  1. Whats your realistic Drawing program

I tried Blender and, while it was fascinating as a 3D modeling app, it was difficult to actually produce icon images that could be used in instrumentation diagrams. High quality image and photo manipulation software is available from Washington State University. It's called Paint.net and it's free at http://www.eecs.wsu.edu/paint.net We use it to create and maintain icons, bezels and backgrounds for the SeeThru HMI.
  2. The easiest way to do that is over Modbus RTU to one of the two serial ports on the DL06. You can do that with SeeThru for $50, at www.tractrola.com
  3. You could use a basic mercury-switch thermostat from your local hardware store for about $20. Connect it to a discrete input on the PLC. You did say 'cheap'. At least it will keep the plants from getting toasted until you work out the OPC, data logger, thermocouple, RS-232 comms, and USB issues.
  4. Need a HMI platform

If your PLC supports Modbus, you might try SeeThru for PC HMI, data logging, etc. It goes for about $50 which is pretty close to free. http://www.tractrola.com
