  1. Does any one know if there is a system bit or so other way to know if there is an good Ethernet link. The display on the card shows link lost when the cable is not connected. Our operators have a few machines that they move on and off the lines. I would like to create a message for them if the Ethernet cable is not connected. This is for CLX 5555 and up. Thanks
  2. 1746-BAS

    Thanks Bob
  3. I was told that you and communicate with a Basic module with Hyperlink. If so can someone give step by step instructions on how to do this. Thanks
  4. 1746-BAS

Bob I dont want to see the data transfer I want to suck the program from the basic module.
  5. Linx Driver

    Thank you Mr. Roach
  6. A couple of weeks ago someone was showing me a this driver. It was errored whenever he tried to delete it he would get the blue screen and his computer would shut down. Now a maintanance tech has added it to the training computer and the same thing happens wou cant delete it change it or anything. Does anyone know what is going on and how I can get rid of it.
  7. CPU 351 rev. upgrade

    Thanks Russ & Steve
  8. CPU 351 rev. upgrade

I have some 351 CPU with Rev. 7.01 I need to expand the memory. Can I upgrade the Rev. to 9.01 and if so will I have the memory expansion option.
  9. CPU 351 rev. upgrade

You are correct Steve I was confusing the firmware with the revision level of Logicmaster software. The current LogicMaster software rev I an using is 9.05. but when I connect to the 351 CPU It is 7.01. If I make a logic change is the PLC will the rev change to 9.05 and can I increase the registers.
  10. RSLinx Setup

Setup one of your ports like this. setup links like this.
  11. I am sure here what happened here was when the flow was slowed down another done bit turned on and then the done and enable bit couldn't equal up and advance the sequence. I have seen this before. this is where you start getting into masking. The e-techs should just look at enable and done bits but they always end up searching and getting to the SQI and SQO then they freeze and through there hands up. That is what have against these drum sequencers.
  12. We build many new machines every year. Everything is is ran with a SQO. To add to the confusion every motion uses the same sequencer. We have a user defined JSR that plugs the required input data into the standard sequencer. eg. the standard is like A_dir or B_dir. the JSR would plug in Press_up or Press_Down. To make trouble shooting more complicated for the average troubleshooter the is a mask involved to ignore sensors that are not needed to step the sequence. Now the JSR passes out the command to actually turn on the required output. I wish I could show you. You wouldnt like it. I do like to sequence though. I use a bit shift left, in GE I use a bit sequencer (its about the same) It is very simple to troubleshoot if the step is true but the status wont come on all you have to do is search the the status bit and what ever contitions to step the BSL are there. I will export the logic and post it since it is my own. BSL_32_bit_sequencer.zip I would like to here comments thanks.
  13. I had a production employee that is taking a PLC class stop me. He said he loaded the RSLogix 500 software on his computer at home and the tool bar area and his tabs are black, and he wanted to change it. I told him that I don't think it is changeable from the 500 software it is part of his windows display setup. Am I correct in my thinking?
  14. I am at a crossroads right now. I work in the automotive supply industry everything here is top of the line. all new apps include CLX with a L61 processor, Devicenet to point IO, VersaView CE 1000 HMI's etc. Lots of Vision here also Cognex, DVT, Acuity, and Keyence. The company could move to Mexico and/or China in a few years some of it has already. It is very clean and my laptop is upgraded every 2-3 years. It is a good place to work. I have been offered a job at a steel company they have SLC's and mostly PanelViews some Redlion its poorly lit, dirty and noisy, people that work there like there job. The pay is a 30% increase. What would you do?
  15. What is being said is to watch how the scan works or you will copy over the previous register before moving it to the next register.
  16. What would you do?

Alaric that is a nice picture of happy valley, Hangen with the zoobies huh. I went to the tech school there. I dont know if any of you are into the movie Jeremiah Johnson but a good portition for that movie was filmed on the back side if the mountain in Alaric's pic. It is owned by Robert Redford
  17. What would you do?

No the company I am at now is only 1 mile from the Nucor.
  18. What would you do?

I really like the pic that TW posted of his home area. Here is a pic my 10 year old daughter took of a place near my home.
  19. What would you do?

I have some experience at this steel mill already I wouldn't be going in blind. It's sort of a going from a more high end (equipment wise) cushy job to a bit of a nasty one with older stuff. As far as advancement I am doing exactly what I want to be doing. I have played the boss before and cant say I like it at all.
  20. We use to do what you are wanting. I cant give you any part numbers because we have since upgraded all those CPU's to 5/05's and gave each the own network connection and I don't remember what we used, but it can be done.
  21. What would you do?

The company is Nucor in Utah.
  22. Here is where the compare tool is located if you have it installed.
  23. I have never tried to do what you want and I will be interested in the responses, but I do from experience that you can put 2 CLX CPU's on the same rack.
  24. Devicenet Explicit Messaging

Here is some info if you will go to rockwell automation knowledgebase and search "devicenet messaging examples" you can find more info. Basics_of_Explicit_MessagingV3.doc
