Posted 2 Sep 2006 I recently bought a used Laptop from my boss. I was interested in the RS Logix 500 program that is on it more so than the laptop itself. Anyway, he provided me with the access key and the installation disk. I attempted to install it on my Desktop at home. At some point early in this process I get the message "this software requires service pack 4 on windows NT 4.0". Does this mean that RS Logix 500 Version 5.00.00 will not work on Wndows XP? Posted 2 Sep 2006 Take a look at this app note: http://domino.automation.rockwell.com/appl.../RL052000RN.htm In one spot they suggest that ver. 5.20 is the first to support XP, but in another place they talk about ver. 4.50 running in XP. Clear as mud :) I guess you should try installing it and see what happens. There is another app note on the knowledgebase that talks about UNinstalling ver. 5.00 in XP.. Makes it sound like there's a special procedure you must follow. Caveat emptor!
Posted 2 Sep 2006 According to THIS RsLogix 500 version 5.20 will run on XP. Before that I can't find a statement either way I see a lot of issues with RsLogix 500 after upgrading to XP. Was it on the laptop when you got it and you upgraded to XP? On a side note since you have purchased the software from you boss I would suggest you have your boss go HERE and have the registration transfered over to you. This will allow you to upgrade the software if you are unable to get it to work with XP
