  1. PLC for camera system

We just installed a new camera system for our Layup line. Our camera system uses a binary input and output instead of discret inputs and outputs. Im looking to get a small Mitsubishi PLC for this system. I will need at least 16 inputs and 16 outputs but would like some spares. I have only worked with the Q Series and a very small brick FX. Would a FX1N-40 MR-ES/UL be plenty for what im needing with 24 in and 16 out. The camera system sends out the binary for diffrent alarms. All I want do is take whenever I get one of those inputs to fire a output to the strobe light. Also I need to know if I can use GX Developer to program with. I know you can use GX with the FX1S, but im not sure about FX1N. Thanks for you help!
  2. PLC for camera system

Yes, I could do it without a PLC, but I dont want to burn up a $5000 camera controller without going through a PLC or a buffer relay. By discrete I mean there is no direct contacts on the camera system to come off of to do what I want, and I would like room for expansion. I looked up the FX3G, but they were a bit out of our price range. I found a FX1N-40MR for around $400. This should be more than enough for what I need. Thank you for your reply!
  3. Wonderware InTouch V7.1

I am trending data from a Mitsubishi Q06 to the Wonderware InTouch V7.1. I created my trend chart and got it working. My problem is that its not updating my data. I have to go to the development screen and then back to the runtime screen to get my data to update. I tried logging into the Wonderware help forum but there is a problem with me logging in. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  4. I am having an issue with one of my UDC controllers. My controller is swinging too much and oscillating way too much. It isn’t being used as a controller, just as a pass through device. I’m taking a 4 to 20 mA signal to the UDC as a PV and reading the slide wire as a position indicator on an air damper. My problem is, say my PV is at 50% my slide wire value moves to 52% and switches the opposite direction. Then it moves to say 48% and so on. This is putting a lot of wear on our slide wires, dampers, and motor starters. Is there a parameter that I can adjust to say if you’re within say 5% of your PV to not move? I have played with different parameters and am getting now where. I have written in the logic of the PLC to minimize this swinging with timers, but I would like to do it with the controller instead. I would appreciate anyone’s help! Thanks
  5. How to enable Overides?

We have quite a bit of programs in our plant and most of our programs the Override icon on the program is available to use. The program I am working with today doesn't have that option available. I created this program from scratch so I don’t know if I left something out in the beginning. How do I enable this so I can force items in the PLC? Thanks
  6. How to enable Overides?

Yeah, thats the Override Editor i'm looking for.
  7. How to enable Overides?

Yes, I am using DirectNet. All my others I am using ECOM with the Ethernet Cards. This one doesn't have a card so Im using a direct connection to the PLC. I have never setup one with K-Sequence? Is there anything special I need to run it on K-Sequence? Thanks
  8. How to enable Overides?

Yes, it is on a toolbar. I can see the override button on the toolbar but it is greyed out and I can not use it? I have moved the button to other places and still greyed out. I am online and have tried everything I could to use this function. All my other programs this button is not greyed out, but in color and I can override (force) items in the PLC. I am testing some new equipment and I am having to write everything to test stuff on here and the override fuction will help out alot!
  9. How to enable Overides?

  10. How to enable Overides?

It still isn't highlighted for me to use? I have all of them selected, Pause, Override, and Status. The Pause and Status buttons are availible but not the Override button?
  11. How to enable Overides?

Im going to go try and see if that did it.
  12. How to enable Overides?

Yes, it is DSL5 software. The Override is right beside the Pause bits on the upper left corner. I went under the Data view tab under bit display setting and I had it selected but when you click on the ON or OFF, what is the little icons that shows up?
  13. I am adding on some new items to our existing Control Logix and have heard that you can add a card or swap cards while the processor is on and running. Is this true? Also, when I install my new output card do I have to do an I/O Configure on the PLC or is it done for you? Simple questions I know but im new to the Control Logix. Thanks!
  14. Control Logix Output Card

Thank you Ron! This PLC isn't connected to a "must keep it running machine". This PLC was way overkill for what it is being used for. It opens three valves that put solvents in a small 10 gallon tank. I was just asking because I heard that was one of the things the control logix could do, was be able to add cards while the PLC was (Hot). Most of the ones I have dealt with you was suppose to kill it before adding any cards. My issue is at my plant I have to be proficent with Mitsubishi Q06, FX, Allen Bradley Pico, Micro, SLC, Compact, and Control Logix, Siemens S5, Automation Direct 05's, 06's and so on. So I have my hands full sometimes. I have heard of you and would love to take some of your courses sometime down in Charleston! Thank you for your help!
  15. Control Logix Output Card

I am actually adding a new output card. I am familiar with the SLC I/O config but not with the Control Logix. Where is the I/O config on the screen? Also BobLfoot, I am running version 15. Thanks!
  16. S5 115U

I have a battery low light on our S5 PLC's. I purchased new batteries and wanted to know if there is a specific procedure to installing them. I have power on the processors and the machine is running. Is this just a simple switch out? Thanks
  17. Honeywell UDC 3500

"The Honeywell UDC3500 controllers are acting solely as signal converters and damper controllers, and the KFM controller is the master with the PID control. Does the KFM controller support dual/multiple PID loops with separate outputs? If the 2 dampers are to run independantly of each other, then they should probably have isolated PID control loops (i.e., be driven by separate controllers - such as the UDC3500). I have no experience with the KFM controller." Yes the first part is true! The KFM doesn't support multiple PID loops. They dampers dont run independantly, the have to equal 100% flow between the both of them ex 70% 30%. The KFM controller is obselete also, and our plant was built by germans with all german equipment. The attachment is our RSView screen that gives a idea of what im dealing with. The KFM controls the oil temps by the dampers GS114 and GS115. The Oil is heated by the hot air from our incinerator. GS 115 is the one giving me problems. Doc1.doc
  18. Honeywell UDC 3500

This system had been in place for a while but we added these controllers about 8 months ago. I think we have had the swinging problem for awhile. As to my knowledge there is no PID loop in this application. This application is using hot oil to heat our presses and our treaters. The OEM installed a KFM controller that was sending a 4 to 20mA to two devices that controlled 2 dampers that were oposite of each other for flow reasons. We removed the 2 devices that controled the dampers due to being obselete, no liteture, and not working with the UDC 3500 controllers. The KFM controller is where the PID loop is and not in the new controllers. Like I said they are receiving the 4 to 20mA from the KFM controller as in one damper is 100% open at 4mA and the other damper is at 0% open and vise versa. We did this by just doing a reverse calibration on the opposite controller. The system seems to work ok. Im thinking we have a problem with the damper motor itself that is causing this problem in the first place. I called the contractor that installed these new controllers and he said try the deadband and see if it works, which in this configuration is .5 to 5. I went to both extremes with no luck. The logic I wrote in the PLC seems to work fine without issues, but again I wanted to do it in the controller instead of the PLC. We ordered new slidewires and I will install them when they arrive and see if that helps at all! Thanks for the reply!
  19. A975 GOT conversion to a 1000GOT

Ok, as soon as I get my Com module in I will give it a try! Thanks!
  20. A975 GOT conversion to a 1000GOT

We are running five A975 GOT's on our line and one 1000 GOT. We had one 975 fail but we had a spare. Can you convert the 975 program into a 1000? Does GT Converter convert the 975 program to the 1000 or do I have to rewrite the whole program in a 1000? Thanks
  21. A975 GOT conversion to a 1000GOT

I read over the Technical Bulletin and it gave me the recommended replacement for the screen. I also have a CCLink Data Unit for the 975 and I will have to purchase the recommended communication module. Will that be simply changing the wires over to the new module mounted on back of the GOT or is it more involved? Thanks for the information!
  22. S5 115U

    Thanks!
  23. S5 for Windows

I am adding a alarm to our line and need help with the S5. I just want to use four flags to Set a alarm and have a acknowledge PB to Reset it. It is wrote in STL and not the greatest with STL. Im guessing I would use something like A F150.7 O F151.4 O F152.1 O F152.6 Heres were I get lost, do I need a = Q22.8? It says error when I enter it? Any help will be appreciated! Thanks
  24. GT1575

I have our spare GT1575 on my desk. I want to go through the screens on my desk before installing it, but how do you get by with the screen switching?
  25. GT1575

Do you have to set your drivers or OS to computer? Only my base screen comes up and it will not change to another screen. Do I have to change the screen switching under the system enviroment. Mines set up as D42 for the PLC.
