It looks like a lot of valve manufactures are now offering Dual 3-way (2 x 3/2) valves along with their 3 Position 4-Way (5/3) valves. Can anyone tell me or direct me to information on the advantage or disadvantage of using the Dual 3-way (2 x 3/2) over the 3 Position 4-Way (5/3) valves? Thank you in advance for your help

NFPA 79: Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery
BudMan replied to BobLfoot's topic in General Topics - The Lounge
You must create an NFPA account and password first (you will get spam from NFPA). Nice find, you can view NFPA 79 Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery or NFPA 70 National Electrical Code. Nice!! Bud -
Does any one know of any companies (in the Detroit area) that perform Device Net Verifications per Chrysler specifications? I am in need of a third party for verification of a small device net network. This network has a total of seven Device Net nodes. My local distributor (MC & MC) has given me a quote but I would like to have a second source. Thanks Bud

We have a few people here milking a couple of jobs, no cows. -
Sounds correct to me. 24Vdc signal direct to starter. Overload Relay does it's job and if tripped, power to motor is removed and PLC gets signal that O/L is tripped. I motor starter boxes with push button on / off buttons only typical to wir O/L trip contacts in series with coil. Bud

It was a F-15. The Israeli pilot was able to land it safely and said he would have ejected if he knew how much damage there was. See YouTube link Bud -

We use Brady Label Mark software to print out on to sheets of wire tags. We have selected two different style labels, one for wire (54 durable white labels to a sheet) and the other for tubing (78 durable white w/ clear tail labels per sheet) used on air logic tubing. We use a dedicated laser printer for printing these sheets. The sheets are loaded just like paper and the labels are peeled off the sheets as needed. The electricians seem to like the software and labels as it allows them to easily print out duplicate or sequenced numbers. They can also easily store unused labels to be reused on the next job. They do also use the portable hand held printers when in the field for repairs or changes. Bud

In the days before EPlan, GM made us use an AutoCAD add-on called EC CAD. EC CAD was similar to running AutoCAD Electrical. It had a lot of auto LISP routines, blocks and pull down menus specific to electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic design. Bud

How do you mount exterior tags or plaques?
BudMan replied to Gamble's topic in Control Panel Building
The engraver we use has a lamacoid tag that is engraved from the rear. That is these tags have a clear layer on top and the tage is engraved from the back side. These tags hold up well in a dirty enviroment as the dirt does not fill in the engraved area. Solvents also do not tend to melt the tag down in a way that will fill in the engraved area. We have also had large tags made out of brushed aluminum with the information acid etched into the aluminum. The engraver is able to use our ACAD drawing to manufacture these tags. These tags could be used to show information (like part layout) or could have the whole operator panel layout on it (one large tag for all the PB's and lights). Bud -

I guess sometimes I am held to the higher standards. See below specifications from Chysler & Ford Chrysler Do's & Don'ts 4.3.2 Standard Tag For Field Devices Standard Tag for field devices shall include: Permanent identification utilizing an approved tag, mechanically attached adjacent to the device. Each tag shall indicate the device P.L.C. address and Description, function and direction of motion. Characters shall be a minimum 5/32" in height. Tag shall be readily visible from the service side of the line and must not be mounted on the device it identifies or obscure the manufacturer’s label. FORD VOSS: 2.4.3.2 All switches shall have a lamicoid tag that includes the PLC description and input address. The tag shall be engraved with text no smaller than 1/8 inch and be mounted adjacent to the switch with drive screws. 2.4.7.13 Tags are to be shown and flagged out for the build supplier on the drawings for each valve, pressure reducer and gage pressure setting. Tags are to be affixed to the machine tooling and read machine function and valve number. All tags shall be attached with drive screws.
