  1. No takers? I'm sure it's in the way I'm posing the question. What I'm trying to do is select from a list and display that selection (and only that selection) on another page. I can see all my models on the list but I'm having issues after I select that model in trying to display it on the next page. I'm using ST bits as my list and I'm trying to copy all those bits seperatly to a single bit that I can display on the screen. Very frustrating as I've seen it done with a slc 500 and the same panelview 1000. Any Help would be appreciated.
  2. Thanks Ken. That's what I thought. Just thought I'd put it out there. PC is already ordered but I was hoping maybe there was a workaround somehow.
  3. Just a quick question. Is it possible to show a Panelview Plus 1000 screen on a flat screen TV through the USB or network port without adding any other modules or interface? Just thought I'd ask. Thanks
  4. Thanks Allen. That was the answer I was looking for. I appreciate the help.
  5. Hi guys. I have a question about downloading an .apa file that has users assigned with passwords to specific pages. I'm using Factory Talk Studio ver 5.00 cpr9 but the original installer used ver 3.20 or earlier. I have the original .apa file and i want to make some changes to the screens. When I open th application and check the Runtime Security page I see that in the "ME Runtime 3.20 or ealier " tab there are 10 or so people (Account ID) with passwords... My question is will those Account ID's and passwords go with the .mer file when I download my changes or am I gonna have to go into my system and add them to my user groups? This is the 3rd different way I've seen passwords used for pages in a PV+ and I don't work on them very much... It's a little frustrating...I still like the way panelbuilder used to do it LOL. Any help would be great P.S. When I test the application and try to login when the screen comes up on my laptop I get an error "insuffient rights"
  6. Thanks for the advice but I'm not looking to change these accounts to a newer version I just want to know if they will be downloaded along with the changes I am making to the screens. If I can be more specific please offer any suggestions.
  7. I'm still looking for help on this. If anyone has any input I would really appreciate it.
  8. Thanks for the quick reply. Ver 5.0 will let you download as an earlier version (3.20 or earlier) but I'm not sure that will solve the password situation! If these users and passwords are in the Runtime Security Tab (ME Runtime 3.20 and earlier) will it be as simple as just downloading as an earlier version? It would really suck if I download the changes and nobody can get to these protected screens. I'm sure I'll get this stuff just in time for Rockwell to change it all again LOL. Thanks for the help
  9. Does anyone know of any software other than RS Logix 5000 that can be used to monitor and communicate with Kinetix drives? I have 3 of them on a sercos network and I'd like to be able to get online with them without using Logix 5000 Thanks
  10. The answer to that question is NO I was thinking I could use RSLinks to communicate with some other application that would do my monitoring. I have my doubts but just thought I'd ask
  11. Hello Everyone. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to sense foam before? We are in a situation where we have a Large Wash Machine with a "soapy" cleaning agent that sometimes foams up a little too much in the process if it is not monitored by the operator. If anyone has come across this type of situation I'd like to hear from you! I'm looking to use Allen Bradley or Omron sensors if possible but I'm open to anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  12. Hey Guys. Thanks for all the great advice! Sorry If I sounded like I was taking my frustrations out on your replies about the "Password" Rules. It's not easy when your not at the table in these decision making meetings. Obviously I'm not alone. I will take your advice and use it to try and make the best of a bad situation. Like I originally said I'm just trying to keep people working....that's my job..... Keep up the good work guys... P.S. Removed by TW, no jokes before my morning coffee....Let me know ....HaHa...Just kidding
  13. Hi there The engineering staff at my place of work recently purchased 3 unique machines with control logics plc's and the programs were done with RSL5000. The people who built the machines have password protected the actual plc program. I know it sounds underhanded but I assure you my intentions are only to troubleshoot the machines as it is inevitable that they will "Go Down" at some point. I'd like to know if there is a way to upload the program "even without the comments"? Any help would be appreciated Thanks in advance
  14. I didn't realise this was such a touchy subject. Like I said before I'm not trying to "steal" anyones thunder here just trying to keep my factory running and not have people going home instead of working. We've tried to approach the builder but to no avail. I wasn't involved in the purchase but I am expected to keep these machines running 24/7 I know it's not your problem but I just thought if we could see the logic sometimes it's easier to troubleshoot. These machines were built in the USA and we are using them in Canada.... I guess that's Why the Chinese are winning....I'm sure they don't have these problems. Just a thought.
  15. Hello. I have a panelview 300 used as an HMI with a Micrologix 1200 PLC via 2- (1761-net-aic units) It is not a new installation and recently it started showing a message on the screen. "Error 615....Data errors on the link" This message is intermitent....it shows up then disappears then shows up again and so on..... I've read what little the manual has to offer ....ie: checked the cables. Has anyone else had this problem or know of a possible solution? Thanks in advance.
  16. Just an update in case anyone cares... After alot of hairpulling I narrowed it down to a faulty feed wire on the Brake of a Eurodrive Servo..... Even though the cables were not close to one another I was getting interference on the com. cable to the panelview... Oh well ..onto the next problem. Thanks for the help
  17. Thanks for the reply. The AIC units are powered externally and the baud rate is set to Auto. Like I posted before....this system was working and now this message appears...
  18. Replacing an Omron Sysmac Pro16 Display

When You do decide to upgrade your PLC let me know. We still have 2 of them in service and I'd like to get some spare parts
  19. I had the same problem with the PIC and the Rockwell rep told me to get rid of my PICS and use a serial cable instead and it's worked great ever since!
  20. I checked their website but it doesn't look promising! Thanks for the help though
  21. Hey guys. We have a new machine that has a micrologix 1200 plc in it and the manufacturer has installed a Panelview 300 for operarator interface. My problem is that there is only 1 com port on this plc.....and the paneview is using it! So I can't hook up my laptop without disconnecting the Panelview! ( I know..I know.. why would we not request multiple ports...trust me if I would have input into buying machines around here it would be a perfect world). The ALL KNOWING Engineers around here don't ask for anyone's opinion and when we get the machine it's too late.It wasn't considered necessary to be able to hook up a laptop at the same time you needed to manually move this thing..Go figure . Anyway ..I contacted my AB rep and he says that in order to have both I will need to purchase the new model of Micrologix 1200...(R I think) in order to have both com ports..I asked him about ordering an AIC+ expansion unit but he said the network communications were different... . Can anyone offer up any suggestions cause it really is a pain disconnecting and reconnecting all the time! Thanks Mac
  22. Sysmac S6 output relays

I was just wondering if anyone had a line on these hard to get relays for the Sysmac S6 plc from Omron. We are still using 2 S6's and are slowly running out of the output relays. They are old and the relays are obsolete but thought it might be worth a try here. These plc's still run great but need parts. Thanks
  23. Sysmac S6 output relays

I really appreciate the feedback guys. Our two S6's are running 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. We do drive slave relays with them but they do many cycles a day. I have looked into retrofitting other relays on the board but have come up empty. If anyone else can help or has run into this problem and come up with a solution other than replacing the Plc please feel free to give your input Thanks Mac
  24. CQM1H adding input module

It did go alright! I had to install it after my B7A remote module because there was a conflict but after I moved it I could read the input card and make my program change. Thanks
