CompactLogix. The 5 is on DH+ the CPT is on Ethernet. I have a CLX that the customer wants to use a bridge for messaging. So my question is how do I calculate the speed a MSG on a DH+ network at 230.4K with 10 nodes? The originally wanted a produced consumed relationship between the 2 plcs but that isn't going to happen.
  13. DH+ message speed

I quoted that yesterday for them. The chassis will have to be rearranged because the first slot isn't open. I hated the spiderweb that they are getting ready to spin themselves into. Their sister plant has this message to that message to that message. I/O from this system to that system because they are out if room or they had a free open analog input card. You have to love msg writes where that receiving plc has no documentation on how it gets there. The safety person was doing LOTO training and did it on a system that wasn't running. The PLC was on a UPS so the lights stayed on to the chassis not the I/O. She had maintenance change it so that everything would shutdown. About that time 50% of the plant when down because the CLX was a bridge. Sorry enough rambling on about my frustrations. If we use a sidecard on this can we predict the msg time?
  14. Drive Fast Stop

Bob those 690+ drives are nice. Are you using them in a Common Bus mode or standalone? I remember something about them running in common bus mode and being able to regen on the bus and not having a bus overvoltage fault.
  15. DH+ message speed

I like to ponder off in the distance fir 3 to 4 seconds then give an answer as I scratch my chin. I was guessing at 150 ms. +/- 50. They gave me the we didn't budget for the upgrade. Have repeatedly told them it was not recommended. So I guess they are going to cause themselves some headaches. I originally thought the time difference was huge. The line runs about 1000 fpm. So that it's only 17.6 fps.
  16. Scanners

I second Chris. RASTER broadcast an array of beams. I personally like vision systems. Because if the code is smudged or broken you still have a chance at getting a read. Cognex has some nice systems That can do that scan rate noproblem. Are the packages the same size? If the height changes to much you may be looking at multiple sensors.
  17. DH+ To ABB

Tommu I just did a parts quote and ABB said that they can still get those RIO cards. I like the DeviceNet setup on these robots. I was worried at first but after I got them up I am a believer now. How are things going for you guys. No more Decimal Octal conversion problem I take it.
  18. Try PortInput instruction in Crimson.
  19. The way I do it is to send a string from a serial program. I use docklight or realterm to set up the baseline communications. That way you can send the string and you know when and what to except. Once you have that down then. You can have the G3 do the reading.
  20. DH+ To ABB

    Yes I am an integrator.
  21. DH+ To ABB

I have never seen a DH+ adapter. I have done RIO and am in the middle of DeviceNet startup now. Which controller are you using?
  22. Did you look at a resistor to pull the signal up? I did 4 rosemounts a few weeks ago. 3 of them worked with the micrologix 1200 I had buttoned needed a pull up resistor. My scope could see it but the MLX couldn't.
  23. wire duct cutters

Looks like I will be tooling up again. I am going to get some stainless knockouts if I get a few more if these stainless panels. So why not just buy a cutter. Thanks guys I didn't realize they are that inexpensive.
